Thanks all for the replies - though I've read CASR part 45 and guidance note,
plus AN84, I can't find the bit about paint versus stickers?!
(actually stickers sound great if underwing markings are not required!)

CASA recently conducted a post-implementation review of Parts 45 and 47, and a
Notice of Proposed Rule Making is currently out for comment until 26 February.
The stated objective is to cover off the subject of the current general and
specific exemptions and rationalise with exemptions
