Re: Brew pressure erratic

So, I'm pretty sure I figured it out. After taking the OPV as apart as I could get it and blowing it out with compressed air, I reassembled and fired Brewtus up. Set the pressure to around 10 bar and loaded up a shot. The machine went to 10 and then backed of to 8 after about a second, another

Great feedback. Allow me to clarify. What I witnessed: During extraction the pressure will settle at 7 for a period, maybe 7 or 8 seconds. Then it'll shoot up to 10 for a few seconds and then settle quickly back down to 7. The previous owner described exactly the same circumstances with a

Hey JPaul, glad to hear it is going better. You might consider a new OPV, since you have a brand new pump anyway. It shouldn't have the odd behavior even at higher settings. I have gone as high as 11-12 bar on mine to experiment with shots (not a good result, by the way), and the system was

By the way, I re-read my post from yesterday, and realized that I wasn't very clear about how the OPV comes apart (at least the ones that I have/had). So I'll post a photo in the group here in a minute, which shows the parts of my OPV as they come out. The pen is pointing to the black puck I

Hi all-- Finally got my PID and rotary kits, and am installing them today. Going smoothly so far. On the rotary, directions say to extend the blue and brown wires on the rotary to the existing pump wires. Can I safely assume that blue goes to blue, and brown to red? Also, the rotary has a

Hello everyone! Just placed an order from WLL on Friday as well as a Baratza Vario grinder. I'm very excited and nervous since this is my first espresso set-up. I have some fresh beans from Red Bird and have ordered a tamper, also a bottomless portafilter so I can learn about my extractions

Thanks Ira. Some random thoughts/comments/questions on the PID and rotary conversions today. First off, all is well--all wiring and plumbing seems to have gone fine (with one exception, below), and my B2 is now PID'ed and rotary'ed. Mmmm, sweet sweet quiet pump. Now I need to add anti-vibe

Hi Cindy, Having just installed a PID in my B2 today, I can say with confidence that the PID is reading temp at the boiler. It has a thermowell in the top of the boiler and a short wire to the PID unit. You can read about many experiments with temp probes inside the PF, etc. on homebarista
