Wilson, I am already a CCIE in RS so I know what to expect when I am taking a CCIE exam. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] XML Services
Hi Guys and thanks ! Yeah I can see the XML files from a remote browser and the syntax looks ok to me. What I have really done is the following: Enterprise Parameters : Services Provisioning is set to BOTH URL Directories is set to http://10.10.210.5/test.xml I have NOT deleted the services, I prefer to disable them and to update subscription. Here is what the test.xml file looks like : CiscoIPPhoneMenu MenuItem NameCorporate Directory/Name URLApplication:Cisco/CorporateDirectory/URL /MenuItem MenuItem NamePlaced Calls/Name URLApplication:Cisco/PlacedCalls/URL /MenuItem MenuItem NameReceived Calls/Name URLApplication:Cisco/ReceivedCalls/URL /MenuItem TitleBLABLA TITLE/Title PromptBLABLA PROMPT/Prompt /CiscoIPPhoneMenu Pretty easy and straitghforward right ? then the lobby phone has its Services Provisioning field set to internal After a manual reset for all the phones, Lobby phone has the no services configured text displayed when I ask for services .. so that works right ! The problem is that all the other phones seem to request traffic to the UCCX server but in fact they do NOT. I have sniffed on the CIPC phone that I have on my laptop and I see 0 packets going to UCCX .. I can tell you that I see packets going to UCCX when I type http://10.10.210.5/test.xml in my browser I can see the xml file perfectly . but looks like the CUCM does not tell the phone to use the CCX server for the URL ... I ve done this several time before my 1st attempt without any problem but I am facing issues here and I don't really know why ... is it some kind of vmware snapshot issue ? I even tried to put the CIPC phone on external and I manually typed the URL in its field and still not working :() Thanks guys ! Nicolas PS: Dbreplication is fine :() Le Friday, November 08, 2013 3:25:35 PM, Justin Carney a écrit : First, make sure you restart (or even reset) your phone after making a change to directories. Seeing XML file from a browser is a good start, I'm assuming that's what you mean by can reach the XML file... The syntax looks OK offhand, but I always pull up the default enterprise parameters URL and point a browser there for the sample syntax. If you have a permissions issue then create a new XML file on CCX and save it DIRECTLY in the inetpub folder (ie, don't save on desktop and move to inetpub folder). I always remove the leading/trailing whitespaces in the XML (i see your lines are indented) but I don't believe that actually matters. Try doing that and creating a new file just to test. File name should end with .xml not .txt. There a few things to consider when using both for services provisioning. First, this means phones will use both Internal and External services as the name implies. Internal services are the built-in services when CUCM is installed (missed, received, placed, personal, corp, AND VOICEMAIL) and external are specified by URL. I believe the external services are listed first, then the internal are listed second (please test - it could be the other way around). Like most settings in enterprise/service parameters these apply to all devices, UNLESS a setting is applied at the phone level. If you have the enterprise services URL and also a URL on a phone, the one on the phone is used for external plus any/all of the internal services. In this case the enterprise params url is ignored. This could be useful if you want to maintain 'default' services for all phones but one you can set the URL on just one phone. If you want to change all phones you can set the ent param for all phones and then optionally override that with a different custom URL on one phone. I have seen different strategies on these directory questions. Personally I do not delete the default internal services, instead I just disable them if I don't want to want them there and need to use both For example one of the IPexpert practice labs says disable all services but voicemail on a 'lobby' phone and don't affect other phones. Voicemail can ONLY be an internal service. The solution here it to mimic the full set of default internal services by creating an XML on contact center and put this URL in ent params, setting the global services provisioning to 'both. All internal services except voicmail should be disabled, so all phones will get missed/placed/etc. from the URL and VM from internal. For the one lobby phone simply set the services provisioning to internal (it will ignore the ent param URL since that is external and the phone only looks for internal). The only internal service is voicemail and you have met the requirements for this question. Hope this helps... - Justin On Fri, Nov 8, 2013 at 6:14 AM, Nicolas MICHEL mcl.nico...@gmail.com mailto:mcl.nico...@gmail.com wrote: Hey guys I m using this xml for my services, just to check the structure. I contacted supp...@ipexpert.com and supp...@proctorlabs.com and afterhours support but no one answering Yesterday I asked the support if I can extend my current session by booking a new following session but no one answered. I tried booking a new following session hoping it will be linked up automatically but unfortunately it didn't. So after that I had to stop my work after feeling frustrated. Today I booked three consecutive sessions but the same problem happened again but in a different form. I noticed the remaining time is 3 hrs and 40 minutes in the first session and informed the support guys but no one is answering. After finishing my first session, I thought it will be disconnected but the remaining time changed to 24 hours. Okay feeling happy with the new hours but then maybe after about 30 minutes I found my telnet session got disconnected and I can't access them or access the servers and after refreshing my account at Proctorlabs site , I found the pod has changed. So means everything has gone. The sessions were not linked-up as what they told us. I just wonder whom to complain in such cases? BTW,I also schedule sessions in the other competitor company vracks but to say the truth I found their support and response are very good. Not only that but they gave me back my credits and more. [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUE/UCCX Integration
Hey Guys. I had some trouble this weekend with my CUE integration with CUCM and I would like to know how to do it correctly while doing it fast ... (no best practices here I know :) ) This is how I see things. -Create CTI RP in the none partition (accessible to anyone) with a CSS that can see CTI ports (let's say CSS_CTI_RP that includes PT_CTI_PORTS) - Create 2 CTI Ports that are in the PT_CTI_PORTS with a CSS that can see directly phones (CSS_INTERNAL that include PT_INTERNAL) -Create a user that has CTI standard enabled and controlled devices : CTI-RP and CTI_Ports -Create a voicemail pilot that is equal to the CTI RP in the none partition -Create a Voicemail profile that include the newly created voicemail pilot for BR2 -Apply Voicemail profile to the phones *reset them* Then on the CUE. -Check the license and upload new license if not OK -Go Offline and restore factory default - Wizard install: Configure CUCM IP/CTI user/ etc etc and imports users . Check if the CTI ports are registered on the CUCM Check if the CTI RP is registered on the CUCM Check by pressing the voicemail button on the phone... My main concern is about the CSS/PT configuration ... Can someone please enlighten me ? That would be awesome ! That is because some of the phones are not actually attached to the rack device but layer two tunneled to the rack. That means they do not recycle when you bounce them. Try this change your ip range and see if the phone gets a new ip, if so then it is something ou are missing. If not try pinging the phone, does it reply? If so then you might recover it if not then open a ticket and see if you can get another pod or use a softphone for now. You can also hardware VPN into proctor labs and I find that to be the best solution for them to give me more of a true lab experience. Make sure you have the following config: *encapsulation dot1q 10 native* I don't think it is DHCP snooping or you would not receive an IP address. However, you could (and should) Erase the config on the IP phone to ensure it isn't just using an old DHCP config. I would also check the DHCP scope. Check the server level (where you are likely specifying global Option 150 params) and check the scope itself. Make sure you haven't fat fingered a subnet mask, subnet, begin/end address, or default gateway. When I have had a problem where the phone was getting an address but was not progressing through TFTP and registration it was usually related to a misconfiguration of the DHCP scope in CUCM. If you have to change the DHCP scope params then remember to restart the DHCP monitor service. It is a finicky beast. HTH. -Bill On Jan 8, 2013, at 9:57 AM, Nicolas MICHEL wrote: Hey guys. Your gateway will prefix your incoming PSTN call using the prefix that you configure on the gateway page : This is globalization (on the Incoming calling party number) Then your phone will invoke a Translation pattern that will strip what you do not want on the calling party number That’s it ! I would like something powerful that will allow me to run more than required and I don't want to be penalized when waiting for the advanced CUCM service parameter window :) I was thinking to get an UCS C210 M2 but I am not sure that a single Xeon 5506 would be enough Also I am planning for something like 48Gb of Ram . In phone configuration page you can specify individual phone load file. You can use new phone-load file name here (to be converted). After registering to CUCM , phone will then upgrade to new phone load. Once upgrade is done delete the phone from CUCM re-add with other type (SIP/SCCP). Nic, The few times I have used Proctor I just used Cisco VPN client locally. Using that method you have to rely on soft phones. I used IP Blue, CIPC, and X-Lite. The IP Blue is nice because you can run multiple stations (compute resources permitting). However, the free version of IP Blue is annoying and eats up significant time over an 8 hour lab. There is a good overview VoD here: https://proctorlabs.com/swf/demo/PLDemo.html For the hardware VPN, Proctor labs has a link to IOS recommendations and configs when you attach to your vRack. I tried to find them on the site without connecting to a session but couldn't. -Bill -- William Bell blog: http://ucguerrilla.com twitter: @ucguerrilla On Jul 23, 2012, at 9:52 AM, Nicolas MICHEL wrote: Hey guys, Just jumping into the CCIE Voice playground even if I was in Vik's bootcamp 4 weeks ago (highly recommended by the way, I ll write a review about it when I got some time). I can't give any details, but I would anticipate a new Voice blueprint being announced in the very near future. If you're studying (and hoping to pass 3.0 before 4.0 is introduced) - this post will help with that goal. Last Chance to Register for IPexpert’s Online Voice “Alchemy” Class…. CCIE Voice 3.o Candidates, As most of you are aware – there are leaks that the CCIE Voice lab will be changing soon. Although there hasn’t been an official announcement – I anticipate that this announcement will come soon (possibly within the next week or so). With that being said, if you’re studying for 3.0 – your window of opportunity to pass this blueprint is shrinking! A few weeks ago we announced a new online class entitled “IPexpert’s Online CCIE Voice Alchemy Class“. This course was announced (and offered) due to, what we felt, was a need in the industry. We sought out one of the industry’s most respected Voice Instructors – Kevin Wallace – and put the course together. As you all know – IPexpert leads the industry in CCIE Voice Lab training – as we have helped certify more CCIE Voice Engineers than any company – worldwide. This course, is highly recommended by me and our team. For such a nominal cost – it’s training that will drastically improve your chances at passing this lab – in that limited window in which the 3.0 lab will be offered. Here are a few facts: Q. When does this course start? A. Thursday, June 7, 2012, 8:00 – 10:30 PM EDT Q. Who should attend this course? A. This course assumes the student has already been through at least one practice lab on their own and that they are at least familiar with the technologies on the CCIE Voice Lab blueprint. Q. What is the basis for the course content? A. This live on-line boot camp walks the student through a new mock lab (that Kevin Wallace created) over a series of eight sessions. Q. What distinguishes this boot camp from a tradition boot camp? A. The biggest difference (huge!) is its focus on lab strategy. There are 12 strategies outlined in what Kevin Wallace calls his “CCIE Voice Alchemy” process, which helps the student “turn their lab day into gold.” This boot camp demonstrates these 12 strategies while working through the new mock lab (in a non-linear fashion). Q. What is the goal of this bootcamp? A. The goal is for the student to complete this boot camp with a much deeper understanding of the technologies on the lab, and (maybe even more importantly) have a set of strategies that they can use on lab day to make the most effective use of their time. Q. Who is this Kevin Wallace guy? A. Kevin Wallace is a CCIE RS and Voice. With Cisco experience dating back to 1989 (on a Cisco AGS+ router running Cisco IOS 7.x), Kevin has been a network design specialist for the Walt Disney World Resort, a Senior Technical Instructor for SkillSoft, and a network manager for Eastern Kentucky University. Kevin holds a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering (focusing on digital communications) from the University of Kentucky, and has also authored or co-authored multiple books for Cisco Press, including: Voice over IP First-Step,Cvoice Foundation Learning Guide, TSHOOT Cert Kit, TSHOOT Official Certification Guide, and ROUTE Cert Kit. Kevin’s website is1ExamAMonth.com. I would also encourage you to review the following 3 videos (below) in which Kevin discusses some very interesting and valuable topics. 12-Step Strategy Video Interview w/ a Proctor Troubleshooting (CCIE Voice) Video Lastly (and what you all want to hear!) – For the few remaining seats, we are offering students an incredible promotion. Class begins June 7th (TOMORROW!), if you cannot attend the live scheduled times you will have access to review the recorded sessions from your IPexpert Account. But from the CUPS deployment guide, to configure the CUPC client, you should also associate the line appearance of the CUPC device with the user (p3-18). No problem, but when you then take a look at the presence viewer @ CUPS, you notice that the CUPC does not have a line nor presence info, just an indication of it's (IM only) capabilities. (IM only I guess because there's no AD integration (?) and I cannot call contacts added via the Sync Agent (CUPC user pages) - but that's another story) When you on the contrary associate the CUPC too with the user on the CUCM user pages, then the line + presence state appears in the presence viewer from CUPS. So do you also need to associate the CUPC device with the user altogether ? And shouldn't you then see the presence state of each device (CUPC deskphone) seperately for that user in another CUPC client - I can only see the 'aggregated' presence state... any thoughts are more than welcome. Hey there George. I agree with your statements, some of the posts are very very interesting but I think we are overwhelmed with the number of questions. Again I dont want to be mean with anyone but I received some private mails that agreed with my opinion. We could then start a forum that would track any voice topics... My 2 cts. Nic Nicolas, I think it would be more constructive if you actually answered the guy. this is a very good question, and I believe a lot of people might have this wrong. As I already answered Datucha in private. I'll just put here the correct formula for calculations as per Cisco SRND: For N amount of calls configured for any codec speed with any sampling period: bandwidth = (N-1) * (configured codec speed on configured sampling period) + (codec speed on worth case scenario sampling period - 10ms) as per this example for g729 configured with 30ms sampling period on CUCM for 10 calls: bandwidth= 9 * 19kbps + 40kbps where 19 is g729 speed on 30ms sampling rate... well it's actually 18.648bps but I rounded it up. and 40 is same codec on worth case scenario 10ms sampling rate. [OSL | CCIE_Voice] IP Expert Materials question and how to use them
Hey there. First I would like to apologize if my questions are a little bit off topic for this technical mailing list. I already passed a CCIE in RS and now need to focus on voice technologies since there is a business need from my boss. I have a very little knowledge in this field and already finished the CCNA books/videos. Currently reading the CVOICE book, my plan is the following : - CVOICE Book/Videos - Gateways and Gatekeepers book - CIPT1-2 Book/Videos - CUCM Book from Cisco Press - Unitiy Book from Cisco Press - Presence Book from Cisco press - SIP Trunking Book I guess this will provide me some background and I ll need much more hands on labs ... I m actually deploying a full UC solutions ... What I would like to ask you guys is how do you use the IP Expert materials. I m not going to ask that to the sales because we all know that sales guys would sale their own mother for 10 bucks :P I m asking here because you are using the materials on a daily basis and if anyone passed their lab using IPexpert please dont be shy to provide some useful advice :) (preparation advice using IPX materials I m asking . not non NDA stuff) Who is the instructor that is on IPX videos ? how are they ? Also what about the workbooks ? Are they both printed and electronic or electronic and videos ? Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] IP Expert Materials question and how to use them
CCIE products Matt, I wont pass any CCNP test, I already have a CCIE and wanna go to sit another CCIE directly . But I will follow the CCNP path to go to the CCIE fist since I still don't have all the fondations. I just want to build a plan for my CCIE and this is why I'm asking some questions about the IPX products . Thanks and merry Xmas everyone ! :) Le 24 déc. 2011 à 19:15, Matt Just mj...@ipexpert.com a écrit : Nic, Are you asking about the CCIE products or the CCNP products? First I would like to apologize if my questions are a little bit off topic for this technical mailing list. I already passed a CCIE in RS and now need to focus on voice technologies since there is a business need from my boss. I have a very little knowledge in this field and already finished the CCNA books/videos. Currently reading the CVOICE book, my plan is the following : CVOICE Book/Videos Gateways and Gatekeepers book CIPT1-2 Book/Videos CUCM Book from Cisco Press Unitiy Book from Cisco Press Presence Book from Cisco press SIP Trunking Book I guess this will provide me some background and I ll need much more hands on labs ... ( I dont really like the videos for a solutions workbooks) Thanks for answering theses questions and please excuse me if this is a little bit off topic :) Nic -- Nicolas MICHEL CCIE #29410 No virus found in this message. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] ICT vs H225
Well, sometimes Datucha123 asks nice questions that's true. Sometimes he asks what are the default QoS settings without doing any show command on a switch or looking in the configuration guide ! To become a CCIE, you will need to learn how to get the information by yourself. Sometimes when you are stuck (and we all are sometimes ) you can ask help ... My 2 cp Good luck in your studies Datucha. Hope to see some nice questions from you and that you ll be able to answer mine :) 2011/12/20 brajesh kumaR brjku...@gmail.com It is not fair to say Datucha123 just putting question on this forum. He has well presented questions and come back with answer with lot new things which is not clear if you look at first sight. If Datucha123 continues to be on his way of such fast learning he will be very near to ccie. First of all, I know that the SRND talks about that, but that is more the theoretical one, whereas I need some real practical recommendation. So the first thing that I have tested for differences between ICT and H225 Trunks: All H323 connections are made between CUCM and CUCME, either directly or through gatekeeper or even CUBE. Direct connect to from CUCM to CUCME. ICT (Non-GK controlled) - Does not support Supplementary Services (like hold, transfer and etc) unless the MTP is checked. The CUCME Admin guide says to use this Trunk type to connect CUCM to CUCME and check the MTP on CUCM ICT Trunk. H323 Gateway - when this type of H323 connection is made to CUCME, the CUCM IP phone support Supplementary Service even without the MTP checked. Connect to CUCME through CUBE H323 Gateway- wait for far end H245 TCS Unchecked. When using this type of connetion, I have enabled the emptycapablility command on CUBE, so that CUCM IP Phones could support Supplementary Service without MTP. While when using MTP checked, it does not matter any more whether the emptycapablility is enabled or not, the Supp Service are operational on CUCM IP Phones. ICT (Non-GK controlled) - When using this type of connection to CUBE, CUCM IP Phones does not support Supplementary Services (even the emptycapablility is enabled on CUBE), until I check the MTP for this ICT. Connect to CUCME using Gatekeeper ICT (Gatekeeper-controlled) - I beleive, when using this type of connection, it has the same charasteristics as described already above for ICT Trunks. (Not Supp-service unless the MTP is used) H225 Trunk (Gatekeeper-controlled) - I beleive, when using this type of connection, it has the same charasteristics as described above for H323 Gateway Type. Based on that, can you please recommend, at least for the exam, which type of Connection has to be used for those kinds of H323 connectivity between CUCM and CUCME? ___ For more information regarding industry leading CCIE Lab training, please visit www.ipexpert.com Are you a CCNP or CCIE and looking for a job? Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] MGCP Codecs
Dude, 12 days ago you asked what are the default codec for I dont remember which feature, then you asked the default QoS settings without doing a show command... Now you ask for another default codec question and you are spamming the shit out of us I guess. Is it possible to do some research before asking here and flooding our mailbox ? I'm sorry I don't want to be a moron and I would help if I had the required knowledge but please Is it possible for you to do some effort ? I apologize if I am a little bit rough on this. I guess CCIE Voice is not all about knowing the default features... Thanks a lot for understanding and good luck in your studies. Nic 2011/12/15 datucha123 datucha123 datucha...@gmail.com Hello, What codecs does the MGCP Gateway supports by default? There is a command - *ccm-manager mgcp codec-all*, which sets all codec for CallManager. So MGCP does not support all codecs by default, or that command is already default one? ___ For more information regarding industry leading CCIE Lab training, please visit www.ipexpert.com Are you a CCNP or CCIE and looking for a job? [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUCM Hunt group visual notification timer
Hey there guys, Not sure if this fit into the CCIE lab exam blueprint but this got me interested. I'm running 8.6.(2a) and when we are playing with hunt groups, a certain group of people got only visual notification as soon as the call is forwarded to their extension. When someone pickup the call the notifications stays for a few moments (I think 10 to 20 secs, I'm not sure) Is there a way to stop the notification as soon as the call has been picked up by someone ? I've looked into the CUCM services and hunt group/line group/hunt pilot configuration and I couldn't find anything. Thanks for your answers. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] SRR
Did you check the show commands ? 2011/12/6 datucha123 datucha123 datucha...@gmail.com When we configure the SRR on a switch, does each ports has the following values by default: *srr shaped 25 0 0 0 * *srr shared 25 25 25 25* Even when I have not touched the Interface? For instance, I have configured auto qos voip on port fa 0/1, which will create SRR Buffer and other parameter globally, and will assing some SRR Shared and Shaped values for interface fa 0/1 for egress. But what about the other ports? Do they take automatically the shared and shaped values that I have already mentioned? ___ For more information regarding industry leading CCIE Lab training, please visit www.ipexpert.com Are you a CCNP or CCIE and looking for a job? Hey Michael. Thanks again for all the help provided with the CCIE RS when I was studying for it :) How far from the CCIE Voice are you now ? I m just starting, building a phones lab and then I'll be using IPX and some other vendors as well I guess I remember you were building a rack with friends, how far are you from there ? :) Seeing that this Mailing list is far more active than the RS one ! Cheers !! Nic 2011/12/2 Michael Miller kf4...@gmail.com Hello Nicholas, Its nice to see some familiar faces from the RS OSL boards. =) Congrats on passing the RS, and good luck on the Voice! I got CVOICE, CIPT1,CIPT2, Presence, CUCM+unity, Unity books. and then I ll start to read the SRND which looks awesome. I'm also building a lab to use some remote racks.
