I want to compile the kernel-29 or kernel-30 source and I want to be able
to use "make menuconfig". The problem is:
kernel-source-2.0.29 suggests ncurses-dev (for menuconfig)
kernel-source-2.0.29 recommends gcc
ncurses-dev depends on libc5-dev

I am getting exactly these same errors, and have been since installation.
I heard somewhere (I think in an advocacy group) that one version of
Debian had some sim link problems that I suspect might be causing this.
Mayby the package you were installing is the culprit.

I did a
dpkg --search libtermcap.so.2
and it couldn't find it. Does that mean that it doesn't exist anywhere
in the debian distribution?
Does anyone know where I can get it from?
Thanks.

Thanks, Bob! I guess I should have kept going with fdisk instead of
wimping out. I probably would have gone down that path eventually.
I asked two of my friends familiar with this (both Debian users, in
fact) and both of them answered with "I don't remember exactly how that
works, but it does."

Thanks!

I just bought a Pentium pro with a bundled 3c905 boomerang card...
I figured to try it out in windows to see if it works...couldn't
get the enet card to work...
Installed redhat 4.2...the boomerang worked with no problem...
(but I built a clean 2.0.30 with 3c59x support and I had no luck...)
