It can be worth the effort, if you have a good contract. They come in
piles sometimes, then dry up for a while. SI Systems has always
treated me well.

The only feature from RDP that I think would be good to have is it's
ability to tell you all the code that impacts a field (uses it in Run
If, Set Fields If, Set Fields, Push Fields If, Push Fields, Table
Qualification, Table Field Column, Menu, etc) That's really handy.

Group/User Notifications.

2008-12-18 Thread Frex Popo
Hello everyone,

I have a number of child Incidents linked to a parent Incident. Each child
Incident has a number of tasks.

What I need is, when a user presses a button on the Incident form, a
notification is sent to the user whom THE PARENT INCIDENT has been assigned to,
(or the group in case the incident has not been assigned to anyone yet).

The notification should also be sent to the user to which THE CHILD INCIDENT t
has been assigned to (or the group in case the child incident has not been
assigned to anyone). The same for all the child Incidents of the parent
Incident.

The notification should also be sent to the user to which THE TASK of the child
incident has been assigned to (or the group in case the task has not been
assigned to anyone). The same should apply to all the tasks of each child
Incident.

What would the best way to approach this problem?

Is it by creating a form and storing the ID of the parent incident, child
incidents, and taks, along with all the group and users and then use a filter
on submit to that form and send a notification?

How about walking through the incident and taks form to find the relevant IDs?

Anyone did before and want to share their thoughts.

Thanks in advance

frex.

Re: Remedy resource available Jan. - Referral Incentive!

2008-12-18 Thread Pierson, Shawn
That depends on what type of work is required. If they want a junior resource
for data entry or something like that, then it could be ok.

Also keep in mind that some recruiting firms are getting their job requirements
from other firms, who are getting it from other firms, and so on. This is how
you get a client paying $200/hour or more and expecting a decent Remedy
developer, while the developer gets paid $50/hour and doesn't even know the
difference between an Active Link and Filter, and thinks ITIL is what they do
before planting a garden.

For the person with the job requirement that started this conversation, my
suggestion would be not to ask for four people at a mediocre rate, but rather
to combine the positions, perhaps bringing in two people, paying one person
$115/hour and the other $85/hour. That can still be lower than what I've seen,
but you can get much better quality folks that way.

It depends on whether the position is permanent or contract and what
benefits come with it, which are not clear from the previous email. If
this is strictly a 6-month contract job with no perm conversion or
benefits, I agree that the rate is a bit low. If this is a perm
position with full medical, dental, 401k, and all other standard perks,
then the rate is fairly decent.

We also don't know location. $50 per hour can go a long way in
Timbuktu, Wisconsin, but might leave you strapped for cash in Manhattan,
Washington D.C., or San Francisco.

You know, you all are right from your stand point. How I see it is, A client
knows what it wants the best. I would suggest the same thing you said, but
they are the final decision makers.

My only point is that if every client started hiring highly experienced
candidates what about the ones that have just started their career. I
constantly used to hear this from my candidates.

I know why you are all saying what you are but unfortunately the fact is
that the economy is facing something really serious and I as a recruiter
have seen it affect all areas of technology. I definitely hope it gets
better soon. Funny thing is that, companies are still hiring but the price
they are willing to pay has take downward swing for known reasons!

Hi there,

I am trying to figure out which CMDB class to map some data into, for
the following items:

1. Telephone
2. Radio talking device
3. Rack drawers ( for mouse/keyboard)

Any idea?

Re: Remedy resource available Jan. - Referral Incentive!

2008-12-18 Thread Sanford, Claire
I live in corporate America. lets make that healthcare in corporate
America. Meaning I am a W2 employee with full benefits, vacation time,
sick time, the works. The rates that are being quoted are not bad if
you are a real employee and not a consultant who has to pay for all of
those things.

With the way the economy is going... be thankful for what you have!

You know, you all are right from your stand point. How I see it is, A
client
knows what it wants the best. I would suggest the same thing you said,
but
they are the final decision makers.

Funny thing is that, companies are still hiring but the
price
they are willing to pay has take downward swing for known reasons!

That depends on what type of work is required. If they want a junior
resource for data entry or something like that, then it could be ok.

Also keep in mind that some recruiting firms are getting their job
requirements from other firms, who are getting it from other firms, and
so
on. This is how you get a client paying $200/hour or more and expecting
a
decent Remedy developer, while the developer gets paid $50/hour and
doesn't even know the difference between an Active Link and Filter, and
thinks ITIL is what they do before planting a garden.

For the person with the job requirement that started this conversation,
my
suggestion would be not to ask for four people at a mediocre rate, but
rather to combine the positions, perhaps bringing in two people, paying
one
person $115/hour and the other $85/hour. That can still be lower than
what
I've seen, but you can get much better quality folks that way.

Of course I don't know any specific details about this engagement but

In need of help with Assigned To Individual field drop down menu (UNCLASSIFIED)

2008-12-18 Thread Nguyen, AnhThien Mr CTR NG NGB ARNG
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE

Hi all,

I upgraded our ARS 6.3, HPD 5.6, SQL Server 2000 -- ARS 7.1 p5, HPD 5.6, SQL
Server 2000. I've only upgraded the Remedy system baseline and left
everything as is. The upgrade went through successfully, however, I am having
a problem that I cannot figure out. I created a helpdesk ticket as normally
would, but when I tried to select the Assigned To Individual field (drop down
menu), only my name pops up. I do not see anybody else in my group. Also, I
can't select any other Individuals in any other groups.

I've checked the menu attribute for the Assigned To Individual field, and
nothing has changed. The menu is pulling from the User form where 'Group
List' LIKE zAssignedGroupID. The zAssignedGroupID is populated when I select
the Group field (which pulls from the Group form).

The weird thing about this is that there is a workaround. The user profile
has to have a Fixed License and Administrator privileges. If the user profile
has Floating License or no Administrator privileges, then he/she cannot see
other technicians in the drop down menu of the Assigned To Individual field.
I cannot regular endusers have Administrator privileges, that would be
unacceptable.

I've talked to Remedy Support this morning and they are checking with the
licensing department. I didn't think I needed to upgrade my AR Server license
file since it was only a system upgrade, I did not/do not plan to upgrade to
ITSM7. I'm having a feeling that Remedy support will take too long. Any help
is appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Mid-Tier Report Form

2008-12-18 Thread Ron Pierce

Report form is pretty buggy.

Here is what I submitted to Remedy Support. They had no clue. It is odd and I
am running out of trouble shooting steps. It is definitely something on the App
server it seems.

Mid-Tier 7.1 patch 5 and Patch 2 have both been tried. ARServer version 7.1
patch 5.

Here is the situation: My Production Mid-Tier web servers will not produce a
report, AR System or Cystal type, against our Production AR System App server.
BUT, the same 2 web servers Will produce a report on all our other servers (qa,
dev, train).

The Reports will run fine when I use an Open Window/Report with Embedded in the
AL so I know the BOXI server and the arr reports are working on the web.

It Does Not matter what the Report is being run. It is on All reports in the
Reporting form. It thinks the fields are gone. I am suspect of the mid-tier
actuall retrieving the complete cache but I do not know any other methods to
retrive cache othe than flush cache

Here is the error I am getting:

Error during processing : ARERR [314] Field does not exist on current form :
212 ARERR [314] Field does not exist on current form : 211 ARERR [314]
Field does not exist on current form : 210

The fields are definitely there and all Perms are in order.

Here are the steps I have been through with no luck:

- re-installed mid-tier on WebServerProd- uninstalled mid-tier and the
re-installed on WebServerProd- Deleted and re-imported the Report form
directly from the InstallForms directory def file

Any ideas would be great. Thanks

If you are talking about the Assigned to Individual field on the Help

permissions on the Request id (1) of the SHR:Assignments got wacked.
Check the permissions there first, I bet public got removed and is only
referencing Assignee

Thanks so much,
Thien

Re: Group/User Notifications.

2008-12-18 Thread Robert Halstead
This is just a thought, but you could build a table field on the incident
form of all the child tickets for that parent, and another for all the tasks
related.. I guess the problem would be getting all the tasks that were
related to the children and parent.. Essentially, you could walk a table
and build your recipients list that way.

On Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 7:49 AM, Frex Popo frexp...@yahoo.fr wrote:

 ** Hello everyone,

I have a number of child Incidents linked to a parent Incident. Each child
Incident has a number of tasks.

What I need is, when a user presses a button on the Incident form, a
notification is sent to the user whom THE PARENT INCIDENT has been assigned
to, (or the group in case the incident has not been assigned to anyone yet).

The notification should also be sent to the user to which THE CHILD
INCIDENT t has been assigned to (or the group in case the child incident has
not been assigned to anyone). The same for all the child Incidents of the
 parent Incident.

The notification should also be sent to the user to which THE TASK of the
child incident has been assigned to (or the group in case the task has not
been assigned to anyone). The same should apply to all the tasks of each
 child Incident.

What would the best way to approach this problem?

Is it by creating a form and storing the ID of the parent incident, child
incidents, and taks, along with all the group and users and then use a
filter on submit to that form and send a notification?

How about walking through the incident and taks form to find the relevant
 IDs?

Anyone did before and want to share their thoughts.

 Thanks in advance
 frex.

Has anyone noticed that with the 7.1.0 (Patch 004) Admin tool the Sync
Search Database is no longer marked as running when you start it?

I just had the issue where to different developers were trying to run it
at the same time.

Yep. IE does not have this issue in either 7.1 patch nor the 7.0.1 midtier
either. Just Firefox.

So both versions of firefox exhibit the same behavior on both versions of
7.1, but neither exhibit it on 7.0.1?

Firefox 3.0.1 on 1 machine and 3.0.4 on another and Midtier 7.1 patch 5 on
new web server and our Development box is patch 2. The old web server is
7.0.1 patch 4 and does not have this problem on the same forms.

Has anyone had problems displaying forms in Firefox using the 7.1 midtier?
It is chopping off the right side of the form using Firefox but it does not
when using IE 6 or 7.
