We've fixed this upstream in January so this will definitely be finxed early

Hi,

Thanks for working on fixing postfix.

One remark / question about the following snippet:

"""
-
+if dpkg --compare-versions $new lt 3.1.4-5~; then
+# This turned out to be the wrong way to solve the problem.
+rm -rf /etc/systemd/system/postfix.service.d
+fi
"""

Given the script only seemed to create
/etc/systemd/system/postfix.service.d/override.conf, shouldn't it only
remove that file (and possibly the directory iff it is empty)? Also,
what if the admin has changed the file locally?

Thanks,
~Niels

Bug#862795: printrun: pronterface should use slic3r command instead of skeinforge

2017-05-16 Thread Scott Howard
Package: printrun
Version: 0~20150310-5ubuntu1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

the pronterface package suggests the slic3r package and does not come with
skeinforge, yet the default settings in pronterface call skeinforge.

I suggest correcting the "Settings->External Commands->Slice Command" to be:

"slic3r $s -o $o"

and the "Slicer option command" should be be

"slic3r"

as suggested by "Macros in pronsole and pronterface" at
https://github.com/kliment/Printrun/blob/master/README.md

Otherwise, perhaps suggest the sfact package and fix the Slice Command and
Option paths so they point to the correct sfact skeinforge path.

If this happens during the installation of ddclient, then this bug
belongs to that package, not debconf. And is indeed of normal severity

By the time Stretch is released as a stable release, Wheezy will *not*
be supported. Asking for backwards compatibility for two stable
releases, especially when there is so much time between stable
releases, is not something which is reasonable to support, since it
also denies the benefit of new features to Debian users.

The number of people who need backwards compatibility with antique
versions of Linux is much smaller, and it's reasonable IMHO to assume
that they will need to use specific command-line options to create a
degraded, less featureful (and in some cases, less performant) file
system, because they want that backwards compatibility.

FYI, there was already a visitors source package in Debian (RMed after

I didn't see that since I searched only in sid, thanks. I do not think
this is a problem since binary packages will be named differently

Bug#862793: samba: Upgrade to 2:4.5+ breaks win7 support

2017-05-16 Thread Karl Schmidt
Package: samba
Version: 2:4.5.8+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Upgrading to stretch left me with samba down as a standalone server for
supporting our last Win-7 box

The symptom was that the win machine kept asking for a password - nothing in
the logs hinted to the situation.

After a very long day, I found A default setting "NTLM auth" had changed from
"yes" to "no" in 4.5.

This change was probably a 'good thing'(tm), but without a bug report google
was not helpful.

Perhaps a mention in NEWS.Debian or README.Debian would be some welcome
bread-crumbs as I'm
sure there are others that also have to support these old systems.

Hi Santiago,

Thanks for your continued investigation. Unfortunately, I still don't think
we've gotten to the bottom of this issue. I just built the package multiple
times in a row with both pbuilder and sbuild, and pbuilder does seem to
include those lines.

Inside my newly recreated Debian unstable pbuilder environment:

# cat /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 desktop

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1     ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters

Interestingly, my newly recreated Debian unstable sbuild environment does
not contain those lines:

# cat /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 desktop localhost

After logging into the chroot and adding them, I am still able to
successfully build the package.

Either way, it seems obvious that this test is currently too noisy to be
useful. So I'll prepare an upload disabling it as well.

Thanks,

I see what you mean. This only happens with PGP messages that are

the local folder for storage. I guess this bug should be transferred to

Thanks for the tip. It worked. I suppose this bug report can be

Bug#860808: ocfs2 blocks jbd2

They won't see this message because you haven't sent it to them.

Please take this directly to the ocfs2-devel mailing list (details at
[0]). Please feel free to keep cc-ing the Debian bug at 86...@bugs.debi
an.org (although I think we have more than enough stack traces at this
point, thanks).

The same goes for #841144 ,I think, assuming you think they are
different bugs. If they are the same they should be merged, let me know
and I can do that, but I think one is fs/ocfs2/alloc.c:1514 and the
other fs/jbd2/transaction.c:297 so it is reasonable to suppose they
might be different until told otherwise by the OCFS2 people.

Thanks,
Ian.

So 1.0~rc2+git20110312-2 is equivalent to upstream's rc3 and includes
these six commits?

I had to read up on the mtrack driver. Yes, from what I've been able
to find it would work. Is it an upstream fork of
xserver-xorg-input-multitouch? I'll have to ask my Macbook using
friends to test this, because I only have an old Thinkpad.
Unfortunately this also means I can't responsibly write Debian on
Macbook documentation either.

If git20110312 is really rc3 than this bug be closed, but if
xserver-xorg-input-multitouch isn't depreciated (and replaced) by
xserver-xorg-input-mtrack then I think our wiki would benefit from an
explanation of when it's better (or necessary) to use one rather than
the other.

https://wiki.debian.org/SynapticsTouchpad

A really nice document:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mac#Touchpad

Configuration example for xserver-xorg-input-multitouch that is
apparently feels very similar to OS X:
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1334696=36=10557093#post10557093

Nicholas

Bug#862791: RFP: traildb -- TrailDB is a highly optimized library for storing and querying series of discrete events

2017-05-16 Thread Ville Tuulos
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: traildb
  Version : 0.6
  Upstream Author : Ville Tuulos
* URL : http://traildb.io/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: C
Description : TrailDB is a highly optimized library for storing and
querying series of discrete events

TrailDB is a highly optimized database library, written in C, which
allows you to store and query trillions of discrete events quickly.
In contrast to many other time-series databases, TrailDB focuses
on discrete data, like events in a log file, which it can compress
efficiently using a custom compression algorithm. It has been powering
large-scale production systems since 2014 and it is being developed
actively. The repo has 750+ stars in GitHub, indicating broad public
interest.

TrailDB is a small, clean, C library with only two external dependencies,
both of which are available as existing Debian packages, which hopefully
makes it straightforward to package. TrailDB has language bindings for a
number of languages, which can be packaged separately later.

I am the upstream author. I am happy to help with packaging as needed. I
have some previous experience of creating Debian packages.

Bug#862752: chromium: 404 pages can't be found

Hello Emmanuel. I am not the maintainer but I have a suggestion.
When you find strange things like this it is always good to double
check using one of the command line tools. Note also that many sites
have custom 404 pages that may be fooling you. Debian's site has
custom 404 pages for example.

It would be good to double using wget or curl to verify the headers
and return code completely independently of any of the web browsers.
For example:

I do not understand what you mean when you say "with devtools open".
But again I am not the maintainer but just another user.

Bug#862591: libvte-2.91-0: xfce4-terminal crashes when dumping a lot of text

2017-05-16 Thread Brian Warner
On 5/15/17 7:33 AM, Andreas Henriksson wrote:

> fwiw, I'm not able to reprocude this on amd64 with gnome-terminal.

I wonder if it's somehow specific to this chromebook. I'm running a
thing called "crouton", which gives you a chroot (of sid, in this case,
but you can get various other debian/ubuntu releases too). The X server
that the terminal program is using will send all its pixels to a Chrome
extension that draws them into a web frame. I don't *think* any of that
should be visible to the application, but maybe drawing pixels doesn't
happen as fast as it would on a normal computer?

I ran lilyterm from a non-crashing terminal (xterm) and had it dump a MB
of "a"s, and got:

Vte:ERROR:/home/warner/stuff/debian/vte2.91-0.46.1/./src/vtestream-file.h:790:unsigned
int _vte_boa_uncompress(char*, unsigned int, const char*, unsigned int):
assertion failed (z_ret == Z_OK): (4294967293 == 0)

and a coredump. So yes, I think that matches.

(I'm using lilyterm because I wasn't able to get gnome-terminal to run
from a regular shell.. I assume that it wants to be launched from some
special GNOME mode where it gets a control socket or a D-Bus thing or
something).

> Seems to me like you need to seek the answer to why uncompress fails

Yup. What is it decompressing anyways? I don't know much about terminal
programs, but from the other symbol names in that stack trace
(VteTerminalPrivate::insert_rows, _vte_ring_insert), I wonder if this
involves the scrollback history. Toggling lilyterm's "Scrollback lines"
option didn't seem to help.

I'll keep digging, and I'll file a bug on the gnome tracker.

Bug#862789: git-buildpackage: Allow importing an upstream version without an upstream branch

2017-05-16 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Package: git-buildpackage
Version: 0.8.12.2

The Debian GNOME team is discussing their svn-to-git migration.
There's a concern about how the upstream/ branches will work when we
temporarily maintain two branches.

For examples, let's say we have debian/unstable and
debian/experimental where unstable might be 3.22.2 and experimental
might be 3.23.91 at the time of the divergence. Later there is a
3.22.3 and a 3.23.92. Finally, when 3.24.1 is released,
debian/experimental is merged into debian/unstable and
debian/experimental is probably deleted.

What do we do with the upstream branches then?

How important is it that upstream imports are tagged? Would it be ok
to allow import-orig to have a mode where no permanent upstream branch
is used and no upstream tags are created?

Thanks,
Jeremy Bicha

Bug#862788: git-buildpackage: import-orig should not normally allow importing an older version

2017-05-16 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Package: git-buildpackage
Version: 0.8.12.2

git-buildpackage import-orig allows you to import original tarballs in
any order. You can import version 4.0 and then import version 3.1. I
believe that will break things badly and should not be allowed or at
least not allowed unless the user explicitly asks for breaking the
normal ascending version order.

Thanks,
Jeremy Bicha

Do you mean that the Debian packaging could just take those patches,
and apply them to the existing Pagure version?

Thanks for the build logs to show those errors.

Perhaps a change to the unit tests, so that they don't rely on an
actual database. (Unit tests should be isolated from external
dependencies that are not reliably available at test time.)

Would this be worthwhile?

> * Specific to v2.14.2: pep8-compat testing would invoke pyflake8,

Another patch that can just be taken from upstream and applied in the
packaging?

Thanks for acting on that. You will also want to get a valid SSL

verify.

Looks like I have a feature request here at best (add "select"
functionality like bash has into fish) which would be more appropriate on
the fish github, or at worst, support which I could try StackExchange for.

Unless I am missing something, feel free to close out. Apologies for the

Oh wow…

Yeah, not only did we use the wrong index, but with a ++ to make sure,
and dhcp_hostname is the next field in the structure, so spot on!

> Patch attached.

Thanks, pushed an updated package to unstable, and cherry-picked the fix
on the jessie branch for a later point release. Marking it as affecting
the version where the offending commit was first included.

Bug#862786: pdmenu depends on the obsolete Debian menu

2017-05-16 Thread Adrian Bunk
Package: pdmenu
Version: 1.3.4
Severity: serious

pdmenu heavily uses the obsolete Debian menu.

Since many packages already dropped their Debian menu entries,
the selection of programs offered has become pretty random.

Bug#862785: unblock: apt/1.4.4

2017-05-16 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

Please unblock package apt

Follow up to 1.4.2 and 1.4.3 that fixes odd shell parsing
stuff for the lock file descriptor ($LOCKFD>&- was parsed
as $LOCKFD >&- -- see #862567). This caused unattended-upgrades
to crash, as it could not write output.

You'll find that the locking code is now much nicer to look
at than in 1.4.2.

(Diff against 1.4.1 with -w, and full against 1.4.3
 attached)

supported. Seems to me that the default installation should be backward
compatible.

Bug#862780: haproxy: Please build with -DUSE_GETADDRINFO for functional IPv6 hostname lookups

2017-05-16 Thread Anton Eliasson
Source: haproxy
Version: 1.7.5-1~bpo8+1.1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch ipv6

Dear Maintainer,

Without this configuration option, haproxy cannot resolve hostnames that have
only IPv6 () records. To quote the project's README:

Recent systems can resolve IPv6 host names using getaddrinfo(). This primitive
is not present in all libcs and does not work in all of them either. Support in
glibc was broken before 2.3. Some embedded libs may not properly work either,
thus, support is disabled by default, meaning that some host names which only
resolve as IPv6 addresses will not resolve and configs might emit an error
during parsing. If you know that your OS libc has reliable support for
getaddrinfo(), you can add USE_GETADDRINFO=1 on the make command line to enable
it. This is the recommended option for most Linux distro packagers since it's
working fine on all recent mainstream distros. It is automatically enabled on
Solaris 8 and above, as it's known to work.

Bug#861842: snort 2.9.7 is EOL upstream

2017-05-16 Thread Lee Garrett
Hi Javier,

thank you for your response. I filed this bug more as a dead man's switch
since the package seemed to lack recent updates. If you're willing to maintain
this version during the lifecycle of stretch I'm fine with your assessment.

I'm interested in getting 3.0 into stretch+1, and maybe even in
stretch-backports. Is someone currently working on that who I can coordinate
with? I've sent a join request to the project, my username is lgarrett-guest.

Greets,
Lee

Bug#862778: Port from libnm-glib to libnm (or GNetworkMonitor)

2017-05-16 Thread Michael Biebl
Source: nis
Version: 3.17.1-1
Severity: normal
User: pkg-utopia-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: libnm

Hi,

the libnm-glib/libnm-util libraries have been deprecated upstream in
favour of libnm.

Your package declares a Build-Depends on network-manager-dev.
It seems, nis uses NetworkManager for checking the connectivity status.
It uses the D-Bus API for that.

ypbind-mt-1.38/configure.ac checks for NetworkManager/NetworkManager.h
and NetworkManager/NetworkManagerVPN.h, but it has fallback code in
ypbind-mt-1.38/src/ypbind_dbus_nm.c in case those headers are not
available.

Please consider switching to libnm, which provides a similar API as
libnm-glib/libnm-util [1] and update the configure check and header
includes accordingly.

Alternatively, and maybe an even better approach would be, to use
GNetworkMonitor instead, which was introduced in glib 2.32 [2] and is
available since wheezy.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#862779: ghostscript: Regression caused by CVE-2017-8291 fix: breaks pstoedit when using DELAYBIND feature

2017-05-16 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Package: ghostscript
Version: 9.20~dfsg-3.1
Severity: serious

Justification: regression
Forwarded: https://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=697846

Hi

The update in unstable for ghostscript breaks pstoedit when using
DELAYBIND feature.

Details: https://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=697846

and originally reported in Ubuntu as:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/+bug/1687614

Fix:
http://git.ghostscript.com/?p=ghostpdl.git;a=commitdiff;h=57f20719

AFAICT, this does only apply to stretch/sid, but not to jessie (but
needs another review).

Salvatore

Bug#862776: ITP: libblockdev -- library for manipulating block devices

2017-05-16 Thread Martin Pitt
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Martin Pitt

* Package name: libblockdev
  Version : 2.6
  Upstream Author : Vratislav Podzimek
  URL : https://github.com/rhinstaller/libblockdev
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: C
Description : Library for manipulating block devices
libblockdev is a C library supporting GObject introspection for manipulation
of
block devices. It has a plugin-based architecture where each technology (like
LVM, Btrfs, MD RAID, Swap,...) is implemented in a separate plugin, possibly
with multiple implementations (e.g. using LVM CLI or the new LVM DBus API).

This will soon be used by udisks [1], see that PR for details of the rationale.
In short, this will replace the coarse/brittle command line tool interfacing
with a proper library which will also be used in different storage management
related tools.

Peter and Andreas did the brunt of the packaging at [2], I'll give it a review
and some fine-tuning soon. This will be maintained under the Utopia umbrella,
the project which already maintains udisks, upower, libatasmart, and other
hardware related plumbing stack parts.

If anyone else is interested, co-maintenance is highly welcome and appreciated!

Thanks,

Martin

Bug#862775: ITP: visitors -- OCaml syntax extension for object-oriented visitors

2017-05-16 Thread Ralf Treinen
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ralf Treinen

* Package name: visitors
  Version : 20170404
  Upstream Author : François Pottier
* URL : https://gitlab.inria.fr/fpottier/visitors
* License : LGPL 2.1
  Programming Lang: OCaml
Description : OCaml syntax extension for object-oriented visitors

Visitors is a syntax extension for the OCaml programming language. It
allows you to annotate your type definitions, such that a visitor class
will be automatically generated. This visitor class contains methods
for the traversal of your data structure, like iter, map, fold, etc. It
is then easy to override these methods for your needs. This is very
convenient when programming with complex algebraic data structures.

This package will be maintained by the Debian Ocaml Maintainers team.

Bug#861680: Bug#861623: qytile: broken dependencies render it useless in Stretch

2017-05-16 Thread Jérôme Lebleu
Hi,

I've got the same issue too. Installing the last version of cairocffi
from pypi "solved" it - e.g. with `$ sudo pip install --no-deps
--ignore-installed cairocffi; sudo pip3 install --no-deps
--ignore-installed cairocffi` as suggested here[1]. It's only for
testing purpose, since it replaces the system files...

However, I think this issue should be moved to qtile package, and
another one should be opened here to upgrade the package to the last
0.8.0 version, isn't?

Thanks in advance,

Jérôme

Bug#862774: Drop leftover Build-Depends on libnm-util-dev/network-manager-dev

2017-05-16 Thread Michael Biebl
Source: packagekit
Version: 1.1.5-2
Severity: normal
User: pkg-utopia-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: libnm

I'm in the process of getting users of the deprecated
libnm-util/libnm-glib libraries updated to use libnm.

packagekit declares a Build-Depends on
libnm-glib-dev/network-manager-dev.

This appears to be a leftover though, since PackageKit has been switched
over to use GNetworkMonitor instead.

Please drop the obsolete Build-Depends and remove the obsolete
--disable-networkmanager configure check which looks for
NetworkManager.pc.

Regards,
Michael

I rebooted the full system, but that did not help: After logging in
again, the keyboard doesn't work. Something is not starting
automatically the way it should.

Looking at im-launch, I can't find anything there that would start
ibus-daemon -- but then, there's lots of stuff calling each other, I may
easily be missing it. This just means right now, I don't know where ti
start debugging.

Bug#862770: Port from libnm-glib to libnm (or GNetworkMonitor)

Hi,

the libnm-glib/libnm-util libraries have been deprecated upstream in
favour of libnm.

Your package declares a Build-Depends on libnm-glib-dev.

Please consider porting telepathy-mission-control-5 to libnm. The API of
libnm [1] is very similar to the one provided by libnm-glib/libnm-util.

If you only need to detect the network connectivity status, it might be
preferrable to drop the use of libnm-glib altogether and use
GNetworkMonitor instead, which was introduced in glib 2.32 [2] and is
available since wheezy.

This request spawned from the work on packaging another Go application

no extra modifications or patches for the new version compared to the

copy() there comes from File::Copy. At the top of the script (line 39,
specifically) you should have:

use File::Copy;

which is provided by:

perl-modules: /usr/share/perl/5.20.2/File/Copy.pm

The "perl" package (which you appear to have installed) depends on the
"perl-modules" package.

Can you check that you have the above file, and what it's size and
permissions are?

Bug#862765: ITP: atomic -- Atomic Run Tool for installing/running/managing container images

2017-05-16 Thread Philippe Thierry

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Philippe Thierry

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "atomic"

* Package name: atomic
  Version : 1.7.1-1
  Upstream Author : Atomic Project
* URL : https://github.com/projectatomic/atomic
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: Python
  Section : admin
Description : Atomic Run Tool for installing/running/managing
container images

It builds those binary packages:

atomic: allows an image provider to specify how a container image
expects to be run

atomic-doc: various documentations and concepts behind atomic

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

https://mentors.debian.net/package/atomic

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
https//mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/a/atomic/atomic_1.7.1-1.dsc

This project defines the entrypoint for Project Atomic hosts. On an
Atomic Host, there are at least two distinct software delivery vehicles;
Docker (often used in combination with the traditional RPM/yum/dnf), and
rpm-ostree to provide atomic upgrades of the host system.

The goal of Atomic is to provide a high level, coherent entrypoint to
the system, and fill in gaps in Linux container implementations.

For Docker, |atomic| can make it easier to interact with special kinds
of containers, such as super-privileged debugging tools and the like.

atomic host does not support Debian-based OS by now (limited to
rpm-based OS). Yet it permit to easily install/uninstall docker
container into the system.

Please consider porting krb5-auth-dialog to libnm. The API of libnm is
very similar to the one provided by libnm-glib/libnm-util.

If you only need to detect the network connectivity status, you can also
use GNetworkMonitor instead, which was introduced in glib 2.32 [2] and
is available since wheezy.

Bug#862763: atomic/1.17.1-1 [ITP] -- Atomic Run Tool for installing/running/managing container images

2017-05-16 Thread Philippe Thierry

Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "atomic"

* Package name: atomic
  Version : 1.7.1-1
  Upstream Author : Atomic Project
* URL : https://github.com/projectatomic/atomic
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: Python
  Section : admin
Description : Atomic Run Tool for installing/running/managing
container images

It builds those binary packages:

atomic: allows an image provider to specify how a container image
expects to be run

atomic-doc: various documentations and concepts behind atomic

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

 https://mentors.debian.net/package/atomic

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
https//mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/a/atomic/atomic_1.7.1-1.dsc

This project defines the entrypoint for Project Atomic hosts. On an
Atomic Host, there are at least two distinct software delivery vehicles;

That is good news!
How is this happening, i.e., which place is responsible for starting
ibus-daemon?

I followed some tutorial on the web, but that seems very similar. I do
not understand this part:

> $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

"Change it", it says. Change it to *what*? I went over it and changed
nothing because it all looked all right.

(Btw, the prompt appearing when I do "reportbug ibus" refers to a file
"/usr/share/doc/ibus/README.Debian" which does not exist. I assume it
means "/usr/share/doc/ibus/README.Debian.gz".)

The doc does not contain the word "reboot". It says

which I did. I will try rebooting later.

So the daemon needs to be started before all applications? Hm.
My testing consisted of: Logging out and back in; things do not work.
Adding an autostart file, now many things do work. Maybe some don't, I
didn't notice any yet. I don't think I have any UI stuff started by
dbus though.

Well, it has generally worked fine for me -- install stuff, and
re-login. im-config told me things were all right, but from all I can
tell, it did not do anything. When I went to im-setup, IIRC it already
contained the German keyboard layout (could be wrong though). So apart
from the autostart issue, things were all right.

What is mozc?

To me it looks like ibus-daemon is terminating for no good reason. So
far I can't even find anything about this in any log anywhere. :/ I
tried passing -R to ibus-daemon to make it restart, but that did not help.

Is there anything I can do that would help figuring out what is going on?

Merely reporting the machine address to Dom0 is already high value since
it lets you attribute the failure to a memory module. Without that you
may have a VM or whole machine randomly crash for a completely unknown
reason.

The "serial" backend is a CUPS backend which has to run as root to
correctly work. CUPS decides which backends run as roo by the file
permissions of the backends. One of the backends which comes with CUPS
and has to run as root is the "usb" backend:

-r-xr--r-- 2 root root 34808 Mar 23 14:55 /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb

This backend is still world-readable and only omits the execution bit
for anyone else than root itself (644 permissions). This should also
work with the "serial" backend in cups-filters.

Yes, that's why I suggested Flatpak. It would also be possible to use
a long bwrap command-line - that's what Flatpak does internally.
One day I should try making game-data-packager's games (mostly the quake
family) use bwrap like that. This would be easier if we had and could
rely on "the /usr merge" - Flatpak runtimes always use merged-/usr
for that reason.

However, as long as Minecraft and other proprietary software requires
X11[1], it's going to be hard to put it in a sandbox that actually
protects you very much - and that's equally true with or without
Flatpak. Using a separate games-playing uid, together
with the support for "fast user switching" (Ctrl+Alt+Fx with a nice
GUI) in desktop environments like GNOME[2], and systemd-logind's
ability to grant and revoke hardware access as this switching occurs,
seems a lot safer for the medium term.

This is of course a trade-off: banishing all untrusted software to
separate hardware would be safer (resistant to kernel vulnerabilities
and permissions misconfiguration) but less convenient, whereas assuming
X11 isn't being abused is more convenient but less safe. Choose your
preferred safety/convenience balance.

S

[1] Also, as long as it requires networking and X11 uses abstract Unix
sockets, since abstract Unix sockets are mediated by network
namespaces, not filesystem namespaces
[2] I'm sure other desktop environments also do this, I just don't use
them frequently enough to know how

Bug#862758: Switch from gir1.2-networkmanager-1.0 to gir1.2-nm-1.0

Hi,

the libnm-glib/libnm-util libraries have been deprecated upstream in
favour of libnm.

Atm, the GIR bindings for libnm-glib/libnm-util and libnm are both
shipped in gir1.2-networkmanager-1.0

To make a transition to libnm easier, the libnm based bindings were
split into a separate package gir1.2-nm-1.0 [1], which is currently
available in experimental and will be uploaded once buster opens for
development.

Your package plinth declares a (build-)dependency on
gir1.2-networkmanager-1.0 but fortunately already uses the new libnm
based bindings. So switching the dependencies from
gir1.2-networkmanager-1.0 → gir1.2-nm-1.0 is all that's needed.

It would be great if you can prepare the necessary changes in
experimental or make them early in the buster development cycle.

Michael

Bug#854686: fabric: FTBFS randomly (failing tests)

2017-05-16 Thread Santiago Vila
Hi.

I added IPv6 support to two of my machines and readded the
lines I dropped from /etc/hosts, namely:

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters

The build fails again, which means, AFAIK, that it's not lack of IPv6
support what makes this package to fail, but just the mere presence of
those lines in /etc/hosts.

Since those lines are always there by default, I can only infer that
this package would FTBFS on any Debian system whose /etc/hosts file
does not deviate from the installed default.

In light of this, I wonder: How would this not be a serious and RC bug?

Sure, the package is Arch:all, but packages are supposed to be buildable
in the official autobuilders. Is this package really autobuildable?

Thanks.

Bug#862757: Should be ported from libnm-glib/libnm-util to libnm

2017-05-16 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: dnssec-trigger
Version: 0.13-6
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: pkg-utopia-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: libnm

Hi,

libnm-glib/libnm-util has been deprecated upstream in favour of libnm.

Your package seems to use the GIR bindings for those libraries.

The libnm based GIR bindings have been split off into a separate package
called gir1.2-nm-1.0 and it is currently available in experimental.
As soon as buster opens for development, this will be uploaded to
unstable.

Please port dnssec-trigger to use the new libnm based bindings. The API
for libnm [1] is in most cases identical to the one provided by
libnm-glib/libnm-util.

The attached patch should do the trick. It's untested though, so please
review and test carefully and ideally forward to upstream.

Would be great if you can prepare those changes in experimental or make
them early in the buster release cycle.

Regards,
Michael

P.S: While looking at dnssec-trigger-script.in, I noticed that you parse
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf directly. Be aware that NM
supports conf snippets in /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/ and
/usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/, so parsing NetworkManager.conf alone is
insufficient.

Bug#862756: gcc-7 cross compiler build: generated dependencies on multilib libcs unsatisfiable

2017-05-16 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: gcc-7
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

Hi Matthias,

there is yet another issue with the current cross compiler build (using
-$arch-cross packages, not the with_deps_on_target_arch patchset). In
the unstaged cross compiler build, unannotated dependencies on the
multilib libc packages are emitted. See this installation failure for
instance:

| Setting up gcc-7-cross-base (7.1.0-5) ...
| Setting up gcc-7-mips-linux-gnu-base:amd64 (7.1.0-5) ...
| dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of lib64atomic1-mips-cross:
|  lib64atomic1-mips-cross depends on libc6-mips64 (>= 2.24); however:
| Package libc6-mips64 is not installed.
|
| dpkg: error processing package lib64atomic1-mips-cross (--install):
| dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
| dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of lib64gcc-7-dev-mips-cross:
|  lib64gcc-7-dev-mips-cross depends on lib64atomic1-mips-cross (>= 7.1.0-5);
however:
| Package lib64atomic1-mips-cross is not configured yet.

Here, we can see that lib64atomic1-mips-cross depends on libc6-mips64.
For lib64atomic1, that would be the correct dependency, but for a
dpkg-cross'ed package, it should have transformed the dependency to
libc6-mips64-mips-cross. The updating should happen in a sed expression
transforming the corresponding substvars file in debian/rules.defs. The
attached patch fixes the sed expression.

In principle, this bug also applies to gcc-6, but I don't think it is
worth fixing there.

2017-05-16 Thread Diego M . Rodríguez
Thanks for reviewing and for the notice, Gianfranco!

I have revised the license of that html file (plus another file on the
same directory that seemed to be under a different license as well),
and pushed to git, tagged, and uploaded a new version in mentors
(1.1.0+git20170324.3.ed7d758-2).

Best regards, and thanks again,

Another thing that would be a really neat addition to a wrapper around
Minecraft would be to run it inside a restrictive namespace by default.
Minecraft has a pretty well-understood file access pattern, and there's
really no reason to allow it to read, say, your Firefox cookie database,
or something else that's in your home directory. You could probably also
cut off quite a lot of syscalls with seccomp without changing the
functionality.

I played around with configurations for a server and can confirm that the
following systemd jailing configuration works for the server, but I'm
quite sure that one could get more restrictive than this with some work
(for example, I didn't even start on syscall filtering).

ProtectSystem=full
ProtectHome=true
ProtectKernelTunables=true
ProtectControlGroups=true

Bug#862753: Fwd: mpg123 crashes in Remote mode if FORMAT command issued when file loaded but not started playback

2017-05-16 Thread Al Schmidt
Package: mpg123

$ dpkg -s libc6 | grep ^Version
Version: 2.19-18+deb8u6

Description: the file sample rate is retrieved using the "FORMAT" command.
This is needed to calculate total and current time (in conjunction with the
sample count/total retrieved with "SAMPLE" command). If "FORMAT" command is
issued when a (valid) file has been loaded but playback not started (using
the "LOADPAUSED/LP" command) the sample rate (and channel count) are
properly reported. However, when playback of the file is started, mpg123
crashes (see log below). I have duplicated this on a USB sound "card" as
well as default hardware. It does not appear to be an alsa/audio issue
because the FORMAT command does return the correct value, and the file can
be played back correctly on the same system. I have also tried FORMAT then
"SEEK 0", "FORMAT" then "STOP" then "LOADPAUSED" and "PAUSE" but the crash
still happens. I've found no sequence of subsequent actions following a
"FORMAT" of an unplayed file that does not result in a crash upon playback.
Log: (inline descriptive comments added to actual log output is designated
by //)
Note: skipping the "FORMAT" command in the log below will prevent the crash.

Bug#862752: chromium: 404 pages can't be found

2017-05-16 Thread Emmanuel Revah
Package: chromium
Version: 57.0.2987.98-1~deb8u1
Severity: normal
Tags: newcomer

Dear Maintainer,

It appears that Chromium does not let me see 404 pages sent from certain
websites. I've tested using the same website with Firefox, I get the usual 404
header with the website's 404 page.

With Chromium I do not, I get Chromium's own error page "No webpage was found
for the web address:".

I've checked settings and plugins and I've launched Chromium with a clean
profile and unchecked "Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors",
yet I still don't receive the server's result.

I found one thing that does work: DevTools. Indeed, with devtools open I can
see the server's 404 page as I should.

Bug#862717: [Pkg-ime-devel] Bug#862717: ibus-daemon often crashes on suspend/resume

2017-05-16 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hmmm...

I now realize:

> default-display-manager: /usr/bin/sddm

I use GDM3 without problem for ibus.

I hear KDE user are suffering strange IM problem with uim too.

 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=862558

KDE used to work without problem. So something changed on sddm side how
it run's its start up. Maybe how sddm is started by systemd.

One user reported that by SSH into the problematic system via SSH, he
sees:

 1861 tty2 Rl+0:09 ksplashqml Breeze --pid
 1871 tty2 Sl+0:00 \_ /usr/lib/mozc/mozc_server
 1877 tty2 Sl+0:00 \_ /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/uim/uim-candwin-qt5 -v

Strange thing is why ksplashqm calling IM? He killed
/usr/lib/mozc/mozc_server and got to log into system.

The way this bug is happening, this looks like a bug on plasma-workspace
or mozc.

(This looks like mozc starting without regard to the other program.
This may help some mozc user by letting them to skip configuration but
certainly this is non-optimal way.)

Regards,

Osamu
