Last evening, at about 7:15, my husband and I were in the neighborhood
of Montezuma and thought we'd swing by and take a look just in case
something was going on. Well, it was! As we watched for 20-30 minutes,
wave after wave of Snow Geese passed over without a break. We're not
experienced
Lots of geese moving this morning, Snows and Canadas. Right over our house on
Hunt Hill Rd., east of Ithaca (Dryden). Yesterday they were more to the south
of our house. Also big flocks of Blackbirds. Mostly Grackles so far.

Watching the movement of snow geese from my office in the Veterinary Research

Thursday I saw many flying over Sapsucker Woods area about 2 PM. Then when I
drove to Meadowridge Vet Clinic on rt. 34 in No. Lansing, I saw a large flock
landing in a corn stubble field just north of Vet's office.
So, driving around where there are old corn fields can offer good views of Snow
As I stepped out of the truck in my driveway at 1545 yesterday, the barky
honking of a large ‘disorganized’ flock of SNOW GOOSE was heard overhead.
I did a quick count of a subset and estimated about 400. They were relatively
low (under 1000’ probably).
I grabbed binocs but only had time to look

I just watched a couple hundred Canadas spiral down onto Mill Pond. They came
in from east of us where they usually spend much of the days in farm fields. I
suspect they heard gunshots somewhere or maybe sporting

are migrating today. Renee and I saw at least 6 different flocks

I just watched a large swarm of Snow Geese over my yard, amused by their rude
barking calls, and noted that while they had distinctly black wing tips they
were more gray than white-- I think they may be muddy!

My daughter reported about 100 SNOW GEESE in a field near TCCC late this

From our position between Seneca and Cayuga at the western edge of the basin

of Ithaca it appeared that the large numbers of geese were meandering in many
directions, circling over large areas and attempting to find a safe zone in

During the last hour, about 1,000 Canada and 300 Snow Geese flew over my head
and out of the basin in what looked like determined southbound migration. The
high hilltops (circa 1900 feet) seemed to scrape the cloud ceiling earlier, but

Despite heavy migration last week, today many thousands of SNOW GEESE
remain in several large flocks somewhere about halfway up on Cayuga Lake,
and a single large flock on Seneca Lake. I know because I saw them from my
window seat.

I've just seen from our house near Interlaken, numerous large flocks of SNOW
GEESE flying south over Cayuga Lake. They are quite high and flying in
formation, unlike their more scattered patterns when flying more locally. I
estimated 3-4,000 and there could easily have been more. They might
