A year or so ago I would have given you my servers URL to allow you to at least download it from a local site but the antiquity of it and local security issues now prevent me form doing so. I'm guessing WAMUG has something similar though? there's also a regular CD of such things for financial members isn't there? maybe Apple need their update service to be like a bit-tolerant like p2p network (except that's a couple of dirty words outside of the gaming and W4rez crowd) on 16/3/04 8:33 AM, Peter Hinchliffe at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: MacOS X 10.3.3 is now available via Software Update. Re: Wireless AP was RE: MacOS X 10.3.3
I was at systems security conference last week and they showed how easy it was to hack a wireless network. The best home made antennae was actually a pringles can, not a Nescafe / Milo tin. This link http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/666e/ has a more professional version of the pringles can. Scared me off ever having a wireless network, well for the moment anyway. Scared me off ever having a wireless network, well for the moment anyway. I use one, and I'm not too concerned about break-ins given how I have it configured. I have it hooked up to a dedicated port on our Linux router, with a firewall that requires an IPSec tunnel in order to allow traffic to pass to the Internet or the local LAN. This means I can also leave WEP and MAC-address restrictions disabled (after all, neither of them is as useful as it could be anyway) and provide local AP-based connectivity to others. They just can't get to my LAN or my DSL link. Unfortunately, this can be a fair bit of work and is more trouble than most want to go to. Craig Ringer
