Low and Lonely lyrics

2010-11-10 Thread castone59
Low And Lonely sad and blue
Thinking only of little you
Always tryin' to keep from cryin'
I'm Low And Lonely over you.

CHORUS
Do you miss me? Say you do!
Tell me darlin', please tell me true
Do you yearn dear for my return dear?
I'm Low And Lonely over you.

Low And Lonely, weary, too
You're the only, true love I knew
Don't be long, dear, you know it's wrong, dear
I'm Low And Lonely over you. by Roy Acuff

Biggs' New and Used Furniture
Blu-Vue Motel
Boysinger's Bakery
Burford's

Candy Shop

That is my favorite episode. However there is one laugh out loud scene that

Angels and Demons

2009-04-21 Thread castone59
Ron Howard has been criticized for his latest film 'Angels and Demons' as
being detrimental to Catholics and the Vatican. The film is just fiction,
entertainment. Opie attended the All Souls Church and Ron Howard was
married in a Methodist church. After TAGS ended its run, Andy Griffith's
first film was 'ANGEL in My Pocket' (1969). Plus, Andy always made Opie say
his prayers at bedtime.

This is the first I've heard of the film. But I agree that it's unrealistic
to think of Ron Howard as being a grown up Opie. I haven't always agreed
with some of the stuff he has done but I figure that's the director of the
man.

Dogs, dogs, dogs

2009-04-01 Thread castone59
I was watching Dogs, Dogs, Dogs yesterday and wondered if any of the TAGS
lines were ad libbed? When Barney puts the dogs into the car and goes
around to the other side, he tells the Airedale, Move over, I'm driving.
That seems like an ad lib to me. It seems like such an unimportant line,
but maybe the writers inserted it and the dog was told to sit in the
driver's seat. Does anyone have any opinions on this. Could there be
episodes with ad libs? Barney and Andy were masters of the craft. It
sounds reasonable that they'd be able to stick in a sentence here and there
and the director would allow it.
I love the epilogue where Andy are Barney are leaning against the door when
Clint Biggers tries to get it. Andy says, If that's them dogs, I ain't

front porches

2009-02-28 Thread castone59
Aagh! All this talk of front porches makes me want one so badly. I have
time to sit. I live slightly out of town so don't have neighbors walking by
much, but I like to watch traffic and joggers and such. Not to mention
working on my philosophical meanderings. I may have to speak sternly to my
husband about building me a porch. I feel if I don't get one soon, I'll go
drink myself silly on Elly's ice cream sodas. If she won't sell them to me,
I'll just get them somewheres else.

This doesn't mean the front porch talk is making me upset. Keep the
memories coming. I enjoy them even though they bring a nostalgic tear to
the eye. Of course, I live in the North and we only get about 5 or 6 months
of porch sitting weather if we're lucky. My porch (when I get one) will
face the east. Has anyone experience the pleasure of sitting in the fresh
of the morning with a cup of tea and breathing the sweet air? It stirs the
soul and makes one praise God for his wonderful creation. Forget TAGS-L
versitis. What is my condition called? Is there a doctor on the porch?

summer and watch traffic go by. My husband will eventually build a back
deck and a front porch. I wish it could be sooner rather than later, but
he's not suspicious about the economy. He's *cautious*! Enjoyment gained
would be worth more than the money spent for a porch. You wouldn't happen
to have a lucky letter, rabbit's foot or four-leaf clover that my husband
could borrow, would you? Just until he passes the shooting test, er, I mean

We drink skim milk and I've wondered at the film left on the glass by the
nonfat milk. Barney's milk looks mighty creamy to me. Maybe Orville

Ken's wife and Mr. Schwamp

Ken, if your wife stops cooking and ironing for you, just cut off her credit

Andy imbibing

2008-12-19 Thread castone59
What did Barney and Andy drink when they visited the Esquire club? And when
Andy and Barney were in the big city in the episode where Barney tags the
house detective as a jewel thief, does it mention what Andy drinks? I know
he asked for a steak, baked potato and green beans while Barney had snails
and brains.

I'd like to add my opinion to The Untrained Voice's fan fiction. It was
such a good story line that in my head, that will be fixed as the reason why
Opie's mom died. Now here is a question for all you medical people out
there. At the time Opie would have been born, would medical science be
advanced enough to have been able to save Maggie? Would she have known that
pregnancy would be a risk for her heart condition? Would she have know that
she had inherited a heart condition? It's preying on my mind.

The Case of the Punch in the Nose

2008-11-13 Thread castone59
Now, I'd like everyone to shake hands and as Andy would say to Opie, Act

When I read the above post, I immediately thought of the little talk Andy
gave to Mr. Foley and Floyd about being friends and neighbors, seeing each
other through good times and bad, and all that was needed was a good, warm
handshake. Then I read further down and noticed that The Untrained Voice
saw the same similarity. Punch in the Nose happens to be one of my very
favorite episodes. I can hear Barney whining, It's as open as it ever

Digest Posting Guidelines according to the Untrained Voice

2008-10-08 Thread castone59
Well done, Untrained Voice. I love that you backed up your talking points

and caring posts to the Digest and it always reassures me that everything is
okay in Mayberry. I'm glad Mr. Kessel reminded me of the tomato scene.
It's no wonder the actors kept breaking up with laughter. It is a hilarious
scene. The retakes explain why the tomato spot changes places on the
shirt. Which episode is it that so I can go back and rewatch it? I need
some laughter in my day today.
Not to break any rules, but my daughter who is in the military has a PT test
she has to pass on Oct. 20. She has been PCS'd to Italy and if she doesn't
pass her supervisor warns her that losing Italy will be the least of her
problems. He said her life will be ruined. Unfortunately, my daughter has
agonizing shin splints and can barely walk. Now I know there are some
former and current members of the Coldstream Guards out there who understand
this problem. Please pray that God's will be done and whatever happens, my
daughter (and I) will be able to cope. My daughter is not high-spirited.

Thanks for resending Mr. Kessel's post. I was really confused and kept

thanks again, Joe Gritton, for reposting Mr. Kessel's observations. I'm
still fixated on Wallace Ford in Harvey. I haven't had a chance to watch
the two shows yet. I'm trying to remember when Harvey was filmed and when
Aunt Bee's Romance was filmed to see how old Mr. Ford was in each one. If
there was a few years difference, maybe that's why I didn't recognize him.
Or maybe I'm just not a trained noticer and should drop out of trained

Mr. Kessel's account of Burt Mustin being so grateful for being remembered

Wallace Ford

2008-10-06 Thread castone59
Mr. Kessel, you mentioned Wallace Ford as being in Aunt Bee's Romance. My
favorite movie is Harvey with Jimmy Stewart. I believe the taxi driver in
one of the scenes near the end was played by Wallace Ford. (They got no
faith in me or my buggy.) Anyway, I never would have gotten the
connection. Is it the same Wallace Ford? It's like Mrs. Poultice and Big
Maude. I just can't seem to see the same actor/actress in these two roles.
To me that's a sign of being remarkably talented. If a character actor is
not readily recognized from one role to another, then they must be putting
on the personality of the particular character they are playing. Which, I
guess would mean that they would not be typecast, or whatever the term is.
I'll have to go back and watch Harvey and Aunt Bee's Romance again. It will
be a pleasant chore. This time I will watch Wallace Ford carefully and see
if I can see him in the other role.
I hope I am not incredibly dense to not recognize the actors in other
roles. I am just so taken up with what I'm watching that I don't notice the
details. I was really disappointed when someone on this digest pointed out
that the scenery as seen through the courthouse door was painted. In my
mind, Mayberry was exactly as it was presented to be and it's hard to think
about it being filmed in different settings and sequences. It amazes me
that Andy and Barney can be talking outside the courthouse, then walk in the
door still talking without a missed beat. (I'm assuming that the outside
shots and inside shots were filmed in different places and sequences.) The
continuity amazes me. Anyway, I put the details out of my mind and just
enjoy being in Mayberry. I try not to notice the painted scenes or
cardboard squad car. I'm happy that a lot of you know the intricate details
of putting together a television show and all about the 40 acres and I have
learned a lot. But I just want to enjoy the end product. However, keep the
information and discussions coming. It's all very interesting.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that.

2008-10-02 Thread castone59
Was Andy Griffith an only child?

I had never realized that Big Maude and Mrs. Poultice were the same actress
until someone mentioned it on the digest quite some time ago. Even though I
know it now, I still have trouble seeing a resemblance. That's the actor of
the woman, I guess. Some of the actors and actresses who thought they were
second rate, were so wrong. The small role characters can make or break a
show. I appreciate Mr. Kessel sharing his knowledge with us.

And, skating pretty close to rule number 2, there is one episode I cannot
stand because of the minor character role and yet I believe that actor was
considered to be pretty good. I did see him in a movie on TCM recently and
his role didn't portray him as stupidly as it did on TAGS so now I think a
little more highly of him. If a good actor can make you dislike him, then
he's a good actor! A good example is Andy Griffith in A Face In The Crowd.
Scary role and unsympathetic character. Andy Griffith also played a role in
a TV movie as a judge who put two girls in jail for a traffic infraction or
something. While there, one of the girls was raped. I saw this movie
before I had seen any TAGS, and I could hardly stand Mr. Griffith. And now
I am a fan of TAGS and never want to leave Mayberry and our sheriff.

A long time ago, we discussed Ellie Walker's middle name and I believe the
consensus was that there was none mentioned on the show. She was
erroneously thought to be Ellie Mae because Andy once said, Elly, may I say
that behind that pretty face . . . something. So. Is Mae her middle name
or not?

And finally, is the episode in which Otis buys a car the only episode with
just three of the characters shown? And that reminds me of Charlie Varney
who used to post here frequently. I hope all is well with him.

Funniest line(s)

2008-08-05 Thread castone59
I laugh every time I hear Ernest T. Bass ask in his nasal voice, I wonder
who that could be? The scene is in My Fair Ernest T. Bass and Barney is

same scene. I can't hear him. I can't hear him. How can I learn if I
can't hear him? (Doggone it, Ernest T. Bass! Those are the amenities.
You don't shout out amenities!)
