patch however was scrapped on the design list, but you can see it

About the close button: Under Gnome 3, modal windows don't get a close
button in the titlebar (usually they don't get a titlebar either).
... both options are fine

I would, however, like the statusbar indicator to be gone.

gray color. Project Tango no has many icons, which are needed for
LibreOffice.

This is not to say that we need a completely new HIG, but we need to
either copy/paste the pieces we like from others (it still need s to
be conherent) or need to adapt a pre-existing one that covers what we
need.

Sure, we then have a slightly less crowded status bar, but on the
other hand LibO's scrollbar will be shorter and less useful (cf.
horizontal scrollbar in Calc).
