My yard is slow but over the last four days some interesting birds.

Yellow-rumped Warblers Myrtles and Audubons males

Worm-eating Warbler new specie for my yard.
Harris' Sparrow
Harris' sparrow scratching in the flowerbeds near the feeder.
A welcom visitor. Have not had much except for two species of Chickadees and
the usuals in my yard.

The Blue Jays began making a fuss and there was a Northern Goshawk in the trees
near by. That cleared out the rest of the birds.

Friends who camped out at Crow last week were told by someone from the Forrest
Service that the squirrels were eating the birds and that they were trying to
control it.
Maybe that accounts for a lack of birds. However it seems the birds would come
in anyway.

In my post Saturday about our tip out to Crow Valley Rec. Center I mentioned a
restaurant we found on HWY 392. Correction HWY 14 just west of the turn off to
the Crow VRC.

of us hungry birders. It is clean, nicely redecorated, reasonably priced and
the hamburgers were good and thick. It is open from 11:00 to 2:00 PM Monday
thru Saturdays.

Got to Grandview Cemetery about 11:30AM today. Within about a half + hour I saw
the female White-winged Crossbill in a conifer in E section. Good look with my
scope. Wonderful warm sunny and calm day.

White-winged Crossbills, a life bird for both of us, in Ft. Collin's Grandview

Just at dusk tonight in with the White-crowned Sparrows a beautiful Fox Sparrow
appeared. Very red wings, tail and red streaks on breast. Hope its there in the
morning. Also had a White-throated Sparrow. The weather is changing.

Also had Kinglets, Orange-crowned, White-crowned Sparrows, Yellow-rumped
Warbler and Mountain Chickadees. Have not had a Chickadee in the yard for more
than a days visit for two years. I have the suet out to entice them to stay.

I suppose that some do get tired of seeing the reports of Sandhill Cranes, but
I for one do not. I lile knowing there are so many out there and where.
I had a Rock Wren in the yard today and continued bathing of Wilson's Warblers
and Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

than eat. He patrols
the area and the Calliope is so excited that it flies very close to me and
feeds two feet in front of me. Wish the season were longer.

Friday I had the first hummingbird of the season at my flowerbed. Saw it
yesterday and this morning. I think it is a female Calliope, but am not that
good at females and young male ID. Anyway a joy to watch. Friday it was very
hungry and just flitted from blossom to blossom.

My yard continues to amaze me
It has not been this good for many years.
Feel I have to spend the day in the yard or at the window or I will miss
something.

O street three swans flew over. Swainson's Hawks, and Red-tailed Hawks, Great
Blue Herons, Pelicans all flying to their roost for the night as the sun
slipped down in the west. Owl active too.
