Have you rebooted the system since the upgrade? The apport file includes
errors which would indicate that the versions of NetworkManager
mismatch, which is indicative of an upgrade issue.
You might want to try to apply all available updates again using
upgrade-manager.

I won't count my chickens before they hatch ... but removing the nvidia
driver seems to solve the problem. I started and restarted my notebook
very often after switching to the generic driver.
I can't believe it. I will keep on testing. And I also will test new
drivers.
But so far:
I also encounter the following once the radio stops. It first says
Searching for multimedia plugins and then stops with an error.

Could you test if this memory leaking bug exist in new totem 3.4 version? Totem
3.4 fixes lots of bugs, which exists in 3.0.1, which is in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
You can install Totem 3.4.2 from official gnome3-team repository (
