Officials even finally admitted that they really do use black helicopters. A full-time Army source has informed WorldNetDaily that 100 or more regular Army, National Guard and Army Reserve troops left from California Tuesday to join Operation Last Dance in Texas. They will combine with the 50 to 60 who have already been actively engaged in conducting mock raids in Texas towns. The elite group of 100 is trained to fight terrorists in an urban environment. They have arrived at Corpus Christi Naval Station and Fort Sam Houston for the final days of the training exercise that has caused so much controversy. Last Dance began Feb. 8 in Kingsville, Texas, and is expected to end Feb. 20, perhaps sooner. Live fire has been used in Kingsville where extensive damage was caused to two buildings and a telephone pole. Residents there are still getting over the shock and fear caused by the fake attack that looked and sounded very real. Other exercises in towns around Kingsville and Corpus Christi have also caused concern by residents and elected officials. Officials in Port Aransas, a small town outside Corpus Christi objected heavily when Night Stalkers brought their black helicopters to town without prior approval. They have also been seen in Austin, Annaville, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Calallen. The Corpus Christi City Council, home of the Corpus Christi Naval Station, voted to give Operation Last Dance a symbolic pat on the back. Two soldiers gave them a presentation to explain what was being done. Similar presentations have not been given in other communities. The two soldiers would not give their real names "for security reasons." They called themselves Zumwalt and Joseph and discussed the safety of their exercises. Zumwalt confirmed that the helicopters being used for the training exercises are really painted black. Numerous military and former military have contacted WorldNetDaily to correct earlier reports of black helicopter sightings. They claimed that the helicopters are dark olive drab, not black. "We paint them black so that the bad guys can't see us coming. I don't know what 'X-Files' episode started the paranoia about the black helicopters. Those are American pilots with American soldiers who love this country in those helicopters," said Zumwalt. He said he would prefer to paint them red, white, and blue so local citizens would know they are the good guys and not worry. The training missions are as dangerous as if they were fighting a real enemy, and the soldiers confirmed to the City Council that they often use live ammunition and explosives during such exercises. "Our guys have been hurt and even killed during these types of exercises. But we have never had any significant civilian injuries," admitted Joseph. Zumwalt told the council to expect one more exercise in Corpus Christi before Operation Last Dance comes to an end. An Army source told WorldNetDaily to expect that event to be bigger and more dramatic than anything seen so far. U.S. Army Special Operations Command in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, planned and conducted Operation Last Dance after first obtaining permission from some cities they have been to, but not others. Only the Corpus Christi police chief and the city manager knew in advance in that city. Zumwalt and Joseph complained about demands from other cities for notice and approval. They said safety would be compromised if people knew they were coming. They pointed out that a dangerous situation occurred when 200 people in an undisclosed location gathered on a factory rooftop to watch them. The City Council offered a vote of thanks to the soldiers. Zumwalt and Joseph said all they could offer for the use of Corpus Christi was their appreciation. They acknowledge that the city was at risk because of the trai ning exercise, but they said they could not do anything about that. Operation Last Dance has already become a political issue for this year's local elections. Vic Vreeland, council candidate in Austin, is mounting a campaign based on his desire to fight such use of the city in the future. No one else was hurt in the fatal explosion but four players and three officials at the Moscow Candidate Masters' Chess Championships were sprayed with blood and brain matter when Nikolai Titov's head suddenly blew apart. Experts say he suffered from a condition called Hyper-Cerebral Electrosis or HCE. "He was deep in concentration with his eyes focused on the board," says Titov's opponent, Vladimir Dobrynin. "All of a sudden his hands flew to his temples and he screamed in pain. Everyone looked up from their games, startled by the noise. Then, as if someone had put a bomb in his cranium, his head popped like a firecracker." Incredibly, Titiov's is not the first case in which a person's head has spontaneously exploded. Five people are known to have died of HCE in the last 25 years. The most recent death occurred just three years ago in 1991, when European psychic Barbara Nicole's skull burst. Miss Nicole's story was reported by newspapers worldwide, including WWN. "HCE is an extremely rare physical imbalance," said Dr. Anatoly Martinenko, famed neurologist and expert on the human brain who did the autopsy on the brilliant chess expert. "It is a condition in which the circuits of the brain become overloaded by the body's own electricity. The explosions happen during periods of intense mental activity when lots of current is surging through the brain. Victims are highly intelligent people with great powers of concentration. Both Miss Nicole and Mr. Titov were intense people who tended to keep those cerebral circuits overloaded. In a way it could be said they were literally too smart for their own good." Although Dr. Martinenko says there are probably many undiagnosed cases, he hastens to add that very few people will die from HCE. "Most people who have it will never know. At this point, medical science still doesn't know much about HCE. And since fatalities are so rare it will probably be years before research money becomes available." In the meantime, the doctor urges people to take it easy and not think too hard for long periods of time. "Take frequent relaxation breaks when you're doing things that take lots of mental focus," he recommends. Although HCE is very rare, it can kill. Dr. Martinenko says knowing you have the condition can greatly improve your odds of surviving it. A "yes" answer to any three of the following seven questions could mean that you have HCE: 1.Does your head sometimes ache when you think too hard? (Head pain can indicate overloaded brain circuits.) 2.Do you ever hear a faint ringing or humming sound in your ears? (It could be the sound of electricity in the skull cavity.) 3.Do you sometimes find yourself unable to get a thought out of your head? (This is a possible sign of too much electrical activity in the cerebral cortex.) 4.Do you spend more than five hours a day reading, balancing your checkbook, or other thoughtful activity? (A common symptom of HCE is a tendency to over-use the brain.) 5.When you get angry or frustrated do you feel pressure in your temples? (Friends of people who died of HCE say the victims often complained of head pressure in times of strong emotion.) 6.Do you ever overeat on ice cream, doughnuts and other sweets? (A craving for sugar is typical of people with too much electrical pressure in the cranium.) 7.Do you tend to analyze yourself too much? A few months ago, my husband and I were breakfasting at a small but well known local restaurant. The conversation at the next table kept us attentive but silent for the better part of the meal. We probably didn't taste much. It seemed that a local somebody was breakfasting with an individual (in very expensive "casual" and talking about his work which seemed to be recruiting doctors for an HMO. I can't say we understood everything or even got every word, but let's say they were speaking of doctors (particularly surgeons) as commodities that could be used up (burned out was the phrase used) and replaced as needed. I don't think I've ever heard any workers of any ilk spoken of so disparagingly. I think the owner of the restaurant where we were eating has a more considerate view of the waitresses who work there. This morning's paper has an article, "Doctors move to unionize" by Associated Press writer Laura Meckler which I think says it all. This sheath is made up of fat and necessary for nerve function. Guillain-Barre Syndrome is the most common form of demyelinating polyneuropathy. The cause is unknown, but it appears that it is autoimmune, where the body's immune system attacks itself. It progresses more rapidly than most neuropathies. The symptoms are that weakness in the legs, then the arms, is more prominent than the sensory symptoms. The maximum degree of weakness is reached in 2-3 weeks. Steroids worsen the prognosis and something called plasmapheresis is useful and helps recovery. Patients need to be monitored for respiratory distress. They need to take in lots of fluids and should have their electrolytes (Sodium, Potassium) monitored as well.Most patients recover, but about 30% still have residual weakness after 3 years. 10% relapse. 5% die. Organophosphate poisoning and botulism should be ruled out, since they can be confused with GBS. Would you believe that a favorite crinkle cut, frozen potato has Canola oil as a ingredient? Now knowing that fats are crucial for the body and that even the brain has a large percentage of fat in it, what would happen, if you were to take out all the fat that the body is capable of utilizing, or at least utilizing easily? Here in the USA (it seems that) our primary source of fat for developing children is milk. Since the milk has BGH which means the cattle have required more antibiotics - those could well be in the milk too. What could this mean? Someone saying that we can not attack BGH because parents might take their children off of milk and - IF you do that you need to have information about the detrimental ways that oils and fats are processed. Just look at cottonseed oil, or even soybean oil which is often processed with solvents. Where could that lead to - the farmer! Who is trying to own the seed for cotton, soy, and many other things? Monsanto. Yet, consider what this might lead to IF this continues at the current rate. Will anyone trust naturally grown food or meat? Would we be talked into cloning all our meat? Cloning all our food? Take a look at all the things that are already on my page, I have many more to add, I am hearing of more daily and many more could be under authorization - even at this date. Yet, would they keep all these items out of the cloned food and meat or just find more to add. Recently there was a go ahead to spray crops with MSG. I do not know if it was implemented but would this mean that only food sprayed with MSG would be appealing to children? MSG is a excitotoxin, so would the children basically go into withdraw if they do not get it? Also IF we are ever able to go from cloning to replicating. I am more than willing to give Clinton 100% credit for his skills at manipulation, and fooling people, just look at you Samantha you appear to be a politically aware and very intelligent person and yet you refuse to see what is clearly before your eyes that he is just like al the rest. The unexpected volume of legal tumult inspired by the tearing down of trade barriers has given fresh ammunition to critics who have long portrayed international trade deals as sacrificing local political control on the altar of unbridled capitalism. "As concerned as we were, we underestimated the potential power grab and damage potential to the fundamentals of governance," said Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen's Global Trade Watch, a Washington-based advocacy group. U.S. suspicion of foreign influence is hardly new, of course: The Founding Fathers used fear of economic colonialism as a rallying cry, and it's always been easy to stir up protectionist sentiment or criticism of, say, the United Nations. Congress saw threats to sovereignty when it adopted the hotly debated WTO trade agreement in 1994, and sought to limit the damage by specifying that only the U.S. government--and not foreigners or private firms--could use U.S. courts to enforce WTO agreements. As trade has exploded in the '90s, however, the traditional notions of nation-states and economic sovereignty are increasingly challenged by a maze of international rules and regulatory bodies. U.S. and Canadian critics are particularly worried about an obscure provision of the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, that gives foreign investors a powerful weapon to attack laws they deem discriminatory, particularly in the environmental and health safety arenas. Last fall, the U.S.-based Ethyl Corp. successfully used NAFTA to overturn a Canadian ban on the import of a controversial Ethyl gasoline additive, MMT, on grounds that the ban discriminated against a foreign company. Funeral home operators, hazardous-waste management firms and others have filed similar complaints challenging Canadian and Mexican environmental regulations and even the courts of Mississippi. Canada Wants Part of NAFTA Reconsidered Canada, since hit with three more NAFTA cases, decries the complaints as an attack on its sovereign rights. It has now asked the U.S. and Mexican governments to reconsider the part of NAFTA that caused the problem--an investor protection provision known as Chapter 11. That review is now underway. But NAFTA isn't the only worry. The 4-year-old World Trade Organization, while opening up lucrative export opportunities for U.S. telecommunication firms, toy makers and chemical manufacturers, has also created new legal levers that can be used to challenge federal, state and local laws. To date, Uncle Sam has been the biggest beneficiary of the WTO system, racking up the most successful complaints against foreign trading partners. After years of fruitless bilateral talks, the U.S. used the WTO dispute settlement system to attack the European Union's ban on hormone-treated beef and Japan's onerous fumigation process for imported fruit, arguing that those health regulations were thinly disguised protectionist barriers. It won both cases, though the EU is still balking at lifting its beef hormone ban. The U.S. has also been on the receiving end of a few successful WTO complaints, including challenges to a toughened U.S. environmental standard for gasoline and a ban on tuna imported from countries that fail to use dolphin-safe fishing techniques. As such challenges gain momentum, the United States increasingly finds itself on the defensive, caught between obligations to its trading partners and corporations and the concerns of state and local authorities and citizen groups. Thus, even trade advocates are now taking these concerns more seriously. After all, shouldn't the democratically elected leaders of Canada--or Mexico or the United States or anywhere else--be free to

The Commerce Department claimed that records detailing meetings between COSTIND Army officers and Commerce officials did not exist. Much like Mrs. Clinton's claim that "Whitewater" billing records did not exist, the Commerce claims turned out to be false. The Commerce Dept. has already returned a vast array of documented evidence on COSTIND. Some of the phantom records are on the internet, complete with signatures of the Clinton officials involved. Federal Judge Payne viewed the pile of real documents presented by this reporter, along with the words "Dear Ron" plastered all over them, and exploded. The Judge found the lame defense presented by the Clinton administration to be an insult. The Commerce Dept. lawyer was forced to admit that "thirteen" records responsive to the Freedom of Information Request on COSTIND have been found. Judge Payne ordered that all documents, including those withheld for national security, be reviewed by the Court to ensure that none are being illegally withheld. President Clinton has offered U.S. trade favors to China at every turn, claiming the communist state will become less of a monster. The logic is that if China is fat and happy on western consumer goods it will no longer be a nationalistic, radical, nation looking to even age its old border disputes. Instead, the Chinese Army bought high tech military items and sold goods made by cheap slave labor in massive quantities to American merchants eager for a quick buck. The trade imbalance between America and China reflects the communist tax and regulation war against imported U.S. goods. The Chinese Army is converting the massive trade surplus with America into an ambitious arms build up to dominate the twenty first century. Our cash for goods is fueling the next arms race. In addition, the communist state has grown less tolerant of freedom. The Chinese Communist party is using advanced U.S. "law enforcement" technology to round up dissidents at a higher rate than during the Tiananmen Square massacre. The monster is growing stronger and much more evil, fed by mounds of cash from the west. President Reagan once had a similar problem with the former Soviet Union. Many in the Republican party pressed for open trade and a no questions asked policy with the Soviet Union. They cited the unrestricted actions of trading partners in securing lucrative deals behind the Iron Curtain. The strict Soviet empire, they argued, would crumble under an onslaught of western goods. Instead, Reagan picked the hard line, arming America like no President had done before, banning high-tech exports, and electing to negotiate more important things than trade. Things that appear to be unknown to this administration, such as human rights and arms control. The Clinton administration has no major treaty signed with China for strategic arms. While we are bound by SALT and the ABM treaties with the Soviet Union, a nation that no longer exists, China has no such restraints. The fact that Clinton has no Chinese nuclear arms treaty is clear evidence of his lacking in history's embrace of peacemakers. Nor is there any evidence that the PRC would adhere to treaties even if signed. In fact, according to documents obtained using the Freedom of Information Act, the Clinton administration has openly rewarded Chinese misdeeds and treaty violations. In 1998, Chinese officials denied America the right to inspect U.S. built super-computers exported for a so-called "academic" venture at Xian University. The denial was an open violation of a 1983 U.S./Sino trade treaty. The Clinton administration responded to the violation by allowing the export of more ultra-fast computers without inspection, violating U.S. trade restriction laws passed by Congress. Xian University, of course, is a major PLA weapon testing and development site. There is worse news. According to the General Accounting Office (GAO), the Clinton Administration allowed super-computers to be exported directly to Russian and Chinese nuclear laboratories. The GAO also noted that the super-computer exports took place with no evaluation of the impact on Chinese nuclear weapons development, missile design, genetic or biological weapons research or even the impact on national security by breaking our secret codes. Russian Bank Mired in Controversy By GREG MYRE MOSCOW (AP) -- In a murky saga, Russia's Central Bank secretly routed billions of dollars through a British offshore account for several years and never bothered to tell anyone. The mystery surrounding the Central Bank's handling of Russia's scarce currency reserves is still unfolding, and no wrongdoing has been proven since the country's top prosecutor made the bombshell revelation a month ago, then vanished from public life. At a minimum, the episode is a major embarrassment for a government that has been accused of widespread corruption for years and is desperately seeking billions of dollars in foreign loans to pull the economy out of recession. The Central Bank has insisted there was no wrongdoing and all the money was returned -- ``with interest, and to the last kopeck,'' the Central Bank's Deputy Chairman Oleg Mozhaiskov said recently, without providing figures. However, one parliament member, Nikolai Gonchar, has gone as far as to accuse top Central Bank officials of siphoning off investment profits from the offshore account. ``Russia created a system under which the high-ranking financial elite of the country received personal income by making the country indebted,'' Gonchar told a news conference last week. The Central Bank's terse explanations -- and a lack of details about how much money or interest was involved -- have raised more questions than they answered. More importantly, the country is unlikely to get loans from the International Monetary Fund or foreign banks until the clouds clear. According to the Central Bank, it shipped money from 1993-97 to the small, obscure Financial Management Co., or FIMACO, based in Britain's Channel Islands but effectively under Central Bank control. It says it channeled the money through FIMACO -- and kept it secret -- because it feared Russia could default on debts and international creditors would be looking to seize the country's assets. Central Bank officials insist there was never more than $1.4 billion in the account at any one time, and that FIMACO received just $1.7 million for managing the money for several years, a sum well below usual market rates. The operation was analogous to Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan sending large sums of the U.S. Treasury's money to a secret account on a Caribbean island, and afterward providing no explanation about the size of the investment profits -- or where they went. Russia's foreign reserves currently stand at $11.5 billion, a small sum for a country of Russia's size, and not enough to handle large foreign debts that are falling due this year. Central Bank Chairman Viktor Gerashchenko has not spoken out on the controversy and the statements by his deputies strike many as incomplete at best. The Central Bank's secret account was so well hidden that even the most senior Russian government officials were not told about it. ``I had heard about irregularities in the Central Bank, but no information was given to the government,'' said Yegor Gaidar, who briefly served as prime minister in 1992, when the FIMACO account was open, though not yet in active use. Gaidar, a free-market liberal who is now a harsh government critic, said the Central Bank operation may have been perfectly legal. But, he added, ``it was strange. A serious investigation is needed.'' Prosecutor General Yuri Skuratov made the FIMACO operation public a month ago in a letter to parliament, alleging that a total of $50 billion passed through the account before it was closed two years ago. Skuratov resigned a day after his announcement, citing heart problems, and has vanished from public view. Details have been trickling out slowly, and the Russian media and public, perhaps inured after years of scandals and corruption allegations, seems little moved. Still, Gonchar, the parliament member, has pressed ahead and claimed Friday he had evidence of wrongdoing. He said FIMACO invested $143 million in Russian government treasury bills in 1996 when interest rates were sky-high. The investment earned a return of $38.9 million. But Gonchar said he can find no information showing the profit was returned to government coffers, and believes it was stolen. ``The Central Bank issued a special regulation that allowed it not to show these amounts on its balance sheets. They were recorded on special accounts'' that have not been made public, he said. Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov has vowed to crack down on endemic corruption that has bedeviled Russia's attempts to develop a working market economy. Yet he has not signaled any plans to investigate the Central Bank. ``If the government has really started a war on corruption, it should have looked first of all at itself,'' said Grigory Yavlinsky, a leading liberal member of parliament. ``It always looks somewhere on the periphery, far from itself.''

The western world cash operating cost of producing gold fell 17 per cent to an average of US$193 an ounce in 1998, according to a report by the AME Mineral Economics, a Sydney-based commodities research and consulting group. Gold prices, meanwhile, fell from $415 an ounce in early 1996 to the current $285 level. AME's study found that, in real terms, average Australian gold mining cash costs fell to US$204 an ounce, $43 less than average 1997 costs, South Africa's average cash costs fell by $52 an ounce to $254, US gold cash costs fell $40 to $163 and Canadian costs fell $11 to US$200. The primary factor driving US dollar-denominated costs lower in Australia, South Africa and Canada was their weak domestic currencies and the currency weakness also boosted gold prices in local currency terms. While gold prices in US dollar terms fell to 18-year lows of US$272 an ounce late last year, gold in Australian dollar terms actually rallied through A$500 an ounce to its highest level in two years last October. South African and Canadian producers experienced similar local currency-denominated price increases. This was one reason why the slump in US dollar gold prices has not induced a corresponding reduction in supply. AME forecast that western world gold supply will actually increase by 40 tonnes this year, rather than decline in response to the collapse in US dollar gold prices. Lower costs also suggested that, even though gold was trading just above its lowest level for 18 years, it was still not necessarily underpriced, said AME. It estimated the 90 percentile line - the level at which 90 per cent of gold producers break even - had fallen from $344 an ounce in 1997 to $280 last year. This indicated that the current prices below US$300 an ounce gold prices were substantiated by actual mine costs and were not necessarily influenced by concerns of market oversupply from central bank sales and producer forward-selling, said AME. Last Friday, when the Australian dollar gold price rallied sharply through the A$460 level on the back of the weaker Australian dollar, dealers reported substantial Australian gold producer forward-selling. Also "there has been a lot of call option selling by producers", said Simon Klimt, head of commodities for Westpac Bank in Sydney. Meanwhile, the outlook for the gold price, based on forecast production costs, remains dismal. AME forecast the 90 percentile line will fall to $258 an ounce in 2002. With the declining spot price of gold, many producers are now more dependent upon the premium received (the contango) by selling gold forward, said AME. Australian gold producers have embraced the benefits of forward-selling gold. Australia's next three years' gold production has already been sold forward at prices above A$600 an ounce, significantly above current price levels of A$460. economics at Loyola College, had this letter appear in today's Wall Street
Journal (March 2, 1999):
Fatal Flaws in Social Security Plan
There are two fatal flaws in the arguments by Lawrence Summers and Janet
Yellen in favor of subsidizing Social Security with general tax revenues
("Saving the Surplus Will Protect Retirees," editorial page, Feb. 18). The
first is the notion that government forecasters (or any forecasters for that
matter) are capable of predicting the federal budget 15 years in the future
("the federal government will accumulate more than $4.5 trillion in
surpluses over the next 15 years"). Who do they think they're kidding?
Claims by governmental planners to possess such clairvoyant powers was
appropriately labeled a "fatal conceit" by Nobel laureate Friedrich Hayek
and should not be taken seriously by anyone.
The second fatal flaw is the preposterous assertion that politicians granted
the power to allocate hundreds of billions of dollars in private capital
will not politicize the allocation of capital. Their "proof" of this is that
the administration, led by the most untrustworthy president in American
history, "has worked hard to build a framework that would isolate ...
equities from political pressures." But politicians cannot be "isolated from
political pressures" any more than daylight can be isolated from the sun. As
former U.S. Sen. William Proxmire (D., Wis.) stated during a 1983 Senate
debate over federal industrial policy, if government is given the authority
to allocate capital, "Money will go where the political power is ... It will
go where the union power is mobilized. It will go where the campaign
contributors want it to go. It will go where the mayors and governors as
well as congressmen and senators have the power to push it. Anyone who
thinks government funds will be allocated ... according to merit has not
lived or served in Washington very long."
Mr. Summers and Ms. Yellen did not help their own cause by opening their
article with a blatant falsehood -- that the president has "charted a course
of fiscal responsibility and economic prosperity over the past six years."
In fact, just three years ago the Clinton budget contained deficits in
excess of $200 billion and the president was proposing balancing the budget
over a 10-year period -- long after he would have left office. It was only
after his own budget was rejected by the U.S. Senate 100 to 0 that the
president switched his position, accepted a balanced-budget deal, and then
shamelessly took credit for "balancing the budget." Moreover, we are in the
midst of a 15-year recovery, not the six years that the authors claim.

[CTRL] Debunker Does Decent Job (fwd)
-Caveat Lector- DEBUNKER DOES DECENT JOB (CNNS, 03/02/99) -- Author William Hanchett, in his book, "The Lincoln Murder Conspiracies" (Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 1983. ISBN: 0-252-01046-9), offers a scholarly and somewhat fair rebuttal to the panoply of books and articles which claim a high-level conspiracy behind the death of Abraham Lincoln. Unlike most supposed debunkers of conspiracy theories (e.g. Gerald Posner on JFK; *60 Minutes* on Vince Foster), Hanchett's attempts to refute various Lincoln conspiracy ideas are well argued (for the most part) and show that Hanchett has done his homework on the subject before writing about it. This editor, although grateful to Hanchett for separating fact from fiction (in some cases), remains unconvinced that John Wilkes Booth and a limited number of Booth associates were alone the perpetrators of the April 14, 1865 tragedy. What Hanchett does show convincingly is that, in the words of Robert Todd Lincoln, his father's death has been "a peg on which to hang many things." Unscrupulous persons, having their personal politics to peddle, have used the Lincoln assassination for their own agendas. But which are the unscrupulous persons? The various claims as to who was really behind Lincoln's murder are a hall of mirrors, in which only one image can possibly be real. Did the Catholics cause Lincoln's death? Was it the Rothschilds? Was it the Confederacy? Did "Copperheads" play a role? Or were "Radical Republicans," members of Lincoln's own party, behind the assassination? One good thing about Hanchett's book is, as stated, that he has done his homework on the subject. This means that Hanchett's bibliography is a gold mine of references, some previously unknown to this editor. For example: ** (Book) "Rome's Responsibility for the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln," by Thomas M. Harris. (Harris, a Union Brigadier General, belonged to the 1865 military commission presiding over the trial of Booth's co-conspirators.) ** (Book) "Crimes of the Civil War," by Henry Clay Dean. (Says that Lincoln was a tyrant who threatened the U.S. Constitution and that Booth was a hero.) ** (Book) "The Man Who Killed Lincoln," by Philip Van Doren Stern. (Claims that Booth hated his father and transfered that rage onto Lincoln.) ** (Book) "Washington in the Lap of Rome," by Justin D. Fulton. (Catholic Churchhassuppresseddetails of Lincoln assassination.) ** (Book) "An Inquiry Into the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln," by Emmett McLoughlin. (Catholic Church a "silent partner" in assassination of Lincoln.) ** (Book) "This One Mad Act," by Izola Forrester. (Subtitled, "The Unknown Story of John Wilkes Booth and his Family." Author claims to be Booth's grand-daughter.) ** (Book) "The Reincarnation of John Wilkes Booth," by Dell Leonardi. (Hypnotist regresses farm boy in 1970s; learns he was Booth in past life; "Booth" tells all.) Debunker Hanchett misses in some areas, for example he does not convincingly explain the oddity of John Parker, Lincoln's only bodyguard on the fatal evening. Parker left his post. Hardliner Edwin Stanton, secretary of war, who'd sanctioned harsh punishment of Union sentries who'd fallen asleep on guard duty, did not punish Parker at all. Hanchett misses on the evidence that Booth did not die at Garrett's farm: Hanchett gives incidental mention to the claim, lumping it in with various locales in which the surviving Booth is said to have quietly lived out his remaining days. In his excellent bibliography, Hanchett does include Finis Bates convincing book, "Escape and Suicide of John Wilkes Booth." But, like for example with the credible Debra von Trapp's appearance on NBC's "Dateline," he throws in assorted odd claims with Finis Bates' solid evidence, thereby invoking "lunacy by association." In other areas, Hanchett's obvious expertise on the subject matter leaves the amateur in disarray. So, for example, Hanchett casts doubt on books and articles by the late Otto Eisenschiml, conveniently at a time when the brilliant Eisenschmil is no longer available to challenge Hanchett's assertions. The overall background atmosphere, as it existed during the American Civil War, is a worthwhile element in Hanchett's book. He actually uses the term "Lincoln haters" to describe widespread, disaffected elements of the U.S. population, North and South. In this a parallel exists with our own times, filled with so-called "Clinton haters." In fact, Hanchett's background atmosphere is uncanny, suggesting that 1990s America itself has got its own bubbling civil war, not yet extremely violent, yet passionate just the same. Anyway, in this engraving which was done by Hogarth (after his death actually, but ws the authorized version) we find Lord Sandwich, Dashwood, Thomas DeGrey, etc., forming the pyramid stance.drinking the wine, and in the background is a statue of the many breasted Diana, as I recall - or the statue of Charity. They are drinking themselves drunk and DeGray, is passed out with wine dripping into his mouth. They had vowed not to leave the cellar (called Charity in the Cellar) until they had drug this whole hogs head of wine. Benjamin Franklin then of course, came back to the US, where he ws alleged to have chased women also, as did the Hells Fire Club in particular. However Hogarth was responsible for the first copyright act; and Franklin in the Constitution you may see his hand.it protected the arts and sciences, and freedom of speech, etc. So patents and copyrights stemmed from this and so did bad actors and acting. Here we come to John Wilkes Booth, whom from the mother, descended from John Wilkes who was a member of the Hells Fire Club, also known as the Monks of Mehedemn or something like that I forget. John Wilkes was a rather Oscar Wilde replica of the state ment "he talks like a liberal and eats with the tories"but he had banking interestshe also was involved in pornography, and got caught up; he did stop a mob that he himself had raised, from robbing the Bank of England. So you see, the Illumanti did have a connection to the murder of Lincoln; Aaron Burr, also killed Alexander Hamilton over the Federal Reserve System it was once said.and it is only the money always, behind the plot. So here we have the Illuminati in a sense who assisted in writing the Constitution. The Old hells fire club broke up over the Revolution; Hogarth remained loyal to the crown, and stuck to his masonic virtues. Franklin came back to America and was accused of being a Brittish spy. And Franklin and others controlled the newspapers, and there were a lot of people who did not vote for We The People, including my family, who were English government officials, some of whom took it on the lam to Canada after the Revolution. Frankly, Aaron Burr was villified for getting into a gentleman's duel; Jefferson Davis was Catholic, and our first Catholic President of the United Sttes of the Confederacy. Vol. 15, No. 11 -- March 22, 1999 www.insightmag.com The Evil Twins By Stephen Goode and Eli Lehrer Under the banner of Marxism, Josef Stalin in Russia and Mao Tse-tung in China slaughtered many millions in an attempt socially to engineer the perfect society. There can be no doubt about it. If a contest were held to determine the era that has experienced the world's cruelest and most ruthless tyrants, the 20th century would win hands down. Adolf Hitler's slaughter of more than 6 million Jews, gypsies, gays, political opponents and others alone makes our century rank among the bloodiest on record. But Hitler's misdeeds, horrendous as they were, are only part of the picture of 20th-century horrors -- a picture that is vastly enlarged by the atrocities of two other men, each of whose victims far outnumber those of Hitler and whose pernicious influence on our century outweighs even that of the Nazi dictator. As bad as he was, Hitler ruled Germany for only 12 years. Josef Stalin, whose victims number in the tens of millions, was top man in the Soviet Union for a quarter-century. Mao Tse-tung, who ruled Communist China with an iron fist and reckless will for 27 years, left behind a tally of dead that is greater even than Stalin's. "Hitler is really a distant third when you compare these three horrible dictators of the 20th century," Yeshiva University history professor Albert Marrin tells Insight. Marrin, who has written biographies of all three tyrants, ranks Mao and Stalin as equals in perfidy: "If people are more tolerant about Mao," he says, "it's just ignorance. There's absolutely nothing to it. People know less about Mao. He was a pathological killer, no better than Stalin." How many died at the hands of Stalin and Mao? No one knows for certain -- times were too chaotic; mass murderers don't always keep meticulous records -- but estimates abound. A census taken in the USSR in January 1937, for example, was suppressed and its figures never made public until 1989, during the Soviet Union's last years. What the suppressed 1937 census revealed was a deficit of 15 million to 16 million people -- victims of Stalin's policies during the first decade of his coming to power. (Stalin characteristically announced publicly that the census had been sabotaged by his opponents. Secretly, he had those "responsible" for the "sabotage" put to death.) The 15 million or 16 million "missing" Soviet citizens only are a portion of those who suffered under Stalin, however. Historians now know that on Dec. 12, 1937, alone, Stalin and his deputy, Vyacheslav Molotov, approved the executions of 3,167 men and women; after they were done, the duo went off to the movies. And that slaughter was only a small salvo in what was to be known later as the Great Terror, during which millions of Soviet citizens were murdered or thrown into concentration camps (or both) in the Far North or Siberia -- and a terror that Stalin ordered directed at society as a whole to instill fear in all his subjects precisely by the irrationality and injustice of the killings and imprisonments. The figures for China under Mao are equally staggering. "In 1958-60 some 20 million to 30 million people lost their lives through malnutrition and famine because of the policies imposed upon them by the Chinese Communist Party," write historians John King Fairbank and Merle Goldman in the opening of their chapter on Mao Tse-tung's "Great Leap Forward," in their book China: A New History, published in 1998. Twenty million to 30 million is an enormous figure, but even that is not the final tally on Mao's victims: The same authors estimate that the victims of the Cultural Revolution undertaken by the Red Guards (bands of teenagers acting at Mao's instigation) in the mid-1960s "now hover around a million, of whom a considerable number did not survive." And if we go back even earlier, to 1949-51, where figures are very sketchy, we find historians estimating the death toll as a result of Mao's earliest policies during his first two years as dictator to range from lows of 1 million to 3 million to as high as 15 million. Why all this slaughter? Part of the reason can be found in Marxism. "Both men were ideologues," says Marrin. Both men (as far as we can tell) were convinced -- as genuine Marxists must be -- that they were in possession of all the knowledge necessary to form the perfect society. All that was lacking was the will -- what Danton called the audacity -- to create that society. Following Marx, Stalin and Mao saw society as something that could be molded and perfected by men and women willing to take the steps necessary to do that molding and perfecting, whatever those steps might be --slaughtering whole classes of people regarded as enemies of the revolution, for example -- and not shying from any task of social engineering, as long as it was done in the name of the revolution. Edgar Hoover and the FBI maintained a detailed dossier on Adolf Hitler and closely investigated any report that indicated he still was alive. Adolf Hitler lives -- in cyberspace, that is, where 734 pages of Hitler's raw FBI file can be downloaded from the Internet. The files contain speeches, rare photographs, old newspaper clippings, details about discovery of the Führer's personal notes and chinaware and assassination plots -- as well as an extensive 11-year probe into the possibility that Hitler faked his own death with a bogus suicide in 1945. At times these files read like a supermarket tabloid, with outrageous conspiracy theories that remind readers that FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover was a suspicious man. At other times, the files reveal how serious the FBI considered allegations that one of this century's most evil despots may have escaped his Berlin bunker. The records begin with President Franklin Roosevelt becoming enraged upon learning of a 1933 New York conspiracy to kill Hitler and continue into the fifties with a Western Union telegram declaring, "I have positive proof that Hitler is living." There are seven volumes of these records. A photographic exhibit of Hitler in uniform dominates the final volume. Scattered throughout are clippings from newspapers. The last story is a 1956 article about the plans of Hitler's sister, Paula Wolf, to write a book about her brother to "set some facts straight" as soon as a Munich court declares her brother dead. "The readers will forgive me," she says, "if I abstain from depicting my brother at all costs as a wicked character just for the sake of profit." An accompanying Associated Press article noted boldly, "He Is Officially Alive 'Til Court Issues Certificate." As for that Western Union tipster, the FBI never tracked down the sender nor did it ever identify the members of the 1933 conspiracy plot to kill Hitler. But that plot sure kept Hoover's G-men busy. The file reveals that the plot began when the German Embassy asked the State Department to initiate an investigation based upon a letter signed by a "Daniel Stern," which said that unless FDR rebuked Hitler for his outrages against Jews, then "I notify you that I shall go to Germany and assassinate Hitler." The State Department handed off the probe to the FBI, which never found Stern. But the probe opened the door for Hoover to look at pro-Nazi organizations. Don Whitehead, one of the few authors to research the plot, wrote about it in his book, The FBI Story, A Report to the People. He calls it a "diplomatic fumble" by the German ambassador in Washington, who probably wished he never had called the State Department. That's because Hoover's investigation ultimately became "a valuable reference when the Department of Justice requested additional investigations. And Hoover passed the information to the president," Whitehead observes. All of this is in Hitler's FBI file --even Whitehead's observations -- and now is available at www.fbi.gov. Between the poor copies -- some nearly impossible to read because, says FBI Freedom of Information Officer Linda Gloss, the copies were not made from originals -- and the heavy black ink blocking out what today still is considered classified, there rests a fascinating tale of the FBI's role during the World War II era. For example, deep in the files are a series of memos written by Hoover on Oct. 5, 1939, reviewing intelligence from a confidential informant. The Hoover memos to various U.S. military-intelligence agencies and the president's chief of staff warned of future Japanese aggression and Germany's attack on France. "The Japanese will attack British Indochina and other colonies without warning, simultaneously with the German advance on France," Hoover wrote. And there is ample evidence in the files to undermine rumors that Hitler's personal physician tried to poison him or "administer narcotics that might have contributed to the impairment of Hitler's health" or that "Hitler inherited certain [psychophysical] traits in his childhood and later on, and that these might account for his crimes and other actions," according to an FBI investigation into the matter. The FBI's Hitler files have been available for some time to anyone who cared to schedule an appointment at FBI headquarters in Washington, but few have done so. Two recent critically acclaimed books, Hitler: Diagnosis of a Destructive Prophet by Fritz Redlich and Explaining Hitler by Ron Rosenbaum, fail to mention the FBI files -- although some of the records used to support these authors' opinions, such as Hitler's medical records, are duplicated in the files from other sources. For a long time, many people have believed that African-Americans were targeted by the Central Intelligence Agency to receive the cocaine which decimated black communities in the 1980s. It was, until now, widely accepted that the case could not be proven because of two fallacious straw obstacles to that proof. Both lie smack dab in the misuse of the word "crack" and that is why, in my lectures, I have strenuously objected to the term "CIA crack". First, it cannot and probably never will be established that CIA had anything to do with the first creation of crack cocaine. Chemically, that problem could have been solved as a test question for anyone with a BS in chemistry. The answer: add water and baking soda to cocaine hydrochloride powder and cook on a stove. A study of the literature (including articles I wrote 14 years ago for The U.S. Journal of Drug and Alcohol Dependence), as opposed to, for example, that pertaining to LSD, shows no CIA involvement whatever in the genesis of crack cocaine. Also, there has never been any evidence provided that CIA facilitated the transport or sale of crack itself. What is beyond doubt is that CIA was directly responsible for the importation of tons of powdered cocaine into the U.S. and the protected delivery of that cocaine into the inner cities. Another obstacle has been the fact that CIA imported so much cocaine that, even if every black man, woman and child in the country had been using it, they could not have used all of what CIA brought in. Ricky Ross, the celebrated dealer of Gary Webb's Dark Alliance, sold approximately four tons of cocaine during his roughly five years in business. Yet one CIA ring, that of Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo and Rafael Caro-Quintero, was moving four tons a month. And that was only a fraction of the total CIA operation. Leaving the unsupportable arguments aside, is there a supportable case that CIA directly intended for African-Americans to receive the cocaine which it knew would be turned into crack cocaine and which it knew would prove so addictive as to destroy entire communities? The answer is absolutely, yes. And the key to proving that CIA intended for blacks to receive the drugs which virtually destroyed their communities lies in the twofold approach, of proving that they brought the drugs in and interfered with law enforcement - AND that, by virtue of CIA's relationships with the academic and medical communities, they knew exactly what the end result would be. Knowing that, we then have a mountain of proof, especially since the release of volume II of the CIA's Inspector General's Report (10/98) that the CIA specifically intended and achieved a desired result. For anyone not familiar with the ways in which CIA studies and manipulates emerging social and political trends I cannot encourage strongly enough a reading of The Secret Team by L. Fletcher Prouty, Col., USAF (ret.). This article is a start, a beginning on the painful work that needs to be done to build a class-action lawsuit. Such a suit, by necessity, will have to include room for all the whites, Asians and Latinos who also fell prey to cocaine addiction. But this article should convince any reader that the argument is solid - and winnable. While with the DEA, I was able to keep journals of my assignments in Central and South America. These journals include names, case file numbers and DEA NADDIS (DEA Master Computer) information to back up my allegations. I have pictures and original passports of the victims that were murdered by CIA assets. These atrocities were done with the approval of the agencies. We, ordinary Americans, cannot trust the C.I.A. Inspector General to conduct a full investigation into the CIA or the DEA. Let me tell you why. When President Clinton (June, 1996) ordered The Intelligence Oversight Board to conduct an investigation into allegations that US Agents were involved in atrocities in Guatemala, it failed to investigate several DEA and CIA operations in which U.S. agents knew before hand that individuals (some Americans) were going to be murdered. I became so frustrated that I forced myself to respond to the I.O.B report citing case file numbers, dates, and names of people who were murdered. In one case (DEA file # TG-86-0005) several Colombians and Mexicans were raped, tortured and murdered by CIA and DEA assets, with the approval of the CIA. Among those victims identified was Jose Ramon Parra-Iniguez, Mexican passport A-GUC-043 and his two daughters Maria Leticia Olivier-Dominguez, Mexican passport A-GM-8381. Also included among the dead were several Colombian nationals: Adolfo Leon Morales-Arcilia "a.k.a." Adolfo Morales-Orestes, Carlos Alberto Ramirez, and Jiro Gilardo-Ocampo. Both a DEA and a CIA agent were present, when these individuals were being interrogated (tortured). The main target of that case was a Guatemalan Congressman, (Carlos Ramiro Garcia de Paz) who took delivery of 2,404 kilos of cocaine in Guatemala just before the interrogation. This case directly implicated the Guatemalan Government in drug trafficking (The Guatemalan Congressman still has his US visa and continues to travel at his pleasure into the US). To add salt to the wound, in 1989 these murders were investigated by the U.S Department of Justice, Office of Professional Responsibility. DEA S/I Tony Recevuto determined that the Guatemalan Military Intelligence, G-2 (the worst human rights violators in the Western Hemisphere) was responsible for these murders. Yet, the U.S. government continued to order U.S. agents to work hand-in-hand with the Guatemalan Military. This information was never turned over to the I.O.B. investigation. (See attached response) I have obtained a letter, dated May 28, 1996, from the DEA administrator, to U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D), Texas. In this letter, the administrator flatly lies, stating that DEA agents "have never engaged in any joint narcotics programs with the Guatemalan Military". I was there. I was the leading Agent in Guatemala. 99.9% of DEA operations were conducted with the Guatemalan military. In 1990, the DEA invited a Guatemalan military G-2 officer, Cpt. Fuentez, to attend a DEA narcotic school, which is against DEA policy. I know this for a fact because I worked with this officer for several years and was in Guatemala when he was getting ready to travel to the States. Facts of my investigation on CIA-Contras drug trafficking in El Salvador: The key to understanding the "crack cocaine" epidemic, which exploded on our streets in 1984, lies in understanding the effect of congressional oversight on covert operations. In this case the Boland amendment(s) of the era, while intending to restrict covert operations as intended by the will of the People, only served to encourage C.I.A., the military and elements of the national intelligence community to completely bypass the Congress and the Constitution in an eager and often used covert policy of funding prohibited operations with drug money.
