Hi Misi,
I am in Base Dev Mode, but I do see all of the other Custom objects; all but
the one I imported last night.
I'll try your steps to see if it works, I need to wait for someone to get in
(this woke me up very early... :( because of course it's a 'get done now
project'...) because this
Hi,
I am not really talking about any custom objects, but objects that are
marked as custom in the definition files. I am not convinced that this
is your real problem though...
Can you import other stuff? Like if you create a form, export it, delete
it, and then import it?
Maybe something fails
Can you provide your thoughts on this senario?
We have encounter on our test environment which is port mapped with a specific
port, that via our citrix environment it takes exact 41 sec to login and MT/WUT
would produce a server time out errors; eventhough, ports have been defined in
Thank you.
In addition, to what has been posted and I have read, defining a specific port
behind firewall is the best path.

Hello,
Joe and Axton, thank you for responding to Moving ARServer being Firewall and
new server
Our environment is:
ARServer: 7.5.00 Patch 004
(2-installation) MT Server: 7.5.00 Patch 004
AR Server OS: AIX 6.1
Mid Tier OS: AIX 6.1
Web Server: Websphere 6.1
Database: Oracle 10
Hi Misi,
I was able to create a new one on the server where I created the other
Application and then import it into the one where I'm attemping to put the
other one...
I'm going to try the objects independently to see if that works...
thanks Again,
Mary
I have had a case where I couldn't see the imported custom object in base mode,
only in Best Practice mode.
Not saying it makes sense, not saying I have figured out why, just saying it
happened(and I haven't submitted a bug to BMC either, yet).

Thansk Daniel,
I tried looking both places and can't find it still... even attempted more
imports this morning. I am able to do individual objects...
Is there logging for the import of a def file? I don't see any errors in the
arerror.log at all (related to this).
thanks again,
Mary
Warren,
Are you physical or running virtual? BMC do recommend physical - with a virtual
environment you can easily add more resources when needed. Some DBA's like to
keep the DB physical. We have been very successful keeping everything virtual
and just scale up when more juice / disk pace
Ahhh Good question! Virtual environment.

Hi All
We have a new ARS 7.604 instance with incredible slow MidTier performance every

Restart Tomcat and all is fine for 2 days. Unacceptable to our 200 IT users and
is killing us. Our base of 4800 end users

Connect to the JRE with either jconsole or jvisualvm and see where the cpu
cycles are going. Most likely the JVM is busy with GC activities. If this
is the case you have a few options:
- Tune the GC so that it can keep up with the load, if possible
- Move to a 64-bit JDK for Tomcat and increase

In your java properties what is the min/max heap size on java? I know
for the mid tier to work properly without freaking out, the recommended

Agreed, there are (long) times when you do not see any activity in the
install logs or to the db. I have almost killed the installer before but
let it run over night instead. Sometimes it is still not finished in the
morning but it has progressed beyond where I had almost killed it and does
end
Does anyone know why certain components of ITSM come bundled with an
ancient version of the Sun JRE?
Atrium Core comes bundled with this JVM:

/path/to/AtriumCore/server/BMCAtriumCoreInstallJVM/bin
[user@server bin]$ ./java -version
java version 1.5.0_09

The bundled JVM/JRE is supplied for use by the installer because the installer
needs it. Once the installation is complete, use of the bundled JVM/JRE is
used by some customers as a convenience, but it is not a requirement. It is
not meant to restrict any customer to using that version during
David, why doesn't the installer use the Java version the customer has
likely already installed? Is there a technical reason it needs to actually
install its own version?

Thanks David. The thing that threw me off here is that the CMDB plugin
servers, by default, as part of the installation, use the bundled JVM.

What version are you on? If it's 7.6.x (not sure about previous) you need to
open a form called SRS:SRCLaunchURLBuilder in the User Tool and configure the
SRD's to open in context via a specific generated URL.
There's more info in the SRM 7.6.04 Admin Guide. Page 320!

Hi Folks,
I have a basic question about how web services work.
I have defined a get-list web service that takes a user-specified
qualification and returns the Entry-Id (field C1) of the records that
match the qualification. No other fields are returned. I was expecting this
to generate a single
One thing we found was that if any of the CMDB forms (BMC.CORE:BMC_...) had
somehow been raised to an overlay then the upgrade would fail (not freeze
though).
Just something to check.

Hi,
I do not see how you can do much about this, it is how it has been
optimized by BMC.
To know in detail, you may need to turn on API-logging as well.
I suspect that you are seeing first a ARGetListEntry(WithFields), followed
by an ARGetMultiplEntries.
I guess they have been lazy in this
