Hi all,
I attempted to do a system restore on my desktop computer and for whatever
reason, my computer wouldn't restart. As a result, I had to do an improper
shutdown. When I tried to boot it up, windows didn't boot up.
I'm using windows XP Media Center and Jaws 10.0
Does this mean I will
Hi Debbie,
Can you get someone to look at the machine and see what it wants? My hope is
that it's just doing a giant chkdsk because of the improper shutdown and
that it will eventually come back by itself, even if it takes an hour or so.
Of course that depends on the drive and the speed of the
Hi John,
Yeah, I'm going to have to take it to this computer place to let them look
at it, because I don't have anyone here to look at it for me.
I'm hoping I don't have to reformat the hard drive.
Thanks.

Formatting the Windows XP Startup Disk
Formatting a Windows XP Startup Disk is a straightforward procedure. Of
course, before you can begin, you need a blank 1.44-MB high-density floppy
disk.
To begin, insert the floppy disk into the drive. Then, launch My
Hi Debbie,
Maybe this will save you some money.
Let the darned thing try to boot and hit enter every once in a while and
give it an hour or so to see if it comes back.
Also there is a boot menu which you can access by hitting F8 repeatedly
after you turn on the machine.

Hi Lawrence,
I could tell you stories about machines that won't boot, bad drives and
finicky Windows installations, it's all just what you pick up along the way
after the frustration level subsides a bit.

Hi John,
I thank you for all your help. I unplugged the computer already so that I
can take it to the computer shop.
I don't have a floppy disc drive, but I'm sure they can make a startup disc
for me.
I'll keep these messages in case I need to refer to them at a later date.

Hi All,
Yesterday I put approximately 8 giggibites of files on a 16 giggibite flash
drive. There were roughly 45 different files. Today all the files are gone
except for 12 of them. What would make all these files disappear like that?
All help/ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is your flash drive formatted to NTFS? Normally, flash drives come
formatted to FAT32, which has a size limitation of 2gb. So maybe you
actually only successfully downloaded 12 files instead of the 45 you
thought. Just a hunch.

I've seen articles on this but never had a need for it as I have a usb

Hi,
I also see that Gom will automatically pick up on the Plugins installed for

I don't see a cd burning option but the audio capture utility lets you rip
everything to .wav or similar format where you can easily burn it with an
external program or the Windows built-in
From my experience it doesn't much need anything in the area of plugins but
