Hi Nari,
I live off of Ellis Hollow Road (on Hartwood) and I have a pair of pileateds
(and occasionally their offspring) that eat at our suet feeders several times a
day, starting in May. They tend to disappear in late August and then we don't
see them for the entire winter. I've always wonde

I do believe that we accurately identified a Louisiana Water Thrush at the base
of 2nd dam area at Six Mile Creek on Saturday, April 15 around 8:50 am. It was
singing and eating along the lower pipe at the base of the dam. A great sight!

Mary Jane, seems like you might need more than decals on those particular
windows. American Bird Conservancy has some great options for homeowners

Thanks for caring.

Mary Jane, I suspect windows. A few years a go I had a call about two
birds found together on a patio at this time of year. They were fox
sparrows, both in near perfect condition. Especially when birds can see
light coming though from other windows they think that they can fly
through. And yo

Does anyone know if there are any ducks in the ponds in Union Springs?
Has anyone seen any eagles recently at Montezuma or cranes in the mucklands?
Thanks

Bird flotillas on Cayuga Lake
On Saturday, before the weather changed, I could make out huge flotillas of
birds in the middle of Cayuga Lake-- at least a hundred birds in each of the
two pods I saw. I couldn't quite make out what kind of birds they were and
wonder if someone else identified th
Yesterday, May 1 I heard a Prairie Warbler and a Chestnut-Sided Warbler at the
Cornell Plantations in the area of the overlook with the gong.
Also this morning I work to the sweet song of Wood Thrush, but I think I live
slightly out of basin on Michigan Hollow Rd in Danby.
Happy Birding!

Hey all,
When you post a sighting, it would be greatly appreciated if you could
specify the area in which you saw your bird as many of us may not know
where you live. I don't need your personal address, just perhaps an
intersection or landmark is enough. Thank you for your postings!

I have had one Carolina Wren here all winter, and lately have been seeing two
at once, at my feeder railings. I have heard their songs a lot over the months.
Tough little cuties.
