wiki spam - urgent

2011-12-04 Thread Petr Vanek
Dear all, mainly old openmoko admins,

we have been dealing with the spam attacks on wiki.openmoko.org quite
successfully until now, but it s getting more and more
difficult. I have now cleared over 600 posts (big THANKS to everyone,
who keeps marking spams as for speedy deletion), which is about
weekly/biweekly spam dosage, but as every page requires three clicks,
you do the math for what muscle memory my fingers are developing :)

If there is anyone able to help from the admin side, suggestions have
been posted here. http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/User_talk:Vanous on
what could/should be implemented to eliminate spambots.

We also need more people to be granted erase permissions, i think it is
clear from the logs who contributes and is eligible.

If admins have no time, is there anyone with mediawiki experiences who
could implement the given suggestions easily (given they would need to
be granted some required access)? Please stand up.

thank you

Petr

from what has been said i think i remember that the gps chip is able to
run and record into it's internal memory while the device is suspended.
if this was possible, i can imagine that one could wake up the cpu,
fetch the collected data, store on uSD and go to sleep again.

still, the stand by time is not that much:

this is cool.

i think the idea is to be able to provide a data line to someone who
doesn't have prepaid gprs, i.e. if you have a free number calling etc.

ahoy,

the flexible PCB for BT does seem to be able to crack very easily,
mine broke about a year ago. One day, i would love to sit down and fix
it but as it is quite tedious job under a microscope i have been
procrastinating this as much as i could. Besides, it helped me to stop
worrying about the FSO BT support and i also stopped spamming people
on public transport with tux images via BT ;))

Apparently they do care very much, observe the packaging describing in
what countries the FM can be used. Besides it, there is not much on the
box from the back side :)

This feature is cool, especially RDS, although the current n900
included code has been changed to comply with specs and RDS scrolling
text doesn't work atm. Plus, you need to listed to "your station" in
order to see the text, so no arbitrary station and your RDS notify of
SMS etc...

Bluetooth HF with display and radio connection do supplement the FM
pretty well though - music, calls, but of course it's missing the RDS
part

What would be really cool is RDS reception of weather/traffic
announcements + applying it to your navi or at least POI, ie.
FoxtrotGPS to warn you about road conditions...

ffalarms custom command

2010-05-19 Thread Petr Vanek
i have been using ffalarms daily and really like it. thanks for it!

have one feature request - in reality, it makes a really great atd
frontend :), would it be possible to implement a feature
to choose whether alarm should be sound or not and also to run custom
command? As all the other structure is there and it makes little sense
to start a second project with very similar aim, this could nicely
provide a way to auto turn off our freerunner in the evening and do
wake in the morning... as well as run and manage automated events...

cheers

shr-unstable, right? python based FSO doesn't control gsm anymore,
fsogsmd is there for that and in my experience, DEBUG log level is nor
necessary for proper gsm function.

please check that you have fsogsmd installed, ogsmd has disabled=1 in
frameworkd.conf . this is in shr-u by default now.

thank you for the updated version, nice to have the ability to hide
the controls, if needed.

The "Page" item is hardly usable but i can imagine this is EFL issue
and nt yours... just reporting :), simply you cannot access the Reload,
Stop, Fullscreen... buttons.

What also gives me lot's of troubles is the URL dialog:

- after pressing cancel, the URL dialog will not show up, Ventura
  restart needed

- when editing url of already opened page, the url is present and
highlighted, which is really great, but even if you move cursor
around, the text stays highlighted so once you try to correct perhaps
a typo, the whole text is gone and needs to be rewritten. Pressing
Ćancel doesn't help due to the above issue.

I think it's falling nicely into place. bit by bit the big
python based framework is being replaced by smaller fast lightweight
vala based daemons, the latest reports of running fso-gsmd are very
encouraging - fast, small memory footprint... thanks to Mickey's effort.

Sidetracking a bit, but imho i am not so much looking to the "stable

Neil, in principle i agree with you. But the perfect world doesn't
exist and for me as the end user variety is good.

I think with the number of FR sold, multitude of projects is just
expected behavior. We can see the same thing on desktop and it is a
never ending dispute of quality versus quantity. We could hope there
would be one official distribution providing the functioning basics for
our FR but that didn't happen. So personal initiatives just take place.
Instead of seeing the FR platform disappearing, this is hopefully a
progression.

Hi,

pushing Ventura as default into it's images! Great!

Still some glitches exist, most of them had been discussed already,
some fixed, some in progress. Now, there is a Cofundos project to
stimulate development of a good browser for openmoko [1]. As you have
been spending time on coding this very functional envelope for
libwebkit, it would make sense to try to submit an offer...

the same here - couldn't reproduce. I have only 1 partition on my card

How about ~ by default but having it as a configurable string? And the

I hadn't realized until yesterday that the cert was the only thing
missing, all the rest is installed by default already. Yes, either
having it in the ipk or coordinate with the SHR folks who are

carefully considering, here is a list of what imho should be added/fixed
before it can happen:

- be able to handle downloads (start external wget process?) or allow

- fix combo selection widget (IIRC edje theming issue)

and low on the list:

hi,

some feedback here:

to access page reload i guess there is some issue with the menu so one
has to do the following taps:

menu->page->page->reload

other then then (in the scope of fixability, i.e. combo lists are not
working, but this is probably *libwebkit issue) it's working great.

finger scrolling is good, except one issue - if there is an image in the
way, it gets selected which slow the browser down a great deal. not sure
what to do about that...

working very well. i would almost tend to say "no more features to keep
it fast"

A few bugs:
Rotation issue has already been reported.
The show images doesn't work seems to me.
Also the Start Page is not taken into account yet.
Commandline url not accepted yet.

it would be wise to keep it this way. midory takes over 20 seconds to
launch on freerunner. as someone pointed - you often need that long to
search for something.

i think he wants to use the handsfree kit for a DECT phone. i would
suggest to get a proper DECT wired h-f kit, the wires will be much
sturdier then the fr h-f.

thanks for reopening the bug for the missing view. i am testing this
now and for some reason i can receive sms from other people, i can also
send sms and yes, can see them in the inbox (great, thank you) but when
sending sms to myself, never seem to receive (or perhaps just see?) the
message in inbox. this led me to the conclusion sent messages are not
saved because for a message from me to me i can see just one message
and not two. this is on shr-u, upgraded today.

just because you never had it does not mean it doesn't exist. i know
about the ogsmd->fsogsmd transition and am eagerly waiting for it,

strangely enough, i didn't have the GPRS issue for some time before

SHR FSO data only connection

2009-12-18 Thread Petr Vanek
i have a clone sim - two sims with the same number (official, this is
o2 service in eu). the sim registered latest on the network takes all
the calls and messages.

often i use this in the way that fr get's online via gprs and my other
phone receives the calls.

now, with recent shr-u, if i start with one sim in fr i get into
troubles when my second sim get's registered. gprs cannot connect,
calls cannot be made with om2008, i could in fact make data (gprs)
connection only and all would be smooth. I could even run gprs on both
phones with no issue. i have a feeling i could do this on shr during
summer, but now it's not possible.

i had 1024 fix done in the fall.

easy sum up:

- can i use fso based distro to make gprs connection only and not to
register for calls? (as for example umts dongles do?)

- is there a way to re-register on the network? (sometimes i can work
this around via making a call or scanning for operators...)

oh yes, agree, but this is complicated and has nothing to do with simple
screen rotation per application/user needs which i thought this thread
was about?

i am testing that interface now and it reports position in less then 2
seconds (which i consider very optimal for regular usage). what kind
of gestures do you mean or what do you mean by gestures?

so how does framework fit to this with it's orientation interface?

if the number of days is configurable (possible to set to "unlimited"),
this would be very good.

couldn't enjoy this one yet, from home i have to call from a gsm gate,
there is no signal inside my house... but will test this afternoon or
on the weekend,

thanks for all the great work and time! :)

good, good!

first start was somewhat slow, so i erased the .launcher db to start
fresh, although now i think it was framework still starting...

now it starts damn fast!

it feels very responding, after all data is loaded. (most delays seem
to be caused by waiting for the opimd data).

two minor issues:

1) in contacts, all the categories are listed twice (all empty), this
was also the same in .39.

2) opimd fields should probably be configurable
somewhat, now it doesn't show all my fields... or did i miss something?

phonelog now allows functional call deletion, great! (after launcher
restart, i can see some calls from 1.1.1970 again but i think the
opimd db got borked, i will erase it and start fresh).

thank you,

kind regards
Petr

i have been trying gry* lately and more less like it.

btw can you already change the background image in Illume settings? i
still get the "Enlightenment was unable to import the image due to
conversion errors" ?

Thank you for all the explanation. I think the 32bit engine is the
only to go with now. Perhaps the optimization is is already done,
maybe not.

@Bernd Prünster: you are already very good with this, it would be good
to see the difference, if not used already... mind to try the above in
