Revenge of the Jedi mud: some new and awesome changes

I've been playing muds for years, and I always come back to this classic. There have been some cool new changes that make the experience a lot more fun, in my opinion.Firstly, there are no more player corpses! All those times I left this mud were ragequits after losing my hard-earned equipment because of some mob sucker punching me, or a deathtrap. To be fare, deathtraps still exist, but you only lose a small percentage of your equipment now instead of everything.Exp to level has been decreased, and now zones give much more exp than they usually would. If you create a standard character, you get a unique personal item for every 5 times you level.Rent is still a thing, but you can just type quit and rent from anywhere if you want too, and rent is now based off of a percentage of your credits instead of some crazy outlandish rate. Not sure exactly how the whole thing works, I just know that I have had no problem quitting for days at a time, and I have a ton of powerful items.There are probably a lot more changes that I'm missing, but if you've been away for a little while, come check it out! Has anyone tried ps2 emmulation on this thing? I have, and it's awsome and not at the same time. While games usually slow down and stutter to the point of being unplayable, it reads text flawlessly. Also, it doesn't seem to have any input lag, which I can really feel when using pcx2 even though it's slight.

So I have a few random questions. Anyone know the point of the teleporter in ascendance path? The one in the room next to the swamp area, it just seems to warp me forward into the entrance that I'm already next too. Also, just leveled up a kangachan by beating the post-game bosses a few times because I saw one use a move called family duo on me, and thought that's pretty bad ass! Only to find out that it's a standard type move that only does 65 dmg? What the hell, that's less than jumplets, which it learns earlier. It does hit twice though, so maybe there's more to it, was just wondering if anyone else who leveled one thought that was odd?

I'm loving the game so far! I've decided to take things slow and learn as much as i can about the various manamon and such, instead of just jetting through the main story like I did playing Manamon 1. Also, minor spoilers ahead... I guess,random thought but I really like the music hall, it's just a lot of fun to me haha. Nice to be able to take a break from grinding levels and do something else unique. And the game console, cool stuff.

I think I might give this one a go. After hearing some gameplay and learning about the characters, it seems like it'd be a good time. I'm wondering though, about defense? I hear it's very important in this game. Not to say it isn't in other fighting games, but from what I understand in this one it has increased importance. So I'm just wondering how well a blind player can do with blocking and such? I watched a video of someone playing through the tutorial, and it sounded like some of the heavier attacks could be reacted too.

I've been on the ropes about buying this one for a good while now, because the gear and stats system really turn me off from it. That being said though, I think I'd have fun with the story mode and such, and the fighting mechanics are great. I read somewhere about a competitive mode that disables the gear system entirely, and I was wondering if that can be turned on for all modes? I don't do much online play, I'd mainly do arcade mode, or whatever it's called in this game, and local vs mode occasionally.

There are gyms that you can challenge, and trainer battles happen randomly if I'm remembering correctly. I think there are settings so that you can adjust what you're hunting for, whether you want trainer battles included, etc. and as far as how many pokemon are in the game, I'm not sure about that one, but I know it had up to generations I'm not familiar with, but I'm only knowledgeable about the first 4. Also, pokemon level up and learn moves similar to the mainstream games, and you can asign moves as well.

I've actually played this one, and it was better than I thought it would be. I honestly didn't put much effort into the writing that's required, and my char still got approved. I found the whole fusion concept wierd and did my best to ignore it, but it's not intrusive and the game has intertaining battle and capture systems if you can get used to all the commands. The towns are described pretty nicely as well when you're traveling from place to place. This one could be amazing if a soundpack were to be created, in my oppinion, but I don't have the time to try and make one.

Usually testyourmight.com is my go-to place for combos. But you can also probably find some youtube vids that could show you some, and hopefully they'll have the inputs in the description. Also, if you can't find anything useful in the description, sometimes people will discuss the combos in the comments section and you can figure out what's happening from there. I usually find a channel that tends to have good vid descriptions and latch on to it.

So despite there being no noteworthy changes to the mud in... well as long as I can remember, I still like to drop in this one and do missions with people, chat and whatnot. Anyone else currently playing? If so feel free to share your names, mine is Matteo Hayes.  maybe we can all meet up and do some missions, or do something fun like that haha. Honestly, pretty much nothing else besides the group combat missions interests me at all on this mud, but they're fun enough to keep me around if there's a good bunch of pilots.

I'm also having problems making those jumps in Griff, but I do get across sometimes! heh Maybe it's just a matter of getting the hang of it which would be totally fine imo.Breakerbox does have some awsom games  and cool ideas if I'm includeing the games that were talked about but never released, and I am very happy we're hearing from them again. I never could figure out how to find the devel jin style in the create a char menu, which is really a shame! And now that my third ps3 has burned out on me, it seems I'll never get to test it out, but from youtube vids I've seen it looks awsom. Pretty sure they even included his 10string.

Interesting, I always did think Soul Calibur was the first fighting game to do that. You learn something new every day haha.Anyway,  I think articles and videos mention guest chars right now and will continue to do so because we're talking about soul calibur, and everyone talks about guest characters when discussing soul calibur these days, seems that way to me at least. I would also think that guest chars bring people to the series, so they'd want to keep that topic alive. But yeah, definitely nothing newsworthy yet, just a bunch of top 10 lists and people saying which guests should absolutely be included in the game for various reasons.

Almost every article or video I've read or watched on the game mentions guest characters in some way, so yeah I'd call that hype lol. Or maybe it's not hype, maybe it's just normal to talk about guest characters when discussing SC, because everyone knows that they're going to be in the game. I was actually under the impression that the Soul Calibur series started the trend of including guest characters in fighting games, or at least made it hugely popular to do so, but I could be wrong about that. I figured I'd bring up guest characters, because that's usually what I see people discussing with the most enthusiasm when talking about Soul Calibur, which could very well be a coincidence. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, the fact that Link was in the gamecube version of SC2 is what got me into the series in the first place.What I am most excited about with 6 however is the game being a reboot, because no one will be killed off which means no limets as to which characters can be in the game. Also, I'm betting that the story mode will be improved.

@assault Hey I'm with you man, but sadly the hype is real for the guest chars big time! lol You know how it is, especially with a game like SC known for kinda awsom guest chars all things considered, but yeah you'd think that knowing the base roster would take priority. As for me, I'd like for Yun-seong to be included, as I had a lot of fun using him in SC4. They've also hinted that Kilik will be returning to his original fighting style, so that'll be nice if it happens.

I never even bothered with weapon combat in mk4 unless it was spamming liu Kang's quick sword swings by pressing 1 lol. Worked like a charm against goro like 40% of the time. Of course I was just a kid when I last  played that game, so maybe I'd do things differently now and give it more of a chance.Anyway, that's off topic, soul calibur 6! Let's talk about it some more haha. I've heard that the game speed is going to be most similar to SC2, which is good IMO as I think SC2 was the best game in the series. A lot of people speak highly of SC3, but believe it or not I never even gave that game 20 minuts of my time for whatever reason. Who would you all like to see as guest characters in 6? Maybe a KI char for the xbox 1 port, that'd be pretty cool.

For anyone who doesn't know that may be on the ropes about purchasing injustice 2, there's a free trial going on right now for xbox 1 and ps4 that lets you play the first 3 chapters of story mode. It also gives you access to the entire base roster of chars to try out in various modes. Also, the game is supposed to be 50% off right now if you actually want to buy it, but I haven't checked on that so be sure to look before clicking the button heh.

So I've heard that there will be a guard feature called reversal edge that protects against almost any high mid or low attacks with the press of only 1 button. Not sure if this is some sort of meeter-spasific maneuver or what, but it sounds like an interesting concept. And apparently when you let go of the button your char will retaliate. Can't wait to learn more about these new features. Also critical edge is coming back, but it'll only take a 1 button press this time similar to tekken's rage moves.

Oh I do sidestep sometimes, but usually my strikes don't connect after doing so which conditions me to sidestep less, and as a result I spend a majority of my time being juggled. I do get lucky every now and then though, depending on the char.Blocking is just a guessing game for me in tekken, and well in most fighting games if not all of them lol. Sometimes it works and sometimes fails outright, but that's to be expected. In an actual match you're not going to be able to block every strike, but you know blocking a few more of them probably wouldn't hurt heh, or I guess you could say I'd hurt less.Anticipating is one thing I have been able to do much more consistently in the newer tekken games, 7 especially. I find certain character's strings much easier to predict and react to accordingly than others, however, but that's normal I think. Take the new char Claudio for example, for some reason his strings are very easy to spot for me, and I am able to duck or block low at the appropriate times. It was a wakeup call after fighting him in story mode though, as that AI seemed to be even more predictable than usual, and I don't mean the actions he always does at the start or middle of the fight either.

I actually need to sit down and play through the last bit of story to reach that final fight. I'll have to step it up now to see if the track really is halfway decent lol. But yeah, I find myself getting caught in juggles very often these days. I'm thinking I need to incorporate more sidestep in my game or something, but defense never has been my strong point and probably never will be. I've always wished the gameplay was in stario, though it's not necissary.

So I'm not a pro or anything, but I've been playing tekken for a good while, and it seems that juggle combos have just completely taken over. It's to the point that I'm not enjoying picking up new chars and learning them anymore, because it all just feels the same. Launch the guy with d/f+1 2, then follow up with some more 2 hitters to dribble him like a basketball. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I know that these sort of combos were done in earlier tekken games, but I don't feel like they were so common. Anyone else noticing this? Also, the music isn't even almost as good as it used to be. After tekken 5, literally no tracks stand out in my head lol.

You know, I second what some have said here. I never thought about how silly combat really is in those space games. A giant battlecruiser shouldn't be nearly as maneuverable as a fighter, yet they bounce around just like any smaller ship would! That's something. I do hope they come up with a better system for cosmic. I actually haven't played since the ground combat was changed so should probably do that to see what's new there. Stun rifles anyone? lol

I've never had any kind of success to speak of using OCR with the xbox ap, but the whole experience is pretty unstable in the first place because of my internet I think. I have used seing AI and managed to pick out a few words on the screen though. I do know for a fact that OCR can work with the xbox ap, however, because it's very clearly demonstrated in the UFC thread.

I mean I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty hyped about it! I think they're gonna be a blast to play, and I've always loved the ninja turtles. Could they have chosen one of the many available DC chars over them? Yes they could have, but they didn't, so we got what we got. And come on, the ninja turtles fighting Batman? No one can say that's not at least a little bit cool. I do wonder if there will be more dlc chars in the future though.

Combos in the injustice games usually involve nocking the aponent up into the air with some sort of string that incorporates a launcher, then following up with a combination of strings, special moves, and dashes. There are exceptions, however, because some special moves leave the enemy stunned without nocking them into the air allowing you to follow up. Another thing I should mention is that basic strings and special moves are easily linked together, and that's where a lot of good combos will come from. I've never had any problems doing huge combos in NRS games, as I find it very easy to tell not only where I am on the screen, but if I've managed to get my aponent stunned or airboarn.

Thanks for all of the responses.@cj89I'm with you! I purchased a playstation vita for literally one reason and that's mk9 in my pocket. I dedicated so much time to learning that game, it'd be awsom if it'd work on xbox 1, though I'd have to get used to the feel of doing combos with that controller. Believe it or not, I purchased the game for pc as well lol, but there's a very slight lag that makes it unplayable for me. Lag is one of those things I just can not deal with, it drives me crazy.

Playable or partially playable but fun xbox 1 games?

So I was wondering if there were any games people were playing on the xbox 1 that I might not know about? I don't mind if a game isn't totally beatable or anything like that, as long as I can have fun and at least play it somewhat successfully. I know of mk, injustice, killer instinct, tekken, and UFC2. Anyone playing something that's not those? Oh and rock band, haven't gotten that one yet but I'm sure I'll have fun with it. I know I've listed a pretty decent number of games, but I get bored way too easily so the more the marrier really.

NRS should come up with a game purely bassed on guest characters. I think it could be fun if they got creative with the story and such, but I guess they might run into some problems with  Licencing and whatnot that'd make it difficult. I always liked messing around with Mugen,  which pretty much let's you create your own fighting game with chars from videogames and beyond, because come on! Liu kang vs super Mario? It's fun.

I am also waiting until the ultimate edition releases. It's been easier waiting for this one, as I'm really not looking forward to dealing with that gear system. Hopefully I can just play the game and ignore it completely. As to the turtles as dlc, I agree with blindndangerous. Though I'm sure they'll be fun to play, there are way too many DC characters to choose from, and I think there's absolutely no need for another guest non-DC char. Honestly, I think having 2 mk chars was overkill as well, but there are some who will fight me tooth and nail on that issue heh.

Oh not at all! It's a very good point, as hear and react style gameplay wouldn't be much fun. However, the parade will weather the storm I think, as I'm still very excited to see what happens with this game and the new awsom effort that's being put into accessibility by this company. Also, I think that some of what isn't translatable into audio may be translatable in other ways, because as we've seen the amount of information we can gain already through vibration is impressive to say the least, and surely the good ideas won't stop at vibration. Of course I'm not expecting anything completely 100 percent accessible in every way, because I am aware that sight is a very complex thing, but I am expecting something groundbreaking givin the right amount of time and with the right minds working at it.

Yeah, I figured it might be a little iffy. I've never had an easy time with the guitars in previous rock band games, but I think I'll still pick it up though for something different to play, because I'm getting a little burned out on fighting games as cool as they are. I am curious about the store though, as I thought I saw someone mention that they could buy new songs from the xbox website, but I looked and don't see anything that mentions rock band 4.

I know it can be done from within the game, but is that accessible at all? Also, I'm guessing the setup process for the guitar is doable without sighted assistance, as people around here seem to have done it.

A Mira player huh? Vampires vs werewolves, who comes out on top I wonder! haha Killgore's a fun char to play. He's a robot with big guns and mistles, what's not to like? lol I've never really focused very heavily on ranged combat in fighting games, but Killgore makes me want to give it a shot. I think I'm gonna have to turn the music down a bit though, because as awsom as it is I can't hear the other guy moving around very well, and that's pretty important for ranged tactics I would think.

Sorry for the double post, but I just had to say that I'm having so much fun watching combo assist perform combos, then turning it off and figuring out how to link them manually! It's adicting lol. Ditched Jago for Sabrewolf for the moment, as I'm really liking his rushdown, it's just brootle, and the howls are vicious.

[[wow]], thanks for all of the great information! I'm trying out some other characters now, and I'm starting to notice the differences between them. Some are better at ranged combat, some switch sides more often than others, etc. I see that it's so much deeper than spamming a button and watching your guy kick ass which is a relief, , but it doesn't have to be if you don't want it to be, so that's nice. My defense is pretty terrible, but I'm noticing that some chars have very destinctive sounds for some of there specials, so atempting to learn blocking is going to be interesting I think. I'm assuming there's a way to make the comp attack in training mode yeah? Also, I'm brand new to xbox 1, so looking forward to learning how to stream gameplay, and adding friends and such.

Update:After messing around a little bit and doing some reading, I now understand much more about the combo system, and the combo assist feature. Still got tons to learn though I'm sure. I'd like to know which enders it's using sometimes, so if I wanted to turn the assist feature off for whatever reason I'd know what to practice with, but that'll come in time maybe lol.Just picked up this game because of the many interesting characters, and I have a few questions that have probably already been answered somewhere around here but oh well heh. Just picked up this game because of the many interesting characters, and I have a few questions that have probably already been answered somewhere around here but oh well heh. So you can use the walk through walls cheat to literally take 7 or 8  steps and be in the next town! However, if you're the honorable type who would never dare use cheats like that, or if you just enjoy the challenge of the navigation puzzles, I remember using a game faqs walkthrough to help me get through it the first time around. Don't have the exact link though, sorry I can't be of more help

Using nvda's OCR feature to recognise streamed text from xbox?

So I figured I'd post a new topic about this rather than spam up the UFC one with these questions. I've been able to get the xbox to stream just fine, but when I try to review the screen in the ap window with nvda I get nothing recognisable what soever. I'm just using nvda plus R, but I'm wondering if I have to mess around with the object navigation or something? I've taken a look at nvda's user guide, but nothing I try seems to make anything noteworthy  happen lol so any advice would be appreciated.

Loving this mud so far, but holy god blacksmithing is grindy! I'm finally able to produce some average and above quality crafts every now and again, but even though my skill lvl is around 250 I still get the good ol malformed lumps sometimes. At least finding practice materials is easy enough, and I have learned some smelting techniques that have made me a lot wealthier I have to say. Honestly though, the thought of grinding it out and actually becoming decent at every type of forging makes me cringe a little bit.

It really is so much better now with the new server. I'm enjoying myself a ton playing. As to making money, I always start a new char off atempting to do tasks if they join a guild, asuming I found a decent weapon in the crate usually in the town square. If not that, then  foraging out in the forest, and once I've saved up a little over 400 riln more or less, I buy an axe and borrow a handcart to do some logging. But that's just me, there are a lot of ways to earn riln.

So, I want to join a guild that's pretty secretive but not as much as some, and I'm not sure how! I mean it's not supposed to be strait forwarde, I know that, but I've gotten thrown in jail like 50 times doing what I'm sure the guild will require me to do, and I don't know how I'm supposed to roleplay and draw attention without making a total ass of myself. Maybe that's what it'll take, which is fine, I've never really played a hated char before, but I'm wondering if anyone firstly knows what I'm talking about and secondly could give me some pointers? If I'm not supposed to talk about this kind of thing out of game, oh well, I'm talking about it, that's what's happening right now sadly.

I wish they'd add some sort of physical description feature to the pokedex. That'd be pretty awsom, they could coppy them from bulbapedia and give credit, muds do it all the time.

So for anyone playing who may not know, I just learned a very useful command. It's +tier, that's tier with a plus sign in front of it, and it'll change the lvl of pokemon and trainers you fight. Just thought I might mention it, as fighting lvl five to twelve pokemon got old for me after while, and I thought the levels would be area-spasific as they are in the games but they weren't. It's probably mentioned somewhere on the game's wiki, but whatever heh.

I haven't had too yet, but I haven't made it as far as the leader. I've only beaten a couple of the trainers you fight beforehand, so you might have to rp when you get there, I don't know. But yeah, writing an application is always a pain, I just muscled my way through that part, and so far it's been worth it.

Try it! I had the same mindset, but honestly I haven't even interacted with the players at all, just been catching and training pokemon. The gyms are tough, and training really does make a difference, or it has so far at least. One thing about it though, the commands are kinda hard to get used too, but you can alias them in your client to make things easier.

anyone heard of pokemon fusion?

I've been playing this for a while, and it's fun! It's a muck, which I'd never usually consider but I figured it was pokemon themed so why not, and it's far better than I thought it'd be. It seems to have a fully coded battle and capture system, as well as breeding, gyms, and trainer battles/trades. Although roleplay is enforced and there are fusions between pokemon and trainers, I haven't messed around with any of that, I've just been battling wild pokemon and leveling up my starter. From what I've seen of the areas, the descriptions are nicely written, but like I said I haven't been playing for long at all so I don't know much about the game. Just thought I'd mention it and see if anyone here has given it a shot. I almost didn't, because of the enforced roleplay, but so far it's a lot of fun and I haven't been bothered with that. Just had to write a description and bio, but that was easy enough.

Yeah the footstep sounds don't work, and that did anoy me at first, but you can use the camera to hear the type of terrain that's around you. Very useful when trying to find patches of grass and such. Also, as mentioned in the first post, some of the maps aren't named properly, but you can use the poke gear's map to see where you are, and use commands in the scrypt to rename rooms and objects if you want.

No, just use lunar ips to patch a clean coppy of the rom and you're good to go, unless you want to set up the advanced AI. Not sure how that works because I didn't mess around with it, but you don't need it to enjoy the game.

Yeah, this hack is amazing. There's so much to do, and it challenges you much more than the original game. Wish there was a way to battle and trade online, I don't think I'd ever do anything else for a while haha.
