Re: An all new media player from Nathan Tech I'm a fan of foobar personally, but there is one feature that it doesn't have that I'd love to see in a media player. I'd like to be able to choose a folder, but instead of having it load all the files from the folder into memory and playing just those files, I'd like to see a media player that can stream the contents of the folder. This would be useful in situations where I just added a new file, but I don't want to reload the folder, stopping whatever file might be playing in the process. Also, while a file is playing, it can load another one into memory and cue it for playback so that there's no wait time between files. Is there a media player like this, or could you make it part of this one? One or two people who were called out in that document are good friends of mine, and they're high-standing people as well. Did I react harshly? I do know, however, that calling out names and accusing them of things is a form of character assassination, a conversation which I’m sure you remember from about three months ago. These people could be very nice, but others may not want to meat or interact with them now because they’ve heard things about them. This makes a person less likely to make any new friends because their reputation has been tarnished. That, my friend, is character assassination.A lot of these stereotypes you’ve pointed out are traits shown in a lot of sighted people. This is the general direction the world is headed in, and blind people are not mostly to blame for it. In fact, do you know how blind people got most of these quirks to begin with? By observing the actions of others online, especially sighted people. Want to hear someone blowing into their microphone or raging at everything under the son? Look up gaming videos on YouTube. Want to hear people starting and stopping relationships at least 15 times a year? Find a random teenager on Facebook and look at their posts. I could go on and on about the various stereotypes you pointed out being reminiscent of the behavior of the entire online world, but if I did I wouldn’t be able to finish the list even by next year.So, what’s my point? Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you're looking at the Christian god as if he's the only god that exists in history. Re: What is Everyone's Religious Beliefs For those who have requested evidence on whether or not a God exists, I do have it and would be willing to share it with you if you’re willing to read and listen to it. If you still don’t believe there is one, to each their own I guess. As I have said before, there are a lot of things in the Bible that I don’t believe or agree with. However, to it’s credit, I will say that it made predictions about things that would happen many years after it was written, and it ended up being correct on those assumptions. It predicted things like the holocaust, the Civil War, and the two world wars. How could those people predict things so accurately unless God told them that’s what was going to happen? There were some people pointing out that if the universe cannot evolve from nothing, then God should not be able to evolve from nothing either. The thing about that is, God has no beginning or end. He has existed before time was even a concept. As human beings this is pretty much impossible for us to comprehend, but it’s just the way it is. God does not follow real world logic, this is a fact that’s been set in stone for many years.I am kind of curious myself as to why human beings have so many flaws if God himself is infallible, but I suppose this is something will find out at some point. One thing I definitely know for sure though, if you guys don’t believe in God but you’re good people, it doesn’t mean you’re going to hell. That is just a scare tactic that people use to try to get others to fall in line with what they believe. I think God may talk to you about your lack of faith, but he’s not gonna send you to hell just because you don’t believe. Only bad people go to hell. What is Everyone's Religious Beliefs Hello.I'm very curious as to what you guys believe in and why. It gives me some additional insight into how people work and an excuse to tell people what I believe in.My beliefs are a bit complicated to talk about. They aren't something you can really define in one word, but if you were to attempt it I'd say the word I'm looking for is Agnostic. In case you're wondering, the general definition of Agnostic is A person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God. I'm not too sure if I fit under that term strictly. I believe that if you're a good person who's trying to do good things and contribute to society, then you will be going to heaven. I also believe there is a place for bad people to go. As for neutral people, the lines are a bit blurred for me.I believe in God, but I do not believe in the ways people interpret his rule in books, i.e., If you're gay or you have sexual relations with someone without going through a traditional wedding, you're going to hell!, or, Anybody who does not fall in line with the exact rulings and religious practices outlined in this book will either go to hell or will be terminated by someone who does follow these rulings/practices.. Yes, I am calling out both Christianity and radicalism, radicalism especially given the fact that it's a problem because of people taking the meaning of the books far too seriously and going far and beyond with their beliefs. But I think that anybody who's believing things based off the books has it all wrong, simply because the books are written by man. We can twist and turn things any way we like and sell it as the truth, so it's best not to believe things written in the books and instead go for believing that god wants us to be good people and simply acknowledge his existence rather than worship him at all times in all places under all situations, or thrust our beliefs in everybody's faces in an attempt to force them into a position of conversion or religious submissiveness.OK, I have now gone over my beliefs. I am now curious to know what everybody else thinks. Also, if I have mistaken something, please point it out to me., I am not a fan of misinforming others. The idea of this post was to tell people about my currant beliefs based off of information I think is accurate (which is why I've done hardly any research for this discussion), and to gain the opinions of others based off of the research that they may or may not have done so that I can learn something.Thanks for reading. Re: Question For Android Users Thanks for the responses.One of the main reasons I use iOS is because of their iMessage and FaceTime apps. Android does not seem to have anything like that, so I will be out of luck. However, I’m starting to not care about their apps too much. I don’t like how locked down the operating system is, and I want to be able to customize my phone. On android all even be able to install different voices on to it. Because of this, I think I’m done buying iPhones. The next phone I’m getting will be an android, which will hopefully be in the near future. Question For Android Users
Question For Android Users Hi.Over time I've realized that I'll need to get a new phone at some point. I was considering getting an Android, because I'm getting annoyed at the limitations my IPhone forces upon me. There's so much customization on Android, it seems as if the sky's the limit. There's just one problem I have with it... The screen reader isn't that great. I recently used a cheap android phone, and not only could I not push the numbers in the phone app because they were tiny, but the phone didn't switch to speaker phone automatically so I had a hard time listening to the prompts and my sr. I also never had much luck with Talkback to begin with. So my question is, how do you Android users cope with it? I Have a Couple Windows Ten Problems Hello...I've had a few issues with Windows Ten which have been driving me nuts for a while, so I figured I'd come on here and ask for advice.My first problem is, whenever my battery gets low, or at least Windows's definition of low which happens to be 10% because that's how I set it, it force shuts down as if it just reached -1 percent, without any low battery notifications prier to that. Does anyone know why it could be doing that and if so, is there a way to fix it?The second problem is in the mail app. When I delete emails, they go to both the important folder and the trash folder. I guess it somehow thinks deleted emails are important, I'm not sure, but is there a way to stop that? It's really annoying because all I want to do is get to the mail which I actually flagged as important, but I have to get through garbage first.Thank you in advance for the assistance. I'm and American, but I am a closed book, and am really hard to talk to about sensitive things. Likewise for the English. The one thing you can't do in either of these countries is make generalizations about the people in those countries, because it's probably gonna earn you some weird looks from people. I tried hitting alt, alt space, alt f, control o, control n, control l, and none of them worked. It also comes with two Spanish voices. If you look more at the page there's actually way more than Realspeak as well, i.e., he has a 2005 version of neospeach up there and other things that I can't remember at the top of my head. I wish he'd put VW Julie on there, but I can kind of see why he doesn't because he could get in trouble for doing that. Isn't that voice still sold? The Amazon Echo has a proprietary charger. Also, Google is able to search for more things than the echo, naturally because Google is the largest search engine on the market. I was actually able to charge the VR Classic, and it acts as if it's never been used before so that's taken care of. Unfortunately, the stream still won't charge, and I haven't done further testing on the stream's CD accessory at the moment so as far as I'm aware it's still dead. I left the stream plugged in all night and it still won't charge, so I definitely think I'll need to get a new battery. Humanware doesn't have anymore in stock, so if anyone can sell me 1 I'd be happy. This is a really good device even now and I don't plan on ditching it, but I also don't want to use it as a desktop player when it's clearly intended to be portable. I checked the diagnostics screen and it seems there is no way to reset the battery cycles either.. Could Someone Sell Me a Battery For an Old Victor Reader Stream Hello...So, I recently had a birthday, and my Mom decided to buy me a VR Stream. She thought she was getting a good deal since it was up on EBay for $100, but it turns out the stream had a couple problems. One, it's the original model. Two, the battery is out of cycles and can't hold a charge. If someone could sell me a battery, I'd be willing to pay whatever you had in mind. I don't mean to come across to people begging, but I'd like to avoid getting a new stream altogether because we already spent $100 on it. I Have An Interesting Question Hello...So this question was actually asked on another topic by someone else, but it was never answered. I'm not exactly sure how to summarize this question in the title of the topic, because it'll take a few sentences to say. Assuming you were able to modify a hard drive's pins by hand, could you make your own files? How exactly are files made, is it something that someone could just modify like that? I also wonder the same about tapes, how are these tape recordings made? I assume it would be really difficult to just make recordings by hand, usually nothing ever works that way. I'd be interested to hear an answer to this question. Re: Humble Bundle no better than spammers My mother is a casino worker, and because of this, somehow the place she worked at got my email address off her contacts and started spamming me with emails about Caesar's Palace Hotels, and for a while I couldn't find an unsubscribe button for some reason. I blocked the email address it was coming from, but they ended up changing their email and kept messaging me. I got tired of it, so I looked up their phone number on google and gave them a call. I called them at least 3 times asking to be removed from the list and kept getting the same answer, "click the unsubscribe button." There was no unsubscribe button. Well finally, 1 message did have it, and now I don't get messages like that anymore... well... for now anyway. Until her casino figures out that I got off their list and puts me back on again, because business ethics. Where Can I Find Good Animal Sounds Hello...I've played games like Papa Sangre, Papa Sangre 2, Q9, A Hero's Call, etc. One thing I've noticed about all of these games is that they have really good animal sounds that are commonly used. Despite this fact, I have searched all over the internet, and I've only found a few of these sounds. Can someone point me to some sound libraries that have really good animal sounds? I was told that I could just search for a user name, but typically when I want to mention someone, I like to go to my friends list and press the first 2 or 3 letters of their name to jump to them. When they put emogies in their name I have to up arrow through the list until I get to them, and I have a rather large friends list. I suppose I'll just have to search for the user somehow. Also, sorry for my ignorance about sited people looking at emogies, I'm not 1 so I didn't know. I just don't like seeing it in display names.@connor142 On Twitter, nobody's business is their own unless they're direct messaging someone else. As for the display name thing, more than 1 person has emogies in their name. I wouldn't just block everyone who does that, because I only block people if they say something stupid. Also, what do you do if you don't use a screen reader? You can't set a dictionary entry in your eyes, and I don't think Twitter has any way to turn off emogies so you're pretty much screwed. If you use Microsoft Narrator your probably screwed with that 1 too, unless Narrator doesn't read emogies. What Do You Guys Think About Emogies Hello...So, I've been holding back on saying anything on this matter but it just came up in a Twitter conversation. Why do people have to fill their display names with emogies. It makes it impossible to use first letter navigation, and you have to sit through your screen reader reading them all. If you're using a screen reader I suppose it's OK since you could just set a dictionary entry, but what if you're sited? Then your forced to read all of those emogies, and you can't block them out. I know some sited people don't like that because I've talked to a couple of them. Someone tried to defend them by saying that someone could complain about all the tts stuff that blind people like to do, but you have the choice of weather or not you want to watch it. You don't with emogies, because they're everywhere. Plus, that argument isn't valid anyways because blind people aren't the only people who make TTS stuff. What do you guys think? Lets try to keep the discussion civil, the conversation I had on Twitter wasn't really civil and if you want to give harsher opinions like I did, just do it on Twitter. I was locked in class rooms, and I was locked in basements. Your situation is pretty close to mine. I still fought them though, and it worked. I guess it depends on the personality of the teachers and parents alike. Fortunately I had teachers that were impatient and parents who believed me because I always told them the truth, so everything worked out fine for me. If you had teachers who were trained to deal with students and parents who don't believe everything you tell them, then it could make things harder. Speaking from experience, when you challenge these people, it makes them want to deal with you less and less, eventually leading to the point where they're absolutely sick of you and send you back home. At that point your parent(s) would have to send you to another school, where you could have had a better life. The staff abused me, sure, but there's only so much they can dish out before they lose it themselves and get sick of you. Should Teachers Determine Who's Allowed To Touch Your Equipment Hello...I was going through voice albums as I like to call them, (basically just recordings), and I came across 1 where me and a friend of mine were using each other's technology. That reminded me about a rule at my former blind school that really grinds against my nerves, so I figured I'd post here to get opinions. BTW, to the friend I'm referring too, I think you might know who you are, you're on this forum and I'd appreciate your opinion as well if you'd like to tell me. You may also have to correct me about certain things sense I'm getting this info from memory. There's a rule where you are not allowed to grant other people permission to use your stuff. I am a firm believer that I am the king of my stuff, and if I want to let my best friend use my laptop then no teacher should be allowed to tell me no, and neither should anyone else. If people want to use my stuff, they should ask me, no authority should have the right to tell them no because it's not their stuff, it's mine. I found out about this rule when my friend/roommate told me I wasn't allowed to use his braille plus 18, because the house parent told him no. Ever sense then, it's angered me a lot. What do you guys think? I'm not sure about the rest of you, but for me it's really boring to have the same year number for 365 days, and it's really satisfying to see the change.You know, every year for Christmas, I have a tradition that I like to go through with. I listen to old Dectalk stuff, and I like to share old memories from 2012-2013. I'd like to take a minute to talk about 1 such memory I made while me and my family were camping out in the woods. My sister fell in the creak when looking for flowers, and shortly after she got out my brother came over and started helping me throw rocks in the water to hear the splash it made. At 1 point I got splashed, and the water was freezing. I sounded like a 6 year old but I was 13 at the time.
