How much memory does the machine have?
From your description, it sounds as if just the USB
devices are affected, none of the other systems,
right?
Use the System Profiler and check that the USB
subsystem chain
is checking out at USB 2 speeds
A Mac Pro will run Windows XP, but you have to provide
the Windows XP from disc.
1 GB will be fine for most 95% of what is done on a
Mac.
2GB or more is recommended if you are running pro apps
such as Aperture, Shake, or Motion. After Effects or
Photoshop will gobble up as much memory as you
Harbor Freight Tools.
