Rich (and Dave),
I too have witnessed what would seem to be the same phenomenon maybe 3-4
years ago. I was driving in the same general area near Wetmore (possibly
Waterbarrel Road, possibly Siloam Road, I just don't remember) when I
noticed (audibly at first) that the road was literally covered
Interestingly, the best place to see this awesome bird when I was there was
up high on the "trail" the first few observers had made right along Highway
9. When I tromped out through the post holes down low to get slightly
closer, hoping for a better view, I found the bird was often blocked from
...in which case we could have not one but *two* 500th species! While
searching for 500a (Brown Booby), keep looking for 500b ;)

There was a singing male *GRACE'S WARBLER *at Pueblo Mountain Park today,

Folks,
Just a friendly reminder that in order to have a chance at becoming a state
record, a sighting would first need to be submitted to the CO Bird Records
Committee for consideration. I can't speak for the other committee members,
but I can say that I would certainly like to see this sighting
Folks,
This year, the Fountain Creek CBC kicked off the count season yesterday,
12/14/15, under sunny skies and mild temps. Hard to believe it looking
outside right now. I guess we hit the weather window, and it paid off. With
7 of 8 groups currently reporting, we've so far tallied 93 species,
I'll refrain from a lengthy opinion piece here, and will instead just
inform folks that the feds made a big decision today, deciding not to list
the Greater Sage-Grouse under the Endangered Species Act.

After work today I was sitting outside in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn

Mark Peterson and I ran a Big Day yesterday (4/27) through Pueblo, Teller,

Happy New Year!
I saw the continuing ACORN WOODPECKER (El Paso) this morning around 0930 in
the same location near Cheyenne Blvd and Willow Cir. It was very vocal and
flying around a lot, and was quite easy to find. It visited briefly a
feeder in the aforementioned yard with the Grinch

Birders,
Before anyone else goes out of their way looking for the Big Johnson tern, I
want to provide a definitive update. I also want to thank Mark Peterson
his...considerate post yesterday. In fact, he was being too kind. Mark
called me yesterday while he was looking at the bird to tell me he
, and could it possibly be the
same bird seen at Chico more than 2 weeks ago?
