Dear List,
Things are going along pretty well just now. I really think that Stevie will
improve once all this dreadful, hazardous ice has left us. Stevie is still
not great on anything but flat surfaces and the ice is awful. But a guardian
angel is sending us some boots to assist Stevie's traction
Dear List,
Well it is now Sunday evening and we have been through yet another rough
period. This time I was the one with the problem but of course it directly
effects Stevie. A well intentioned lady from my community brought over a
lovely casserole because she felt that we had had a rough go of it
Dear Kenny,
I am a very novice Berner parent so my note will be not nearly as
informative as others. The only advice that I can give you is to listen
intently to the experts on this List. They are indeed a wealth of knowledge,
love and support for Berner admirers and adoptees. Without them I would
Dear List,
Well we made our way to the vet today. Stevie has had kind of a rough couple
of days. Very staggery and shaky last evening, some vomiting and his spirits
seemed to be quite low. Especially today, after a thorough exam, blood work
and chest films, they could not come up with a definitive
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOLLY!!
I just had to drop you a quick note and let you know that Stevie and I hope
that Molly had a fabulous birthday. I can just visualize her "holding court"
in the Sun Room !! Fabulous. We are hoping and praying that Molly's surgery
will be a complete success and that sh
Dear List,
I think Rhona's idea is a grand one! But since we are both relatively "new"
listers we would need to know if this subject has ever been broached before.
I have been approached by several individuals about writing the "Stevie
Saga" for a couple of publications and I would be very pleased
Dear Jean,
What an absolutely gorgeous site. You have really out done yourself. It is
obvious that you produced this site with all the love, care and concern that
is in your heart for all of these "Fallen Heroes". I am sure that I am not
the only one who views it with tears present when we see ju
Bea,
Well you were certainly right when you warned us to grab the kleenex. I am
sitting here in floods of tears, as I am sure everyone else who reads this
will be too. It just breaks my heart to realize that this does happen and
we all know that it does. Unfortunately in this throw away society
Dear List,
Just wanted to thank you all, once again, for all of your kind warmth and
support. Firstly, we were so wonderfully welcomed back by so many, even
though we were only gone for two weeks. It feels really wonderful to be back
amongst my friends on the List and all over the world. Now in r
Sorry I didnt put this in plain text format, I am just reposting the same

Dear List,
Just wanted to let you know that Stevie and I hit a milestone today. I had a
neighbor give me a big huge hand and we loaded Sweet Stevie into my truck
and took him for a drive to the city. We really only went to the Drive thru
for coffee, but it is the first time that we have been out to
Dear List,
We are back! These last two weeks without all of you have been very
long and lonely. I am so glad to be back amongst the living. Again, I need
to thank the list for all their help, care and concern. The only way that I
am able to be back on line is due to the love and generosity of

Well Dear List it is Sunday morning and this is indeed my final good bye. I
am dismantling the computer right after I compose this note. I do appreciate
all of your emails since my good bye posting of yesterday. Once again, I
want to thank each and everyone who has sent us prayers, love and so much
Gee does it seem that I am trying to drag this out as long as possible
For any one who has asked I will be on line until tomorrow at noon and then
we will be gone. So I guess that there will be one more farewell. (I feel

Dear List,
It is with great regret that I have to say good-bye to the list.
Unfortunately, the computers that I have been using belong to an
organization that I have been an executive of. Due to a change of command
the computer must now go with the new executive, and I do not have one of my
own. I

Dear List
Just a note to let you know that Stevie is doing ok. He has not made too
much progress in the last few days. He is still unstable on his feet and his
head remains kind of cocked to one side. This is of course exacerbated by
his blown ear drum, and they feel that the inner ear is also infe
Dear List,
Well it is Friday night and I had to say good bye to my sister today.
Unfortunately she had to fly back home. I will miss her so much :( Stevie's
spirits seem a bit low today, but he might have just absorbed that from me
as I was sad over my sister's leaving. Physically he is about the

Stevie actually walked from my living room to the kitchen today almost
unassisted!! Looks a bit like an inebriated partier. He is now eating just
about anything that is put in front of him, except kibble. He will eat a
little of that if it is hand fed to him. But just a few pieces. He sh
Dear List,
Stevie continues to progress, slowly, but I see a difference in his appetite
today. The steroidal factor, I am sure, will soon kick in when his strength
increases and we will have to be careful with his weight. He is less shaky
getting to his feet but still pretty staggery, I do not want
Hi Everyone!
I have a question about lap sitting. My big Berner Boy, Stevie, who by the
way is now a "mature" one year old as of January 1!!, seems to think that he
is a lap dog! Stevie weighs approx 105 pounds and whenever anyone that he
cares about sits down in a comfortable chair he automaticall
Well Stevie has now officially turned the big ONE!! Stevie was born on
January 1, 2002. He was a bit under the weather yesterday (had several bouts
of diarrhea and just not all entirely well) I had given him a new bone on
New Years Eve and that may have done it, perhaps not enough fat trimmed
off!!
Merry Christmas
I would just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone on the
Berner List a very Joyous Holiday and a safe and Happy New Year. I am
relatively new to this list and I would like to say thankyou to everyone who
has replied to my questions and para

Okay this may sound ridiculous but here goes. Would people really pay $3000
U.S. funds for a puppy from a pet shop? Am I the only one who thinks that
this is an outrageous amount of money? Perhaps some one could email me
privately concerning the cost of Bernese Mountain Dogs in the United States.

Hi, Well Stevie has just discovered his "tail" within the last month or so.
He seems to catch it in a side glance and then treats it like it is some
alien life-form. He'll chase and chase and chase, sometimes he'll catch it
and sometimes not. He actually got dizzy this morning and landed head first

I can certainly relate to this as my 11-month old is a very active sock
eater. Clean, dirty, old, new. Stevie has no specific preference. In fact
about a month ago I had to rush him to the vet at 1:30 in the morning as he
was choking on a piece of "sock". All turned out fine but a very quick

Yes I caught the segment on Martha this a.m. What a beautiful site, with all
those big, beautiful Berners all in one place. I must say that I was jealous
that I wasnt there to share in the fun and excitement. How fortunate we are
to have been adopted by such a loving and caring breed. I am just so
definitely comes into his own
when he is allowed to roam free at the farm. The owners and I are best of
friends so we are thankfully there alot. I bought my Berner boy from a
breeder who also breeds and raises quarter horses. There is a definite
connection with Berners and horses. I think it is true
