How do you do the missions where the volume of the notes fades as you go along? There's a wolf fragment, which I somehow managed to complete, a dove fragment, and another one that I don't remember, but I can't figure out what I should do once I can no longer hear the notes.

Re: AudioGame Collaboration: Should We Do It?

- You could make a version of Candy Crush.- You could make an adventure game with objects in each room that you can interact with, and there could be little mini games. For example, if you are a knight at a tournament, you can do jousting, where you need to raise your shield and position your lance and horse correctly. There could also be detailed entities in each scene that anyone can add depth to. For example, talking to a merchant could yield details on their life. It would allow multiple levels of coding knowledge.- You could make a text adventure game with sounds. Like World of Legends or the Waists, but with sounds.- You could make an educational type of game with different minigames demonstrating different science or physics concepts. For example, if the game was showing Bernoulli's principle, you could have Romans making a set of pipes down to the city from a mountain lake, and they can't make the water flow too fast into each house.- You could make an arcade setup, where you are some person walking around and accessing different games people have made, and collecting points or achievements from each game.

Re: Please advise me on my situation.

Have you ever heard the proverb that a man cannot step in the same river twice, since it's never the same river, and he's not the same man. This is even truer of schools, since each school is slightly different, plus as you go up the school system, even if you stayed at the same school things would change drastically. After all, the way an eleven year old and the way a sixteen year old act are worlds apart, far more different than say a twenty one year old and a twenty six year old. Since your coming up to the older end of school, theoretically people should be starting to mature and idiocy should've stopped. Of course, that rule doesn't follow entirely either, but it is something to consider. For me as I said, the most reasonable age group I've found was 17-25, and the best time I had was the end of school and start of university, so hopefully things will work out well. Good luck.

Re: Bloodbath released!

probably shold do something aobut the machine gun, which has a very high spread range which means that if someone fires on you with it, you really can't avoid it no matter how much jumping you do. THe shotgun range could also be increased, since it's a pretty useless weapon right now. The pistol is sadly left in the dust since it doesn't have the hold to fire capabilities of the machine gun, I was thinking that one of the bullet types could screw with the player's orientation by spinning them 180 degrees or something so that they would start moving in the wrong direction, which you could use to your advantage, would give the weapon some character.

Re: Presenting Master of Orion, a space strategy game

2019-12-29 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — New releases room : Victorious via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Presenting Master of Orion, a space strategy game

Hi,Thanks Xcline for bringing this to our attention. I'm so excited and yet so depressed at the same time once I mastered the interface. Elated because this is probably one of the most complex accessible strategy games that I've found, and depressed because this was first released in the 1990s, so I can't imagine how much more intricate modern 4x games are like. Documentation feedback:1. This game was basically unplayable for me until I understood how the filters could be combined using the view command. The way that the in-game command reference is written would only make sense for someone used to reading documentation for CLI tools, so I think having examples of usage in the accompanying rtf reference would be useful. For example, "v 6 u" shows all unexplored planets, "v YC" shows all your colonies and "v OFT" shows enemy fleets and transport in range of your colony's scanners.2. It took me quite some time to figure out how the fs command was supposed to work, e.g to send 3 ships of design 4 to planet 5, you had to type "fs 5 0 0 0 3". An example would really be helpful here.3. Its not mentioned anywhere that you could refer to planets in 3 ways: by numbers, full name or by an offset. So for e.g, both "l -2" and "g +1" work.4. Could you add some info on how the governer works? Is it a feature in the original game, or one specific to this version? It sounds like it would be useful, especially on this game now where I have to manage 30 planets individually.5. When viewing the output of the fleets command on your own fleets, the numbers are displayed in accordance to the ship design order that you have. How does this work for enemy fleets? For e,g "Dist  8: IN ORBIT [43] (99,176) Tao                   0     0    19     0     0     0  Klackon". This could be a medium ship, or a huge ship potentially if the ordering changed.Bugs:1. attempting to toggle the planetary governer with gov causes the following error for me in some situations: "FATAL: lib_sprintf: buffer too small, need 12, have 12Cfg: saving configuration to '.\1oom_config_game_cmdline_nop.txt". This is also particularly nasty because it doesn't autosave for you on crash, so you get restored to the last save state. It keeps on happening on a specific planet, with 11 chars I suspect its a length limitation.2. I sometimes see the display of incoming "phantom fleets" of my ships when I use the look command while on it. They don't actually show up on the fleets screen and ship count don't change when they supposedly land, so I think this is a bug. There're some things that are much harder because all the information is presented textually:1. I find it really hard to get a sense for the geometry of the galaxy just by using coordinates alone. I think this would be a major problem for these types of 4x games, and not having easy access to information like where the boarders of your sphere of influence are and where it is adjacent to enemies makes certain things really hard. Has anyone found a way around this?2. Have you figured out how to control your ships manually in combat? So far I've always clicked auto resolve, but being able to manually control your own ships is critical for high level play and to properly utilize special devices which I don't think the AI can do for you.Feature requests:1. It would be extremely helpful if there was a filter for fleets with your planet as a destination, which can be combined with the O filter to check for invading enemy fleets. Otherwise, the best that can be done now is to crawl through the huge amount of output from the "v OFT" command. The look command should also show incoming enemy fleets on route to the target if you already have enough tech to be able to see that information with the v command. Similarly, some way of filtering output by race would be nice too.2. Another related idea is to have automatic notifications that an enemy fleet is approaching one of your colonies that appear when you advance to the next turn.3. I think other filters for the v command could also be useful though much less critical. E.g, by habitability, the presence of special bonuses like artifacts etc.4. The technologies screen is missing a display for your tech level.5. When given a choice to choose techs to research from, it would be helpful for the associated long description of the tech to be printed besides its name so that you don't have to look it up elsewhere.6. The look command doesn't display the class of planetary shield present. I understand you do see that info in the original game.

Re: AudioGame Collaboration: Should We Do It?

Well I am no coder, but if you need a beta tester either in source or compiled, as well as sound desighn, I can probably help.I have access to a few free and some payed libraries gdc mainly and a few others.I have a workstation with 16gb ram and one of the semi latest 2nd generation ryzen5 cpus.I allready use github to test beatstar sources and npm.If you need me I am here, I also have a load of time as my work is freelance contract. While that has occasionally landed me a high paying contract, most of them are reasonable, bar a few days a year, where I have government research which is worth more than any opensource project is in fact its my most highly payed gig of all, I should be able to handle most things unless it falls on weird days in spring, mid summer or winter. So basically if you want something and I am not about I am grinding my nose somewhere else for someone else, for cash and a meal so yeah bar that I can work all day and night. My timezone is gmt+12 hours, so for those of you on the other side of the world its probably likely I can't participate actively in any group else be outside the descussions but I can certainly talk on here, be in some email descussion group, etc.Skype, well I never liked the interface but if you guys are interested, I can setup a descussion group on groups.io for the project if people want to talk on there. It would be easier for me to well do whatever with that though I probably won't be talking all the time. When I did run on a skype group, I spent time reading messages and well I couldn't really be active. As long as you take that I am going to potentially answer questions up to a day behind then I can do it.Oh thats also why unless you ask I won't attend any audio conferences because timezone wize its just a total bastard. If you are in the us or europe then time is backward for me.If you are in some island nation or something like argenteena or something really weird maybe I can manage it but yeah.Oh and if you want me to test online my time will be limited due to timezone. Now if you are ok for that, but still think there is room for me to be night watchman or something thats fine.If not, oh well at least I put something up here.Sounds like you are getting enough interest.

I attended several schools myself, ranging from some that were comparatively nice (where ironically I was the only blind student), to a special school so regimented that there were bells for cleaning your teeth (I'm not joking), to a shit hole of a minstream school where knives were pulled on teachers. The fact that yours is a small school bodes  well since generally shitholes have larger numbers of pupils, but myself I'd agree with turtle power here, go in expecting things to go well and your more likely to get what you're expecting. not absolutely guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination, but the more relaxed you are generally in any situation the better, and horror stories from myself or from others probably won't help you in the relaxation department.

Re: Combat presentation in a text RPG game

Hi. That sounds fine, that way a player can review the log entry, and either play back log messages or check their character's status directly before moving on to their next turn of attack. I actually always liked the entombed numerical parts system, since it was a great way of letting the physical nature of your opponent play a part in the game, EG targeting a spider's fangs so it couldn't use webs at you. You could also make use of this with human opponents, for example attacking the limbs of an enemy wearing a breastplate, or attempting to stab at the legs of someone with a shield, to me that always gave more of a sense of the physical nature of combat and what I was fighting.

Has anyone tried ps2 emmulation on this thing? I have, and it's awsome and not at the same time. While games usually slow down and stutter to the point of being unplayable, it reads text flawlessly. Also, it doesn't seem to have any input lag, which I can really feel when using pcx2 even though it's slight.

Re: The electric perkins brailler

Also on that same website i gave to you, if you go to accessories or the parts page, you will see the electric brailler has more parts than the manual perkins brailler that costs around $770 or so. The manual standard or traditional perkins brailler that you all are familiar with costs $770 and has less parts than this electric perkins model which costs around $995 or so. And i saw in its parts list, some of the parts used to build it and you can buy and fix it if it breaks if you know how to fix the electrical components, some of those parts are solenoid parts. Maybe the solenoids make the electric brailler really loud like an embosser.

Re: The electric perkins brailler

No. I saw an electric perkins brailler back in 1985 or so. Do not confuse this with the perkins smart brailler that costs $2000 or so. The electric perkins brailler costs around $995. It has a power cord coming out of the side, an on off switch, the only difference between the manual brailler and electric brailler is as I said, it uses solenoids and other stuff to hammer the styluses into the paper against the metal carriage top to make the dot. And I can tell you it is quite a bit louder than a manual perkins brailler. So as far as I know, the electric perkins which lets you braille much faster, came out maybe in the mid 70s or early to mid 1980s.  Here is a link for the electric perkins brailler that I am talking about. With the manual brailler you have to press the keys quite hard. But with this electric perkins brailler, you just lightly tap the keys like you are typing on a computer keyboard or braille display keyboard. The link is:https://brailler.perkins.org/products/e … s-brailler

An old man and his grandchild sat together on an early evening.  The old man said, "Two lions struggle for your soul.  They fight like lions do, tearing each other apart, intent on being the conquering king.  They will fight as long as you live, both desperately longing to be victorious..."The old man continued, "One of them is everything evil you have ever known. He is pride, arrogance, anger, jealousy, greed, self-pity, guilt, shame, embarrassment and regret.  The other is all the good you have ever known.  He is joy, happiness, truth, justice, humility, peace, generosity, grace, mercy and forgiveness.  The battle between these two beasts goes on inside us all, each ready to die to destroy the other."After a long pause during which he thought of all he had just heard, the child spoke.  "Grandpa, which one will win in the end?"The grandfather smiled and quietly said, "The one you're willing to feed."

The lag is much much better and it’s hardly an issue now at least for me. Here are a few small suggestions.  Perhaps different items should have there own sounds, because in the real world you would probably be able to tell what something is before you pick it up. I feel some more should be added to the main map, perhaps  abandoned buildings and things of the like. I think some of these areas should’ve hazards just to make fighting more interesting.  Give the map a little more character.   As others have said, there should be health boost items and also items that will increase the  highest possible speed for a short time.

Once upon a time, a scientist in Spain who really hated bull-fighting decided that the only way to stop it was to create a talking bull. If, he reasoned, the bull was able to speak, to explain how painful and cruel a time the bull had in the bull ring, nobody but an utter sadist could bare the bull fights to continue. All that was needed, the scientist thought was a bit of common understanding and human decency would do the rest.so, the scientist worked very hard. He cross bred various species of cow, augmented the cow's brains, even surgically altered the cows teeth and tongues so that they could speak human speech. After 10 hard years work, he finally had it, an intelligent bull who  speak and reason. The scientist spent several more years educating his bull, the bull read ethics and philosophy, he studied the arts, read many classic novels, even learnt mathematics and algebra, though the scientist was always careful to make sure the bull never read anything with a reference to bullfighting since he did not want to bias his experiment. The bull indeed was a peaceful creature, who loved all living things, and even tried to avoid eating flowers as he grazed because he didn't want to kill the bees. The scientist indeed had almost decided the bull was far too beautiful and gentle a spirit to complete his experiment, accept that a local matador saw the bull grazing beside the lab, and seeing that it was obviously such a fine, strong looking bull, thought it would be perfect for the arena. The night before the big fight, the scientist talked patiently to the bull. The bull reaffirmed the fact that he loved all living things, that life was sacred, that violence was only justifiable when all other methods had failed, and even then, only the minimal amount of violence necessary for self defence. The next day, the gates and the bull ring opened. In one side strode the matador,, swirling his red cape and flourishing his sword. In the other came  the bull, one of the picador's lances stuck in it's behind.the Bull didn't wait for the bell, but lowered his head and charged straight forward, the matador only just getting out of the way. "but what about non violence? What about peaceful means?" The scientist shouted to the bull. "He's got a sword! " The bull replied. The scientist tried shouting again, but with the thunder of his hooves, the bull couldn't hear him. The bull, being especially intelligent, killed the matador, but was badly wounded itself in the process. The scientist was able to speak to the bull at the end. "why didn't you use your words, why didn't you talk to him? Why didn't you explain that you were another rational creature." The bull replied. "The pain is mightier than the words."

@29, you may not be outright stating that you want him to be on high alert, but you might as well be. Trust me, I know all about assholes in the education system. The positive experiences I had in school were few and far between. However, there's a time and a place to bring that kind of thing up, and this wasn't it. It kind of makes you sound as though you were trumpeting your own experiences for the sake of having people respond to them. Even if that's not the case, this guy has most likely ruminated on every bad scenario his mind can conjure up. He's very obviously quite distressed about the possibility of something bad happening. He doesn't need any more negativity being fed to him in that state. If I'm saying this, and I freely admit to being quite a negative person most of the time myself, maybe you should try to be a little more encouraging. If he were to come back in a month and post about how sucky things are, then yeah, that's a whole different ball game, provide all the empathy and commiseration you want, as I'm sure many of us would do, but don't make a mountain out of a molehill where there might not be one.

"why didn't you use your words, why didn't you talk to him" The bull replied. "my pain is mightier than his sword."

Re: Please advise me on my situation.

@Mads, not sure where you are in the world, and glad the big stand up intro worked for you. I know for myself though and as far as culture in the UK goes, the sort of stand up introduction about blindness in front of the group you describe would be a generally bad idea, especially if I were nervous before hand. On the other hand I've never been to South Africa and have no idea what things are like there, so RTT will have to make up his own mind. RTT, oddly enough your "high my name is george" speech is roughly what I'd suggest, though in the context  a conversation not a monologue. For example: "Hi." Hi I'm george?" "Hi I'm Bob. how do you use a computer if you can't see the screen?" "i use a screen reader, it speaks as I write, I also play computer games. "How do you do that if you can't see them?" "well I listen to the audio etc." Don't refuse to talk about the blindness, or to answer people's questions, just make blindness part of what you do, not the main thing you do, be happy to chat about whatever else, and only go into the blind part if it happens to come up, indeed I've tended to find myself that once you've chatted to someone about other things for a while, and they finally get comfortable enough to get to the the "have you always been blind" or "how much can you see" question, you have usually passed the gulf and someone will actually start treating you like a human being, you can then start on getting to know them .

@Mektastic, yes, incremental games can be quite relaxing. As regards trimps, well really we probably ought to move the discussion to the Trimps topic, but for sake of arguement first Have a look at this guide, on the trimps wiki. Also check the db page where I talk about the screen. I'm not entirely sure what the loop you mention was, unless you had either accidently paused the game (you can do this by hitting spacebar, though it's possible to disable in settings), or if you'd gone away from the game for a bit and the trimps were doing the timewarp catchup, since you can't interact until they've finished.

Re: infini crawl, text dungeon crawling rpg similar to the wastes.

I like the idea of different enemy types doing effects, especially if you need to save up items to deal with them.~As far as starting scene goes, distinguishing higher difficulty with a higher ratio of total scene makes sense, it's just as you said, that between extra bonuses from prestieges and bonus xp, you can still start as a bit of a monster, I'd personally suggest adding on the character's starting level, that way the bonus xp a character has  influences where they start directly, but the level would still be low enough to build up some items. Poison I've actually found quite deadly in some circumstances being as it does continual damage, another reason why I like the idea of poison being enemy specific. Curses are more an annoyance, but can be a true hazard at really high levels when your trying to use an uba trank on something. With respect to pack ordering, I wouldn't recommend sorting items by name, since then you'd have similar items changing all over the place, EG   breezy cuffs at the beginning, but your windy cuffs right at the end. Likewise, I'd not personally be a fan of sorting by level, since I wouldn't  want to need to tab through gear to find consumables or visa versa.I personally liked the order as it was before, with most recent at the top, that way when you pick up a new piece of gear and want to equip it you can do so straight away, and only need to sort through the inventory when your looking for a specific consumable or selling to the merchant. If you wanted something more complex, perhaps allow several sorting options available in settings for the player to choose between as they wish. You could also consider adding a few filters for the pack towards the bottom such as show gear, show all or show items, though I don't know how complicated you want to get with the interface there.

Crafting is on the list, also weapon upgrades, replacing enchantments, etc. Also environmental amenities like fishing holes and things. The area tab opens up a lot of possibilities and i'm going to explore a lot of them Oh, also, you should be aware, there is a minor bug that someone on itch.io reported with the tab, apparently chest items are not going into the area tab when your inventory is full, working on fixing that right now. So make sure you have open inventory when you open a chest for the moment.dark wrote:Lastly, as a miner request, once the settings tab is done, any chance of please having the option to change the order of pack items to most recent at the top as it was previously?Ahh, I was wondering if anyone would notice. That was changed for browser compatibility. I can code around it though, I was relying on newer browsers' default behavior to sort it the other way, when I realized that I had previously done that I changed it during the last update, to be more compatible. I can change it back, and/or add it to the list of setting options. Or would it be better if I can figure out a sorting function to sort by name/level/whatever?

Re: Bloodbath released!

what about balancing the ultrabombs which i wrote before? Also, can you add mouse support? It would be a lot more realistic i think. Also, a new idea of snipers, based on mouse control. Or you can modify to keyboard if it seems better. So, aiming mode with the rifle. Holding right button of the mouse, should activate a thing like swamp's scope mode with the m40. Like when you start to examine the world using a scope in real. And you should shoot from that position. The other sounds e.g. an other player nearby should be decreased in voice cuz you're listening further. Mine sound should be removed too. Seems a bit unusable if the opponent knows where must jump. If you forgot the mine nah that sucks but this is mines for, surprise detonating whoever steps on them. The thing, in post 202 vehicles would be good too. Just not in the mode which tk had, they should respawn on some locations, and players should enter in it, and not carrying them in a bag... It would be a bit heavy They should be motorcicles which only gives speedup in travel, armed cars tanks things like that. Also, they should be a bit more realistic if e.g in the tank an other person could only operate the weapons. So one who drives the tank and one who mans the weapon turret. Against these vehicles there should be remote bombs like the claimores in redspot or timebombs mines could harm them too. Just knifes and fists no at least... I know it's not easy to code them, just gave ideas

Re: Bloodbath released!

Ivan, personally I thought my idea was pretty good. I will say this; I'm mostly certain the method I suggested is the norm for mainstream, thus probably explains the attention they get. In many FPS's you'll find that people are often playing on their own little teams, having fun among their own group of friends, and moderating who's allowed in their team or not. Nevertheless, this is your game, and so I won't pressure you with this suggestion any further. It's up to you whether or not you wish to implement this; all I can do is tell you what I think the better method is in my personal opinion. That, and wish the both of you the best of luck with your project.

The electric perkins brailler

2019-12-29 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : joshknnd1982 via Audiogames-reflector

The electric perkins brailler

So has anyone on this forum used the electric perkins brailler? What do you like about it versus a regular manual perkins brailler? I got to use one back in 2011, and it was like writing using a brailleNote or braille display with a perkins keyboard. I could write braille a lot faster with it than I could with the regular manual brailler. I'm thinking of saving money and getting an electric perkins brailler, because sometimes if I try writing real fast the keys on the manual brailler can temporarily lock up. And if I remember correctly, the electric perkins brailler sort of sounds like a braille embosser. So how many of you have the electric perkins brailler, and what do you like about it? Also, when was the electric perkins brailler invented, and by who? I also looked at its parts list and it uses solenoids like a braille embosser, sort of, at least for punching or hammering the styluses into the paper. And if I remember correctly, the electric perkins brailler is also quite a bit louder than a manual brailler, probably as loud as a computer braille embosser. And it is the only brailler that comes with a felt pad you can put under it to try to lessen the sound. But I would not use the felt pad because I like things that are loud.

Hi AG People,Well, how can I explain it without sounding unpleasant? It's going to be so much hard, so:It's a simple fps. A fps like dozens of fps we've known. I'm not going to pretend that the code was stolen, I'm way above that and I don't care because anyway, even if the code is different, the game is like any other.Impossible to play properly because there is a light year between actions and reactions. Of course, programming is good, but running a game without a proper server is something else. Yes, I know you were hoping for donations to get it hosted properly. But why give for a game that still has no originality? Why would you lose money on something that's not finished and then stop like that along the way?Always the same crappy speed hack system, like in all the games, and always crappy bgt. It lag when you use the machine gun like in the first versions of the killer, speaking of it we also have the ultra bombs, probably because the developer of tk is around... before it was removed we were hungry, like in ultra power and redspot, but the management was done like for UP... .The weapons are named as in the early versions of ultra power.I'm not going to lie about all weapons types, because there's always been similar things and because you don't have to look for originality everywhere, there's stuff that's just there for diversity. But speaking of diversity, what's next? planes and tanks with metal, shelters with woods? item grabbers? bike ? parachute and propultion jets? Remote guns? I guess you see where I'm going with this, don't you?I can already hear you telling me that I should learn how to code before I speak and I won't entirely blame you. However, I think players have a right to expect something that entertains and surprises them, something exhilarating and different from what they've experienced. A place where they want to come back to and perhaps even pay for continuity.I'd rather see the audio games disappear than stay with the idea of doing the same round ten times with a different developer for each round. It's sad, it's tiring. You know what the worst part is? Some of the games that have gotten older like Super Liam are much more innovative than what we see today, and I'm not aiming at the fps but most of what I'm testing.Every time I think "oh cool, something new, a different hobby. Then disappointment.Of course, all isn't lost, we still have great games like VGStorm, Oriol and L-Works, for example. Yukio's BK's made me experience memorable things too. I might as well get off with balloon master. Yeah, I know, it's still pure arcade. But I'm having even more fun with it, find the mistake. Finding a game worth playing today is like playing the lottery.I'm sorry about all this, really. It had to come down to this topic which was already not far from the armageddon. But so be it.

Re: Bloodbath released!

Hi,Let me first just say that I completely disagree with the hole you must be a developer to criticise other developers thing, at least in cases where the criticism doesn't involve anything to do with code, and I won't take you any less seriously because of that.Secondly, yes I know the game could have done with more testing. As I've said, we thought it was stable, we didn't do as much testing as we probably should have done and the beta team was pretty disorganised throughout development. I gave a bad impression. With that said, know that we are trying to hammer out bugs and make the game better and more original. All we ask is that you come at us with an open mind. Games like these are largely community driven by their very nature, so if the community won't help the game will suffer as a result. Of corse me and Ivan have ideas, but we only have a limited supply of those. On another note, I just released another update with more fixes to speedhack detection, a new client MOTD system, ability to mute and unmute chats and online / offline messages, etc. Check it out.

OK, so you essentially have 2 6-dot braille cells. For the number 84, as you gave, you would hit f on dots 1, 2, and 5 on cell 1. Then, in cell 2, hit dots 1, 4, and 5. It will work.
