Re: Braillemon status update!

So the basic setup I designed for the hideout is this.Room 1F is the base floor, theres a locked portion which has the access to the lift. Room 2F has some warp puzzles and a booby trapped zone where you will run into powerful explosive pokemon, so be prepared. Before trying to solve the puzzle on Room 3F, make sure you pick up the Lift Key from the rocket after the booby trapped zone. I took out access to the lift on 2F.After that, there are two holes. Fall through the correct one, and on 3F youll encounter another booby trapped zone. The incorrect zone returns you back to the start of 2F. Anyways, the correct warp will warp you back to Room 1F, behind the locked door. Battle the grunt and use the lift. Also, Battling the grunt opens the door for easy access. Go to 4F. Theres a warp that will lead back to 3F, which has the stairs to Giovannis office.Does this sound like something that would be interesting or do you think I need
a little more work on it?

Re: memories of a spammer.

Hi The Terminator,We all make mistakes and definitely learn from them.I’ve been a part of an online forum if you know which is called playroom. I was a troublemaker whenever I liked. I remember about two years ago when the chat was enabled in the mainroom. I used to enter on that forum and chat like fighting with my close friend. It felt so good because we were fighting and on the other hand we were laughing because people thought we were bullying each other seriously and they offered solution to our problems that we were talking about. Also I spammed there whenever my mind desired. I remember insulting a girl who banned me from her table. We were talking on a discussion about sex, and I started saying lots and lots of things she didn’t like. As far as I remember, her name was Shamica, and by the time she banned me from there, I started getting angry. She blocked me. Well I didn’t have any choice apart from typing offencive words on the mainroom about her. For instance, Shamica is a b*tch, Shamica is a slut etc.In the next month I ran into this girl again. She had insulted my close friend and I had to take revenge. The situation started getting hot under the collar and she banned me again from the table. Through my friend I wrote a message to her. “Listen, if you do not change your behavior, I will act with you like I did previously.”She asked for forgiveness and I felt really glad when I got that message from her. It was so good to have people under your finger. But she was not the only case. There were more people insulted by me.All these things felt so good to me, once upon a time. But now, no more. Some of those people are now my friends and we know how to get along with each other. We play games or make conversations. That’s it. You learn from your mistakes and they help you drive in another direction.

Hello,You could try clearing data on the talkback app. You could rather uninstall the update of talkback and reinstall it again. If that doesnt help than factory reset would be the option which would solve your problem without a doubt. But dont choose factory reset before trying the above suggestion I gave.

Are you looking for Braillemon? The current release is here.https://www.dropbox.com/s/v4n08tale65w8 … 0.zip?dl=0This game isnt complete yet and is pretty buggy so be warned.Theres also a Pokemon Crystal accessible port here; this is just a set of scripts that help enable accessibility with the original game though, so there are some accessibility problems (discussed more in the thread)http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=16302So Braillemon is buggy but more accessible, Crystal is the exact game but less accessible.

that puts you in a very competitive position. Now youre basically just another sighted game on the market, with only the distinction that blind people can play your game to push it apart. Again, that little extra spin is key to having any access to the sighted market.I mean its kind of disappointing too, there are a lot of titles that with a little here and there would be completely accessible (FNAF comes to mind, unless Im mistaken). And theres no excuse for Steam being so inaccessible other than the fact that blind people dont use it.

@Cw, I know there have been lots of attempts by people to make space based muds by essentially playing with similar code basis, cosmos, vast space, humanity, space agents, god knows there have been lots, and usually they wind up crashing and burning in flames due to massive amounts of drama. Promethius however is not one of those at all. The mud has now been established foor a good while (at least a couple of years), and as you will gather from this thread has plenty of unique specific coded activities and locations and what not being added frequently, plus a very active staff who respond quickly to player requests and suggestions. While Ive not spent as much time with the game as I would like, Id still say theres some dedicated work going on here and if you fancy a space game without the usual douchebaggery Id recommend giving it a try.

Re: miriani mud

Actually cw, the deathstars weakness was not big. in ship terms it was very, very tiny! remember how luke said the vent into the reactor core that he had to shoot down was less than two meters? and that after going down a very long trench on the deathstars surface under very heavy fire.Ideally in a pvp system I agree that the potential should always be there for the skillfull player to beat the big guns, but building such a system takes amazing and subtle care indeed and probably couldnt be done in a progressive game like a mud. I do though like the idea of ships systems having the potential to break down and then need fixing by your crew, after all what was most of the engineering crew on startrek doing for much of the time? Actually that could be a fun interaction, especially when exploring, sinse itd be something youd have to manage, like maybe needing to patch the systems until you could get to a starbase
or settlement, or maybe land on some desolate moon somewhere, mine up some metal and smelt into parts you could jory rig.

Re: New Infinite Apocalpytic Procedural Ascii Game "The Wastes"

I must say that the reaction to this game is really startling and I can see a whole new group of games being made off this console idea.I made a console game a while back that was kind of bad, but I didnt think people would spend the time to go through the screen.Congrats Wastelander, the wastes will probably be what people point to when they talk about console games! So much for World of Legends!

Re: considering selling our audiogames via steam

2015-07-16 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Sightless Kombat via Audiogames-reflector

Re: considering selling our audiogames via steam

I know Im a little late to the discussion here, but I want to argue in favour of steam. Contrary to popular belief, Steam is functional, if partially, with NVDA. It just takes patience, which I will say bluntly, doesnt seem to be forthcoming with certain people. I will attempt to address some of the issues listed above, but forgive me if I miss anything.@DarkYou stated in your first post on this discussion that people have used ocr and screen guess work and obscure Nvda addons and god knows what else. I know you go on to state that sighted people dont have to expend that much effort and in doing so I will acknowledge that you are quite correct. However, I notice flaws in your and other peoples arguments that I will address here. The first flaw I want to bring up is the fact that I have never, in the time Ive used Steam, had to use any obscure NVDA addons or OCR&
quot;. In fact, you dont have to modify NVDA at all to use Steam, its Steam that needs modification (in the sense that you only need sighted help for disabling what I considered to be a far too overprotective security system called Steam Guard.) Once the account is set up and the security system/captchas solved where necessary, the steam system is pretty much totally usable. Game invites, downloading, removing, adjusting launch options etc are all possible and easy enough to get going.@Ironcross32Although I know your post is one of opinion - clearly identifyable in your use of the words the most inaccessible client I know of, I am not surewhether youve looked at the steam or the skullgirls guides. This is because they pretty much disprove the theory that you have to have any vision at all to use steam.@daigoniteWhilst I greatly admire your perseverence with Steam and screen reader usage, especially consi
dering your sighted background as well, Steam does require the use of flat review to get it to work with NVDA. Once you get flat review as a concept its not too hard, but it can be a little tricky at first.@everyoneWhilst I acknowledge that it can be difficult for a lot of people on here to use Steam for whatever reason, I also think that, if tackled in the right way, it could become a more viable distribution platform than Guide Dog Games. Whilst Im really not a fan of the name (at least at present), I understand that the concept is the same. However, AVG (which I refuse to uninstall due to me having no knowledge of a better alternative at this point in time) has had no end of problems with the client. Steam, however, causes no such issue and consequently works 99.9% of the time. If there is a problem, its rarely, if ever due to the distribution platform, but normally (for me at least) due to my internet connection at the
time of launch.Additionally, Steam does have an offline mode, unlike its smaller, currently blind-centric competitor. This means that if ever I want to play Mortal Kombat, Skullgirls or any other game of my choosing on the go or without an internet connection, I can do so. That in addition to it supporting Pay Pal makes it a clear front runner at the current moment.I know GDG is currently in the process of trying to get off the ground as well, so I am aware of the fact that these quibbles may be ironed out in the future. As a result, I wont rule out the relative underdog completely, but will say that I believe itll be some time before it comes up to Steam in level of functionality and ease of use.I cannot currently speak for whether the voting system and the greenlighting strategies employed by Valve are as difficult to work with as you say, but I understand that it could present a problem.I will conclude this post by
saying that whilst I appreciate what has been said and why it has been said, in what capacity I can, I also believe that Steam could be a viable distribution mechanism for those who can and choose to use it.

About audio formats FLAC and MP3

2015-07-16 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : yjsiu via Audiogames-reflector

About audio formats FLAC and MP3

How to use FLAC MP3 has been the most popular format for internet audio for a long time, and MP3 files can be played back by almost any audio soft- or hardware. How does FLAC compare?Listening on a (more or less portable) media player You need a media player that supports FLAC. The FLAC homepage hosts a list of media players and keeps it up to date, better than we could. There may also be firmware updates available for your media player that add FLAC support. Any FLAC-compatible player should be able to play our 16-bit FLACs. If your player doesnt have a 24-bit chip, studio quality FLACs may still play, but reduced to whatever quality the player supports (see its manual).Listening on a computerFor this, you need a playing software that supports FLAC. Neither Windows Media Player nor iTunes currently do this without the need to install additional plugins, and even with these, they may only play 16-bit FLACs. If you want to try, here
are links for Windows and Macintosh. For a full-featured FLAC playback, we would recommend that you choose a media player software that inherently supports FLAC, such as MediaMonkey, Winamp or Foobar2000 for Windows, and VLC or Play for Macintosh. For further alternatives, please look at this more detailed list of software players. As opposed to standalone media players, many computers are not primarily built to play music. Their built-in analogue audio outputs are often quite noisy, and 24-bit support is not very common. Generally speaking, you get a much better sound if you let an external D/A converter or AV receiver do the D/A conversion. Send the audio there by digital means such as optical or coaxial S/PDIF lines or the HDMI standard (for which you need a sound or video card with one of these connectors). For studio quality files, please check that your D/A converter supports the resolution of the files you intend to play.Having said that - the
re are, of course, some more advanced - often external - analogue audio interfaces that deliver a decent quality too.Burning files onto audio CDsYou can easily do this with our 16-bit FLACs, since theyre always at audio CD resolution. Some media players can burn CDs straight from the playlist. Standard burning software (such as Nero or Toast) may already have FLAC support or can have it added. And there are a few smaller programs that can burn FLAC compilations too. If you want to have 24-bit audio on a playable disc, you need to burn the 24-bit FLACs onto a DVD. In this case, DVD means either DVD-Audio or DVD-Video, and in both cases, a process called authoring is required. Standard burning programs for data DVDs cant do this, so you need special software.DVD-Audio supports basically all our 24-bit FLACs (in terms of sample rate), but can only be played back on advanced players. As can be expected, such players have a s
trong focus on audio quality, which makes DVD-Audio the best choice if your player supports it.DVD-Video (the most common DVD format) also supports 24-bit audio, but has some restrictions. The possible sample rates are only two: 48 and 96 kHz. If your 24-bit FLAC file has a different sample rate, you must convert it first. (Please note that the final result will depend on how well the conversion process is done). Moreover, many players apparently discard some of the audio data (footnote), so by using DVD-Video, you may lose some of the original file information.Original Sample RateWhat we call Original sample rate is the PCM sample rate of the highest bit rate files we receive from the labels. The highest bit rate download we offer will have the same sample rate. We ask the labels to give us the highest meaningful quality in which they have the recording. If they didnt convert rates during the postproduction, this will be the sample
rate in which the album was recorded. But we cannot know each labels signal chain for each album. We trust them that they dont deliver upsampled recordings (contact our support if you think you found a black sheep). Should they send sample rates lower than the original, they obviously have no other choice (at present). Even there, we cant know whether a higher version maybe exists. We understand that the above may be considered inaccurate for DSD recordings. Of course, there the original sample rate was 2.8224 MHz. And some people will definitely want to have the better DSD originals, no PCM conversions. But since we decided to only deal with PCM files at eClassical (up to now), we write what you will get when you buy the album. Unless looking up each album manually, we wont even know whether it has been DSD once - or maybe just some tracks of it? That information rests with the labels. Therefore, should i
t be essential for you to know whether a 88.2 or 96 kHz album originates from a DSD recording, we must ask you to check this with the respective label or read in the enclosed booklet. This is what our term original means in detail. We hope

alteraeon has to be my favorite. As for space based muds, I know that there is star conquest and miriani. Star conquest has the profile thing where you have to have a RP story line aproved before you can get beyond a point, but up side is that there is usually vary little griefing and the like. Fluxworld is interesting in deed. As for the band dark, maybe it would be going off topic by a bit by complaining about how bad miriani is or will it be because of my offer to make a bias recording of miriani. Then again, Most likely not. LOL. Anyway, I will have to give Prometheus a try at some point. I do have an interest in space based muds. I just havent yet found the perfict one yet.

Re: What do people believe when it comes to religion and or spirituality?

@Nocturnus:I liked your Little speech about the pointlessness of life... However, Im not sure I agree. Sure, at the first glance there is no point to living if we just fade away and die after a hundred years...The way I look at it though is, as Carl Sagan once said, We are ways for the cosmos to know itself. Since the atoms that make up our body, and everything around us for that matter, once were formed in the cores of stars, we are just as much part of the universe as the bacteria you mentioned, the waves of the ocean or stars we have yet to discover. The way I see it is not that life is pointless, it is instead, cosmos way to examine itself. I find joy in knowing that, somehow, nature made part of itself intelligent enough to question the Things around it, or... question itself I guess is actually the case...I guess you could say that I have my own Little pocket religion there, I dont know. I do know though that science, because of
this, seems like a better choice, at least for me, since that will slowly give the answers we seek. One of these questions are of course how the World began. I cant answer that any better than anyone else, but there are quite a few theories about it so far. I guess I wont deny the existence of some kind of natural force that could have made the universe possible... I guess we could call this force God... I just dontbelieve that God is activily taking part in how its creations evolve. To be honest I lean more towards the thought of multiverses, not because its proven oranything, I dont think it is, but because it kind of makes sense to me...This post is getting long, so I guess Ill stop here. As a treat for reading all of this silly nonsense Ill throw you yet another link, this time its to a YouTube video that I like quite a bit: What is a God?

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) shrinks audio files to about half their original size without losing any of the information, a so-called lossless compression. In the case of 16-bit FLAC, the resulting files are still about twice as large as top quality MP3 files, but they contain all the audio that you would get if you bought the physical CD in your local record shop. Our 16-bit FLACs are always at a sample rate of 44.1 kHz, so their audio data is compatible with basically all playback hardware.24-bit FLACs (studio quality) are the highest quality we can offer. They are substantially superior to CD quality, i.e. even closer to the live experience. You will find many recent albums (and many more to come!) in this format. The sample rate of these files varies, depending on the rate that was used for the recording in question. It ranges up to 192 kHz, which may easily cause the file size for o
ne such album to reach a gigabyte, despite the packing capacity of FLAC. So you need a fast internet connection to download such files, but theyre worth it.Here is useful guide with more info about 24 bit FLAC http://www.3tk.net

I find joy in knowing that, somehow, nature made part of itself intelligent enough to question the Things around it, or... question itself I guess is actually the case...As for disappearing when we die... We dont really do that either. True, our consciousness most likely ceases to exist, but th
e atoms that once were us will return to the nature and become part of other Things, and as you say, our memories live on in those we leave behind, although they shall fade away too eventually.I guess you could say that I have my own Little pocket religion here, I dont know. I do know though that science, because of this, seems like a better choice, at least for me, since that will slowly give the answers we seek. To be honest I lean more towards the thought of multiverses, not because its proven oranything, I dont think it is, but because it kind of make
s sense to me...This post is getting long, so I guess Ill stop here. As a treat for reading all of this silly nonsense Ill throw you yet another link, this time its to a YouTube video that I like quite a bit: What is a God?

Hey Danny question. Earlier today or actually yesterday, I marked a star system, landed on a planet, I named the planet, Anyways I brought up the building menu just to see what options were in the menu for me to build, and it said I dont own this colony. Why would it be saying that if Ive named the planet, Also When I first landed on the planet I started to collect resources to build, then I had to log off for some reason, cant remember why, and when I came back, their wernt any items when I did another scan. Any help would be great thanks, and hey I love the game.

@Gene, I suggest you reread the moderation warning, I thought I made it pretty clear that the issue was your tone, not that you found something frustrating or that you had problems, sinse you know, so has everyone else at one time or another! Things that dont work or you dont find easy to do and that bloody frustrate you are part of living with a visual imparement, get used to it!If you cannot cope with something that is frustrating without lashing out at those around you in a bhuge negative spiral and reffusing to accept anyones attempts to help, then you probably should leave sinse your inevitably going to step over the edge into the teretory of attacking others one of these days, and as I have said before any moderating I do is for the good of the community. If you choose to go on believing Im the bad guy and this is all personal, well its up to you, one thing this topic has shown me is that you dont easily change your mind once
it is made up. Enough drama however, Now, back to the wastes! @Tbn, Id personally prefer my hp and weapon stats shown utside of battle too, sinse that way I can make decisions on whether to go into a dungeon or see how badly a fall during mountain climbing has affected me, then again sinse Im reading with a virtual curser rather than just having the hole screen spoken, I only read the stats when I choose to read that portion of the screen. This is however why some sort of options toggle on what is displayed might be a good thing if it is possible, sinse that way everyone can have things the way they want. @Aaron, Id also recommend going to Thewastes subreddit and looking at the link to warsim there sinse it leads to a youtube demonstration of the game that explains a few things. Warsim is rather more complicated to get into than the wastes, and I admit Ive not done so yet completely myself , but access is alr
eady all there, no ascii and no off screen scrolling menus, so feel free to have a try. Ill be trying the next version of Thewastes this afternoon, sinse if I try it this morning Ill not do anything else today .

Re: New Infinite Apocalpytic Procedural Ascii Game "The Wastes"

@wastelander, the modifications seem perfect thus far from where Im standing, just what was needed, thanks a lot.On the options and display thing, I dont know if there is a best for screen readers in this respect, not with a turn based game. (realtime is another story). Generally it depends upon how people are using their screen reading programs and also what peoples preferences are, as I said I personally like having info such s name, hp and at least weapon displayed as well as region info, but thats me. Hopefully you can get the ini to save peoples option preferences file setup first sinse having to reset the screen prompt eachgame would be a little urcsome if it wasnt to my taste.Good to know about mutations, it also confirms what I suspected about yellow viles (the survival guide on the submreddit mentioned the green ones butnot the yelow). It might be good though if there was a way to reverse muta
tions. In my last game I got skullrot, and pretty much committed suicide sinse it seeme I could no longer advance. One idea might be to have a surgion in the towns who can remove mutations, but not lower your mutation level, (Im thinking of the drills and knives and bolt cutters type of surgion here).Another might be to give negative mutations a positive spin if you can survive them for long enough. For example, enough turns surviving the skinrot conditions could result in hardened skin, making you tougher. Enough living with arm or leg tumas could give you gnarled arms and that increase your attack power and strength, or thickened legs that give you an increased travel speed, ie, your rate of exploration of the region is faster. Enough time living with skullrot could give you brain adaptation, ieincreased intelligence and perk points per level. the kick however is that you wouldnt know how long you would need to live with the negative
mutation until you got the positive effect, so wouldnt know whether it was a good idea to go to the surgion and get your rotting skull bolted back together or get your tumers sawn off.Oh, and just for amusement value, it turns out A boy named Sue is unlucky (there is a surprise), sinse not only did he have a father with an ironic sense of humour, but he also got skullrot! sue travelled through 69 places in the wasteland, he died at level 5 and the last thing he saw was a Master Brock in the region known as Harkroad Commonssue travelled through Freds Craters into the expansive wastes of Oldfield Crater, from there he passed into the expansive wastes of Harkroad Commons Where his journey ended.---SKILLSHealth - 120Strength - 9Agility

Hi Wastelander:Tahnks a lot for this absolutely needed little mutationmanual! It will become a special txt-file.I had a nice run this morning. You will find it below.First i have some sugestions:In case of accessibillity, could you change the numerical order of what is presented on screen? On top you allways have the characterstatus wich is often readed by our screenreaders. Could you make it appear at the end of the screen and the mainhappenings on the beginning? So we would allways have the important things first.Uuuuh, i hope you understood what i wanted to say.OK, here comes another idea for the game it self. Have you thought about bringing in days and nights? Maybe every subarea takes one hour. and a level 1 area could change to a level 3 area at night. Or special things will only happen in daytime. Or it would be harder to climb over a mountain at night. So you would need a higher level. Thanks again for all the fun i have had this mo

Re: miriani mud

@Dentin, That wil be a nice crimble present indeed . Ive always wanted a space game that is all about the exploring, but unfortunately all the ones Ive seen are heavily into the pvp for some reason, both browser based and otherwise. There are a few exceptions, but theyre rare and they dont usually give that feeling of guiding your ship and crew around a huge universe just seeing what you can find, dealing with all the accompanying problems external and internal, but out to explore space not to blow up fellow captains.I actually have a similar issue with a lot of the colony building games (even aforesaid wayfare1444), sinse basically everything is just about static number crunching, the alien planets are just this produces x units of iron ore, x units of crystal and so much energy per tick and your population are jus
t a static number. No where is the sense of being on an alient world with alient creatures, or of any of the things youd really need to dynamically manage in a colony, like your miners going on strike for having a boring job, or the rain getting into your food stores, or your electronics crashing or a sandworm swallowing your favourite smelting plant . I know Stellar Aeon at the moment is all about managing the ships not the colonies, but this probably shows why Im excited, sinse exploration based gameplay and gameplay based on judgement is much more what Id love from the experience of a space game than just minimax and pound away. @Cw, Promethius has its moments, especially the lack of pvp, though I admit Ive not played as much of the game particularly lately. The two things that make me a wee bit reluctant about the game are firstly
that there are places the writing feels a little patchy, including areas of unfinished description, and secondly that some of the activities you have to do feel a bit feel as if there should be a bit more background as to why things are done that way. For example, Im certainly not against a planet of hunting and horse riding in a space setting, but Id prefer to know exactly why, is it a low tech civilization so people have to blend in with the locals? Just saying Its a hunting lodge and there for fun doesnt quite give the sense of immertion for me. I admit though, there are many parts of promethius Ive not seen, and of course additions are made constantly so it is entirely possible things have improved here, indeed I already know there are more activities than when I last playyed.

Re: flac(lossless) vs mp3 (320 bitrate) - music files

I for one dont notice the difference between wav audio straight from cd and 128kbps mp3 at all.The only time Ill get any kind of an issue is when down converting a recording of a game or something like that, where the mp3 will distort. For music ripping though, Ive never noticed even the slightest difference.Given that a flac cd requires 150+mb (iirc a 44.1/16 cd was 300mb or so), Im quite happy with my mp3s.Personally, Im of the opinion that those folks who try to start using flac on their tablets/phones/other devices with 8-16gb of storage are in for some fun.

There is a trial version though so theres no harm in trying it, and even after the trial expires you can go on using it for free, you just will have to manually update the database and scan and I dont think you get the realtime protection.Ive just boght the subscription though this morning, sinse Ive found malware bites very handy for deaing dealing with all the none virusy stuff Avg doesnt handle.

Re: Anyone still have Clipboard2sapi?

Id need a bit more info to implement this, but either way I dont think itd be tough to do.The two interfaces Im currently looking at are:*a small program, to which you make a shortcut on the desktop. You then activate that shortcut via hotkey, the program runs and announces the contents of the clipboard.*A program that runs in its own window, and monitors the contents of the clipboard. Itd probably update 5 or 10 times per second, presuming thatd be enough to catch all the info you needed from the game, and whenever the contents of the clipboard changes, itd speak it through your reader/sapi. The downside to this is that itd happily read out a 50 page document youve just copied to paste somewhere else. Let me know which one youre thinking of - either one should take me less than 5 minutes to put together.

2015-07-16 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Dark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: The best video game soundtracks?

@Devin, a novelization of secret of mana would be quite the task, though there is a script on gamefaqs, howeer I agee its one of the nicest soundtracks ever! Chrono trigger I find a bit random, I still need to hear chrono cross. As to the story of megaman, wel the megaman network has some pretty comprehensive articles on their wiki: Find it here Broadly speaking, there are five main series in the plot, plus the alternative exe and starforce series. The Mega man classic series (as its now known), begins in 20 xx, and involves Mega man, a humanoid battle robot designed by dr. light together with his sister Roll, and friends like auto the mechanic and rush the robotic dog, thrwarting the schemes of the evil Dr. Wily and his robot masters. this is all pretty commic stuff, like youd see in a cartoon series, for example Mega man 4 involves a threat supposed
ly from the Russian robot designer Dr. Kossak, who threatens to send his own robots after Mega man, however it turns out Wily kidnapped Kossaks daughter Calinca to force him to cooperate. its light and rather funny and to be honest as a written plot sounds very! hacknied, sinse its the games, the design of the stages and the different robot masters you fight and ow they attack that makes things awesome (the awesome soundtracks dont hurt either). The mega man x series is set in 21 xx, a hundred years later. Capcom wanted a darker, more grown up series on the Snes so this series begins with a scientist called Dr. Cane finding a capsule that contains x. X it turns out is the last of Dr. Lights creations, a robot that can think for itself and has the emotions and freee will of a human being, however due to the potential danger of this project, Light sealed X inside a capsule to run a 30 year diagnostic. What became of light,
auto, Dr. wily and everyone else from the classic series isnt clear, although weve had some interesting hints and of course lots of fans have theories (i have my own). Dr. Cane then starts creating reploids, robots with this new capacity to think to work alongside humans. This goes well until some reploids start turning maveric, ie, going insane and attempting to kill humans. A group of reploids is setup to counter this threat, called the maveric hunters lead by a reploid called sygma, who has blue eyes and wields a beam saber, (think light saber), with Zero as his second in command, a mysterious reploid who is Sygmas student. Sygma however then goes maveric, taking the rest of the maveric hunters with him, leaving x and zero to face the threat, despite the fact that x forswares violence and attempts a pacifistic attitude. The series then revolves around sygmas various plots, and revelations about the past of the characters. It is eventu
ally revealed in x2, that the maveric condition is the result of a computer virus, and that sigma himself has merged with this virus, and thus is able to create and possess new robot bodies at will. the bosses are mostly from the maveric hunters, though occasionally theyre reploids who rebel for their own reasons. theyre also very cool sinse rather than being junkman or fireman like the original series robot masters, theyre animalistic or even plants, such as storm eagle or split mushroom, which as you might imagine leads to some very unique characters to fight. In x4, during a war Sygma initiated between the reply force, a peace keeping force of reploids and the new maveric hunters lead by x, Zeros past is revealed, he was the last creation of Dr. Wily, and it was he who first transmitted the maveric virus to Sygma.Things then go a bit whacked, mostly because Zero should! have exited the series at the end of x5, or in x6 to turn up
in his own series, and because Capcom basically wanted more money, and because of the introduction of pathetic blond fairy link wonabe boy Axl, a reploid who can copy the abilities of other reploids (yeah, most mega man fans hate axl). the series finishes thus far I believe with x8, where sygma is finally defeated, and X command mission, which is all about copy chips and doesnt really run into the virus plotline, but its implied the sygma virus itself goes on, although for me due to access reasons and the fact that x7 went full 3d while (thanks capcom), the series can! end at x6 . The Zero series is my favourite in terms of plot and is set 102 years later, it began on the gba in the early 2000s with mega man zero (which I have very fond memories of). zero sealed himself in a capsule to spare the world from the virus (hes shown doing this in x6 alth
ough silly capcom say it doesnt happen in x6). he then awakes to find Nio arcadia, a fashistic society lead supposedly by x where reploids are treated as second class citizens. He has been awakened by ciel a human scientist and her band of resistance fighters. I love the zero games, I love how dark they are, your first mission in zero 1 is to literally go to an extermination camp and

This is a topic for discussion of the other game by Huw, aka Wastelander, Warsim. Unlike the Wastes, the game is a strategic war game where you build up your kingdom by hiering soldiers, peasants and knights, fight randomly generated other kingdoms including bandits, goblins and independent cities, make alliances, hier champions to fight in arena tournaments for you and explore the world. Ill be honest Ive been pplaying the wastes so much I havent investigated warsim that far other than to say it is %100 accessible, there is no ascii, just numbered menus and standard console window stuff. You can find the game Here on tinyupload (just click on the link that says warsim.exe to download), and for instructions there is This youtube tutorial on warsim Apparently the game isnt currently in development so th
is is the latest version, but there is a lot to play, albeit some aspects such as factional wars and some of the arena fights might make it into the wastes at a later time. So, enjoy!

Hay Wastelander, I had fun with the new build!A few questions;First, I agree that what happens could be placed first so we hear it first, but even so, Im still hoping well get some kind of stats screen before to long. Also, Ive noticed the game creates files in a settlements folder for each town you visit.Does this mean that you can find the same settlements in a different game if you keep the files?Hopefully, we can save soon.I can see how a fully dedicated game could take some time. And, not being able to save or load one is the main reason I havent really devoted serious time to a run yet. Also, the lock picking sound still plays when you choose a menu option. And, finally, Why can we play music?Odd, but, um, cool, I guess ? ?

Re: New Infinite Apocalpytic Procedural Ascii Game "The Wastes"

@Dark yeah I will work on having a settings.ini very soonAs for mutations perhaps I could add something making them not so harsh but I do enjoy the idea that a character can get fucked up by mutations because it adds a level of real danger and unforgivingness to the gamethe agent-x vials were designed to fuck you over at the start because by regular game standards black is bad and green is good, so people would go for the less dangerous looking colours and would soon learn they were bad but might later discover and work out which are good and badI think that if every bad thing that happens can eventually be cured or undone removes the seriousness of the bad thing in the first place, I like the idea of players genuinely being worried about negative mutations and as I have done in the past, having to deal with a character with serious illnesses, ie a character with skullrot trying to level up, it makes levelling up a really battle until you can get intelli
gence up enough, or similarly one of the injuries that takes hp down every turn.Maybe in the future I will add an easy mode with less harsh things in it, but for now I want the wastes to fuck you up if you arent careful@FireflyI can give the menu moving a shot but it will take a lot of work due to the way the game is made, I will have to manually add new code or alter existing code in every encounter and sub part of the game (no easy job)Day/night cycles are already in the plans, but you have the right idea, there will be harsher encounters at night@ThreeblacknoisesNope, you cant encounter the same town twice at the moment, I used to save all town files so you could remember where you had been but it was useless and after enough playthroughs you ended up with a huge folder full of hundreds of town files, in the future I might change the way it all works but town development is on standstill atm.I found the sound neutral en
ough to be both menu and lockpick to save on filespace, Ill change it soon when I bring out a new sound effects updateyou can play music because of a few things, firstly I wanted to see if it were possible for me to generate random little guitar songs (and it worked, and I was happy) so I added a few bard encounters to the game, then I added the ability for player to play guitar, (there is a chance you can find a dancing titan, if you play the right notes for the song of titans then he will leave you alone) this will be expanded in the future allowing you to busk in the townsAlso I am trying to add pitch changes so you can loot guitars with different pitches and find the one your prefer

Fall through the correct one, and it will warp you back to Room 1F, behind the locked door. Battle the grunt and use the lift. Also, Battling the grunt opens the door for easy access. Go to 4F. Theres a warp that will lead back to 3F, which has the stairs to Giovannis office.Does this sound like something that would be interesting or do you think I need a little more work on it?

ck, and if you discover the portal to hell you can invade but be warned, tournaments are also great, if you have enough money start them!hope you enjoy the game, once you get into it, It can be really fun!@mata mutations are weird, there is supposed to be a guide for them but my wiki guy is lazy, so I will break them down here for youTypes of mutationNegative - stuff that badly effects youPositive - stuff with good effectsmega - something that boosts you hugelyTypes of VialsGreen - 90% chance of negative 10% chance of positiveYellow - 50% chance of negative 10% chance of positiveRed - 10% chance of negative 90% chance of positivePurple - 100% chance of positiveBlack - 100% chance of megayou can get mutations a variety of ways, you can walk through acidic toxic puddles for a change to get a random mutation, you can find vials of agent-x randomly in the loot and you can find piles of them if you unlock
the special room inside lab dungeons.NEGATIVE MUTATIONS- Dementia (sets a few skills to 0)- Arm Tumor (halves your strength) (+2 mutant level)- Leg Tumor (halves agility) (+2 mutant level)- Rad Rash (-10 max hp) (+3 mutant level)- Slight deformity (+3 mutant level)- Blood Paralysis (Chance to freeze during combat) (+1 mutant level)- Confusion (agility and strength switch) (+1 mutant level)- Brain Damage (halves intelligence and doubles xp requirement)(+1 mutant level)- Severe Brain Damage (divides int by 3 and times xp req by 5)(+1 mutant level)- Skullrot - (-50xp per turn)(+3 mutant level)- Brainrot - (-10xp per turn) (+3 mutant level)- Toxic Burn (-10maxhp)(+3 mutant level)- Skinrot(-1maxhp per turn)(+3 mutant level)- Searing Skinrot(-5 max hp- per turn)(+3 mutant level)POSITIVE MUTATIONS- braingrowth (+5 xp per turn)- Lizard Tail (does three damage x player level)
(+5 mutant level)- Dragon Tail (does ten damage x player level) (requires lizard tail) (+5 mutant level)- Tri Pronged Dragon Tail (does 25 damage x player level) (requires dragon tail) (+5 mutant level)- Claws (increses melee damage) (+5 mutant level)- Fangs (fang level * 10 dmg)(+4 mutant level)MEGA MUTATIONS- Bloatbrain(+50 xp per turn)(+10 mutant level)- Braingrowth (+2 mutant level)- Extra leg(agility doubles)(+30 mutant level)- Super mutation (strength * 10) (+25 mutant level)- Regenerative blood(heals you for half damage whenever you take it in combat)(+1 mutant level)- Toughening(increases hp max by 1 each turn and is stackable ie you can get toughening twice for +2)(+1 mutant level)- Unaturally skilled(+1 perk per level)(+1 mutant level)MUTANT LEVELyou are probably wondering what this is, basically every time you mutate you may look a bit different, there are people
in the wastes who dont take kindly to mutants, at the moment the only reaction is from mutant hunters who once you are level five will hunt you down if you are mutated enough, they will hunt you even in no mans land so be careful. In the future you might find traders who wont trade with mutants, towns who wont let you in or even shoot you on sight and factions who might even have an anti mutant agenda, you may find towns that let you in but dont treat you well and charge you lots, however with all this hate comes newfound brotherhood from fellow mutants, mutant run towns will be very friendly as will mutant factions and npcs (for the most part)

@sightless combat, bare in mind accessible in the sense i mean it means that a blind person can do something with equivalent effort to a sighted person, not whether a thing is possible. So, if something requires sighted help ocr etc, then it is not accessible pure and simple. This isnt to say that you or anyone else shouldnt! use it if you like, thats a personal matter, only that in the definition of accessible games recommended by this site it isnt. Consider, there are blind people who quite successfully have learnt to play the original super mario brothers by trial and error, eg, hold right for so long, then press jump and hold for so long, then run right for so long. Theoretically, you could play a large percentage of games this way if you expended enough effort or indeed if you had a constant sighted assistant telling you to do what when. This doesnt mean mario is an accessible game though. A sight
ed person will still complete the game faar! more quickly and with far less memorization and over all effort expended than a blind person using this method. That is the deal with steam. Until it is equally possible for a blind person to use with the same effort as a sighted person, ie, all elements on pages are directly readable with a screen reader, there are no sections requiring sighted assistance or captchas etc, steam will remain inaccessible in the strict sense. Whether people have the patience to use it (or a ready sighted assistant), is up to them, however accusing someone of lacking patience is probably not helpful, after all would you tell a paraplegic person in a wheel chair oh that building doesnt need a ramp, just crawl up the stairs on your hands dragging your legs behind you, you just lack patience if the parapelegic stated that she/he didnt want to go to said building? methinks not. @Pelantas, so
unds good, though bare in mind what I said about judgement previously. what you had before was fine, but if a player is just hitting a button and waiting for a timer, that might not be such a good move gameplay wise sinse your lyable to lose their interest. This is why Drakor has combat with the chosen set of skills, while crafting is entirely walk away from the computer automatic.

Re: Epitaph Soundpack

it doesnt work properly anymore because the developpers changed the textstrings. i myself have no problem with the soundpack at all. May be because im use to the spam in mush.@wp, this mud is a (not so) horror apocalyptic zombie survival mud. You play as a character who tries to survive the world full of many kinds of living dead. Its still in development though, but its very cool so far.Im waiting for some new sets of profession to come out. If it comes, Ill start playing again. Anyone can leave the idea about making it more accessible in either this topic or the news regarding epitaph topic I made not so long ago. I submit ideas to the developpers from time to time.

I just got threw rreading this topic. Interesting. As for the ship building, what is in place to keep me from building the best ship out there with everything on it? Think, best shields, best weapons, best charge, best cargo halling, and best speed. Also, maybe thirty room ships... I am thinking about setting up an account in the next few days, but a thought in the back most reaches of my mind is the thought that this mud can not last... Anyway, we shall see...

Re: Audio Interfaces and Systems

http://sik.titandemo.de/.junk/old_sol_sounds.zipOut of those the only one that survived was yupee.ogg. Most were made with a Mega Drive (serious). Also do note that those are less than 44KHz (some 22KHz, most 11KHz) and rely on the sound engines upsampling (which does not do interpolation, giving a less muddly sound).Mind you, people also complain about Project MDs sound effects...

I hope you will return for developing some day.Maybe someone can answer me a question. There is something i dont understand. I am starting in easymode and it tells me i got 5000 gold. But the later text tells me i got 0 gold. Where is my mney? HAHA. I know i have to pay my soldiers and so on. But do the 5000 of gold disapear so simply in one turn?Oh my gosh i would love to have such a game in space with some nice audioenviroment! Huuuh, thiiis would be great! OK, i am dreaming!Glad you like it firefly, if you check your reports at the end of each turn you will see where t
he money is going but its usually one of the bandit groups, I would recommend going into diplomacy with the main bandits and asking for truce (they always agree) and then constantly pummeling the smaller groups or hiring mercenaries if you can until they are destroyedAlso forgive outlaws in the laws menu and you will find bandits come to join your cause, they will raid other nations for you and give you the gold they steal

Re: considering selling our audiogames via steam

@darkWhen I made that point about a lack of patience, I was merely referring to the quick dismissals the majority of people here appear to give Steam as a platform. Additionally, I pulled you up on your wording simply because you had not explained your now clarified meaning on accessibility.I appreciate the angle youre taking this from now and see why you think steam is inaccessible and I agree with you that Steam should be made accessible to make the playing field more open and equal relatively speaking. However, regardless of how much hope I have for the idea, Valve being Valve I doubt itll happen until new more diversity-centric management come into force.@daigoniteI disagree with your point on Steam being inaccessible just because blind people dont use it for two reasons. One of these is that blind people, myself included, do use it and the second is my subjective point that its not the communitys fault
but Valve as developers and publishers of the platform. They should be the ones to introduce these changes and hopefully if the appropriate laws etc are passed/worked through in certain areas, that shouldnt be a long time coming. But we can keep up hope regardless of what happens.Hope Ive made myself clear on all points that I did not intend to offend anyone with the above statements and my previous post in this discussion.

Hello,@key: if you downloaded through firefox, try redownloading it. The file will be blocked again, but this time, right click it in your download list, as soon as its done. Browse the context menu, and there should now be an unblock option a little way down.

Greetings all. As a discussion has come up recently, and upon thinking back, the wipe was rather unrequired, as the player who suggested it and kept complaining about not being able to earn credits despite ampple ways too has agreed too, I will begin restoring our older players ranks and credits. I dont have any recent backups of the game world, but its a start.
