methods that need fixing, I found a bunch of other places where CAN
and other MMI terms were just used... weirdly. Not all of them are

Here's a proposal to fix G.'s promise recursion bug.
Just to clarify the authorship, I independently arrived at this idea
before Gaelan did and posted it on the discord. G. didn't think it
would work, and e convinced me. After Gaelan introduced it on list, I
went over it again with G. and we figur
nix pointed out that the trick that allows you to cash your own
promise is a weird and counter-intuitive hack. This would allow people
to reclaim their own promises from the library more cleanly, and make
it the default behavior, while still allowing people to override it.
