[ a-t ] mr.brunete yes we made it. thank you![ a-t ] lukasgreat insight into the whole screen reader thing. i too would hope that someday the support would be more universal. there are some awkward workarounds that wouldn't be needed if you could just freely roam the screen.but I think the question was also about using the voice you've been customizing for a long time and if they hook into the same system voice database, maybe I can access them ingame. My problem with those ports is that getting things to work with the latest git revisions, which add the binaural beat creation and the accessibility for a game called threes, takes a load of steps to complete. We need an active maintainer for this, and someone that can work on the speech server. Neither of those ports to Windows are ideal, as they've been abandoned.

Well, I figured out what my issue is and why I've gotten black boxes four times lol.Unfortunately, the transponder key of alt-T conflicts with the VoiceOver script for telling the time. Is there a way to turn that off while in a VM for the purposes of being able to hit alt-T?

Hello,I like both platforms. Android is incredibly customizable and flexible. I wish I could say the same for iOS. I like iOS mainly because of VO. Still, the fact that I can't do something so simple as download any type of file using Safari is incredibly frustrating. If I go to a page in Chrome or Firefox on my Android device, I am able to download any file I desire and it goes into my internal storage. Android's openness and flexibility also means that I can keep my old Nexus 7 updated despite the fact that Google has stopped supporting it with updates. It will be a sad day when my iPhone 5s no longer receives updates from Apple. That device will eventually be rendered obsolete because no one can provide custom firmware to update it.

I've tested a tileset engine implementation with free-roaming sprites not strictly bound to tiles using circular collision detection, with each tile representing a 16 by 16 area. When a sprite walks into a tile it would register itself in a list at that particular grid point, other sprites in that sector would do the same. Each cycle, each individual sprite would then do a collision check only for those sprites in their immediate sectors to see if their two circle boundaries collided, so as to prevent having to comb through the entire sprite list for each and every sprite doing collision checks. So what you could do is have a collision grid represent an X by Y area, and then place your sprites over top, registering them in the various sectors they occupy. Each turn you'd check if their sector occupies the same space with another object and then do a collision check for them.

The speech servers are like addons, synth drivers for Emacspeak. Emacspeak supports both hardware and software synthesizers.

Hi guys,  So S Quad Racing as I've said before, is going to be different in this version, in that driving speeds are now a lot more realistic, and of course, there is the full 360 degree rotation for driving.  I would like to know what would help you guys in navigating this type of system? Here is what I have so far:Already implemented, beacons like you have in swamp. You turn towards these and they lead you to a certain point. Race courses will have these so you know what direction you should be heading in order to complete the race. Yes, this does make races sound like a "Turn where I say and you'll be just fine" type of thing, but remember that turning directly to a beacon is really hard at high speeds, and there is other factors to deal with when racing.That idea is not just talk, I've already added it.The second one is just an idea: for when you're not racing or tracking a beacon, you can also use direction
  beacons. I would activate north, J would activate west, K for south, and L for east. Basically, this would play a continuous sound at the desired direction so you could turn towards the beep, and deactivate it at any time by pressing that key again.  Would these help you guys in an open world type of driving system? Do you have any other suggestions that might be helpful? I will consider it if it isn't something that takes the challenge out of the game, because of all things I want this driving system to be something you don't just pick up and master right away, but the reason I was going to add those beacons is so you have an idea where you're going, because you obviously can't see the map around you.

My school had a Blazie embosser that could do it, there was a lever that let you basically flip over the head of the embosser to one with more dots per square inch. You could just go from ms paint to print and it would handle it. That was ages and ages ago, now there is probably better ways and I know there are now embossers dedicated to the production of tactile graphics, just where to obtain it from? that is the question. I unfortunately do not have the answer.

I didn't get any problems unregistering DLLs when I uninstalled it, but I did have to go around and clean up after it. It was rather hit and miss whether the uninstaller removed stuff or not. Some things I expected not to be removed by the installer because it didn't create them, they were made by the program itself, but there were plenty of things the installer should have removed but didn't.

I agree, there is a problem with turning.It is a bit trouble if i want to position any obiect in the center of my heatphones, this turning system is lustrating when there is alot of monster.You should fix this turning system and also you should add a beep, when you are ready to shoot, this option should have a possibility to turn it on and off.

I agree, if use a captcha, then provide an audio or another accessible alternative such as Recaptcha. A lot of modern websites are already doing that using at least two or three different API's from different vendors as far as I know.And I also agree in that I'm using Windows Defender, MRT and Windows Firewall just to feel I do have some security software running, but I generally just try to avoid suspicious e-mails and websites and haven't noticed any unwanted behavior or damage yet. :-)Lukas

You could probably make some use of the opensource papaengine.com, but if I get that correctly, this engine just handles the positioning of your sounds. You still have to create the game world yourself and link the sound sources in that world to this engine somehow.Lukas

Congratulations forever! :-) I'll be looking forward to the final game so much.At the previous, relatively old post by Eternal Gamer, yes, I'm afraid your definition of an accessible app *is* in deed a bit too super strict. Screen readers were not designed to support games. This game, like many other modern mainstream ones, is made in Unity, which doesn't compose its GUI's using the standard graphics API's and controls provided by the system but rather through custom sprites that you as the developer later fill with any textures of your choice, if I understand it correctly, and there really is no way to make the current screen readers able to support that setup, so I see it as a minor miracle that an Unity dev implemented at least Sapi support, and, most importantly and above all, was motivated enough to do that in the first
  place. Just look at the screen reader support problems many devs face even when creating audiogames as such. If someone wants to make their game output text directly through a popular screen reader, they will usually come across one or another programmatic issue regarding the obsolete and relatively unfriendly, closed setup of thescreen readers sooner or later. Let's face it, even though screen readers should be providing us with access to as much information and as many different kinds of GUI controls and applications as possible, the amount of information they expose through their own API's, and especially the ways in which you can control that provided information, is pretty limited, so much that it's not sufficient at all for a third party app to be able to hook into the screen reader efficiently. And, last but not least, games just inflict new controls, concepts and paradigms at you as the player in general anyways, so I don't see any problems with that mys
 elf.I mean, as an end user, I would tend to agree with you wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, though, we are not yet living in an ideal world and the amounts and complexity of the technical obstacles currently preventing such an ideal universal access support solution is still too large. However, I see other areas where this problem matters much more than with games, since as I said, games do expect you to learn new controls and ways of thinking anyway, so what.Just my thoughts. I was told by someone who does addon work in NVDA that the way that NVDA does cursor tracking uses a timer and it screws up in that over SSH. I have had the same kind of issues. An alternate method is to use sftp to pull the file down, make the edits, push it back up and then move it back where it should go.

Does anyone know of somewhere that one can order custom tactile graphics? I know there is software out there that allows you to create a graphic, or perhaps even import an existing graphic, and then print it using a braille embosser so that the lines of the image are raised. Does anyone know of a resource where someone could provide an existing image and acquire tactile prints of said image? Nobody I know who has a braille embosser has the software in question...

Hi,I recently got back into TB again and found that Allen Tompson, the creator of the fantastic age of warlords and starship battles packs among others, has done it again.Not only does this pack have some wonderful music and sounds, but playing as the giant monsters, as I've not yet played as a robot really  made me feel like I was in a Godzilla movie what with blowing up buildings, vehicles and battleships while the military tried to stop my rampage.  As this has such a large variety of units to control as well as a large degree of customisation with upgrades, I'm wondering what others think of this pack.If anyone wants to download it, the link is:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/680 … %202.0.zip

I was considering adding a "how do I get to XXX" function. StarSquad really kind of needs a "where's the nearest enemy base". The thing is that it can change depending on your ship's capabilities and the tide.I actually wrote a mapping tool that I can use as admin. But, frankly, it isn't much use. If people had it, they would skew things based on where they 'saw' visual borders. I prefer to see the borders established based on real connectivity rather than nicely drawn lines in the sand.

What about your sound pack.You know its good you have come clean about this, you have dropped off and on for so many times I think people don't know what to think.Danny of realitysoftware decided to drop off due to the same reasons, he is back now but he is not rushing into things.When I started after university, I decided to just start programming but quickly realised that being a tester, sound tech and voice actor as well as doing all the pr stuff round the games was the best for me.I get enjoyment in helping but I'd never actually program things.I don't have the motivation either.Also what will you do with the legacy stuff.I guess with some stuff you could port it to the games archive so people could get everything if the things ever went down.Of importence though since you are having 2dp is to try if possible to still have a server for the game and its maps so we can still get those if we need them.Ther

Has anyone managed to tune to correct frequencies? It feels weird not hearing the radio. F I guess tells me the frequency I'm currently tuned to, but how do I find the correct one and tune to it?I've figured out that the first menu option is "About Eurofly", and I'm not sure if it tells you about the game or the company you work for to provide some perspective.After that I guess it is tasks/missions. Pressing enter on this immediately throws you into the first mission.The third option is free flight where you can fly anywhere, but the fourth menu option is important for selecting that, which is the map. Reading the documentation translated with Google Translate, gTranslate translates it to "Manual View", which I'm not sure is entirely correct.Without selecting a location on the map first, my observations tell me that the default location is some airport in Aphrica for Free Flight mode.When you start mission mode

Since it just throws you in expecting you to know what to do, how do you get your current objective/objectives?I may have gotten the two menu options mixed up, as the second menu option just selects a plain for you; the third option allows you to choose your plain. @Dark the thing is, he will most likely have that issue his whole life, anyone with a disability needs to know how to work through their issues. When I was 13, I moved in with my dad after having fights with my mom and stuff for 2 years for trying to restrict me due to my vision. He taught me to cook, do laundry and insisted that I do these things for myself. I'm glad he did because when I moved up to college, even those sighted people could barely cook, didn't know how to use the washing machines / dryers, etc. You need to do all you can to be independent, and only if you have tried and exhausted all resources you have should you ask for help. There is no shame in asking for help, but you will have no self confidence if you ask for help all the time. You will feel the shame in it even if there is no shame to be felt. But, if you do all you can to work things out for yourself, and seldom need to ask for help, when you do, there is no shame to be felt and you will say wel
 l, OK I did have to ask for help with this, but look at all this other stuff I can do for myself.That kid with the stutter needed to learn that he can't control his speech impediment and that he just needs to go through his life without letting it vastly affect him. If he could stop stuttering, he would have done it, he didn't like the fact that he stuttered, and he would want to correct the problem, so that tells me it is beyond his control. But, that doesn't excuse the fact that he had a life  to live and that speaking is p part of that process. By refusing to order his food for him, I was attempting to teach him to minimize the shame or guilt or whatever else he was feeling due to his speech impediment. He could not fix it, he could only live with it.As for if I drop something, and have a sighted person tell me to find it myself, well I'd probably slug them for being an ass, then buy them a drink for understanding that I want to be treated l

Thank to the contributors.The main changes are:- A team mode, the score of a team is the total of the members' scores.- A basic chat: when the server is waiting before a party, you can press f2, write a message and send it with the enter key. You can't pay the internet bills anyway.I'd  be more than happy to pay  for redspot provided we get more updates and I would even do it at it's current state honestly ... although I will admit I want to see ore features, more balancing with items and an actual map but primarily I'd pay for a cheater free Redspot.I suppose this just goes to show some of us value money differently than others.  Time vs money payed?  Sure.  I’ll go for that.  But, considering the quality of the game, to me, it’s not worth paying for – I don’t consider a half hour now and again worth investing my time.  I’d rather save the money for something that truly matters to me – something that will impact my life or is necessary.  An hour or two a week for something that is highly unbalanced in it’s current state is not worth that investment.Could I afford it?  Sure.  Will I pay for it/  Not until it gets either an overhall of the existing features, or something that just sounds too freeking awesome to miss out on.  As of now, Redspot, although enjoyable, has none of those things.  If it helps, I probably wouldn’t buy Call of Duty or any of the mainstream first-person shooters, either.But, since we’re talking about time of enjoyment, let me break something down for you:Tuesday nights, I can go to the movies for $5.  I can get dinner for another $10.  If I go with someone else, and pay for it, the cost doubles.  Let’s call it $40 for the evening.  Not only do I get, if the film and food are good, a satisfying two hours, I get a conversation about what we liked/disliked about the film – call it another hour – and another few minutes raving over the dinner.  I get a good ride, as it were.  If the film is truly good, I get my emotions going – sympathizing for the characters, laughing at them, sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for them to get killed in a back alley or catch the bad guy, whatever the thrill is..  That, to me, is more valuble than getting on and button mashing, putting up with the stupid chat comments (if I don’t just turn it off), putting up with the extremely lame death messages (not my cup of tea, sorry Sam), jumping out of the way of a few grenades, and once I get good at that, being able to do it in my sleep.  What I’m saying is, although the cost of redspot is cheap enough and very reasonable, I don’t feel that it justifies it due to the entertainment.  The movie, however, is different each individual time, the food (if I don’t stick to the same things), are all different, the conversations are all different, and that makes it worth it.If I was to go on the cheap, I’d rent a movie from iTunes for 5 bucks, cutting off the other half of the ticket, buy my own soda (I can get a two leter for 2 bucks), my own popcorn (4 bucks for a pack of four, or six for a bag of curnals), make dinner myself (depending on the dinner, let’s call it $10 for two.  Yes, I can manage to make a good quality meal for that cheap), and the time extends – I get to make it myself (something I enjoy doing), and that extends to a full evening.  Plus, I don’t have to put up with assholes texting or munching popcorn or those uncomfortable chairs.Let’s even go with a simpler example: audible is $22 a month and I can get anywhere from 10-50 plus hours of entertainment from that.  If ew’re talking about time vs money in terms of enjoyment, Redspot, and most audiogames, aren’t on the radar for me.If Redspot caused me to have to think, strategise, and the game was different each time I played, I would obviously reconsider.  Once I get bored of something, that money is now less enjoyable.There can be something said for a terrible book or movie, too, but we all have to cut our losses sometimes.I’m not saying “Screw that Redspot isn’t worth paying for,” because, to some, it obviously is.  Look at this thread as proof of that.  To me, however, it’s not in it’s current form.

Looking for a capable BGT Developer to take over some projects

Hi guys,So in my last topic, I was announcing that DarkFlier Productions was being closed down. As many of you know, I had some cool projects that were in the works. A couple of those (CrimeHunter, DarkRacing, DarkWords, etc) were never really finished, and I just don't have the motivation to finish them anymore. I'm looking for a capable BGT developer to take these over.What you need to know:BGtOr another programming language if you wish to rewrite them.Thanks!

Hey people,So, Small update/clarification to my closure: Yes, DarkFlier Productions are closing, but no, this doesn't mean I'll quit developing stuff. Mainly, the closure is just to drop me out into the background. I don't want a company, I don't want a server, etc, if this makes any sense to anyone. I don't know the best way to explain things here. Let's take it back to before the summer of 2013. I'd just drop off little thingies I'd been working on to the forum or twitter. I didn't have a server, I didn't have anything spesh like a website or anything.
