I know this has been posted several times before. But all old solutions to the problem has not solved mine. I still can't get by the dialog that pops up. My TCP/IP is setup ok, The SQL is listening to port 1433, but it will not work. We are installing a complete new server OS 2008 R2 SP1

Hi Janne, You should give us a list of the old solutions to help on the way. How is your local firewall set up? How did you verify that 1433 is really listening? I was able to install a similar setup without any major problems using Win 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. Best Regards -
