Status peter & help for facebook

2024-01-20 Thread Peter kovacs
Hello all,

I am currently very occupied with work and have not much energy left for AOO. I
hope for improvement but I do not know when this will occur.

I check the Facebook page from time to time. And answer comments. I did even
write a short heads up for 4.1.15

Arrigo wanted to help, but I lack the admin rights in order to add him, and
Facebook support was not really helpful.
Can someone ask on @Members for help to sort the Facebook page out? We need
someone from Facebook to enable us again to manage the page.

Thanks and all the best
Peter

I know about that one, and it's actually
included in AOO sources, right?

However, it seemed to me that the original
inquirer wanted something more specific, like
maybe converting parts with table layout from
PDF into spreadsheet table in AOO.

Yes, that is a good start and works for digital PDFs. It would have to allow to
select to import to Calc or Writer...
But to convert a PDF that consists of a scanned page, it would require an OCR
capability which the current extension does not have.

In any case, it would be a great extension!

Best,

We do have this one:

It has not been updated for a long time and I think it imports PDF in
Draw. But maybe it is a starter?

Hi Dave

I will upload or send to you by email the SVG(s) later today.

Can you use the SVG directly on the page? Wouldn't that be preferable instead
of PNGs?

Separate issue:
I opened the Spanish forum on Firefox running on Linux and it looks good.
However opening the same page on Android is missing some elements. I used
Firefox and Vivaldi and in both the top bar is missing as well as the "Enlaces
rápidos" text
I just switched to the EN page and the same problems occur on my Android 7.1.2

You can upload it to imgur.com - I’ll download, test, and store in the forums.

I think we should have a logo/graphics place in OpenOffice.apache.org which
comes from https://github.com/apache./openoffice-project/

Re: [GRAPHICS] Help with SVG versions of AOO website logo and Forum Header

2022-05-08 Thread Dick Groskamp
Dave,

For Dutch (NL) you don't need a separate Forum Header. You can safely use the
EN version.
We Dutch do so now and again "borrow" words from other languages. Forum is one
of them.
NL uses the same word as in English
So you can safely use the EN version then (Or copy and name it NL)

Hi again

I have created an SVG for the Forums/Fora (don't know where I should upload it
to)
The word Forum is editable (in Ubuntu Condensed 26pt)
I have created Forum (EN, FR, IT and PL), Foren (DE) and Foro (ES)

https://imgur.com/a/FDqydFu

If any of the other language users sends the word / characters I can update it
or simply send the SVG

[GRAPHICS] Help with SVG versions of AOO website logo and Forum Header

2022-05-07 Thread Dave Fisher
Hi -

It would be great if we had a transparent background and svg versions of our
website logos:

We have an svg version of the orb here:
https://github.com/apache/openoffice-org/blob/main/assets/images/AOO_logos/svg/orb.svg
I can’t find an svg of the full website logo. Does anyone know of one?
An svg should convert any fonts to shapes

(1) The Forum header - https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/logo_forum.png

The same graphic on every forum right now. Size is 450px x 77px. Extra credit
if someone can create versions for: ES, FR, HU, IT, JA, NL, and PL. VI is
read-only and ZH is non-functional and not currently available.

(2) The website logo -
https://github.com/apache/openoffice-org/blob/main/assets/images/AOO_logos/AOO4_website_logo.png

The size is 268px x 100px

Best,
Dave

Hi Matthias

I get a lot of errors when trying to configure 41X

checking for GNOMEVFS... no
configure: error: Package requirements (gnome-vfs-2.0 >= 2.6.0 ) were not met:

No package 'gnome-vfs-2.0' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GNOMEVFS_CFLAGS
and GNOMEVFS_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Does 41X still need gnome-vfs?

https://github.com/apache/openoffice/commit/ca91c47212927702e72149e398fae850402fa54c

This patch makes GIO default, is that available on CentOS 5?

If yes, I am ready to commit it to AOO41X.

Bootstrap is part of the build process, so it always downloads the
appropriate version needed for the branch.

Ah, yes forgot that detail :) I built 42X to test the empty/not-empty items

Can bootstrap download both versions and the correct one is used during

First of all, which version do you want to build?

For AOO41X we use epm 3.7 for trunk/AOO42X we use epm 5.

2022-03-20 Thread Pedro Lino
Hi Damian

Thank you for the quick answer and solution. Unfortunately I have no idea on
how to backport a commit from trunk. Can you/someone please do that?

In any case the missing libraries were apparently not needed, as you mentioned,
since compiling finished successfully after the hack mentioned below.

During compiling I realized that our build process now requires epm 5.0.0 but
the bootstrap still downloads epm 3.7
Manually downloading epm 5 from
https://github.com/jimjag/epm/archive/v5.0.0.tar.gz
and renaming to 8ce02a315807bd406b5de85ccf63e7fb-epm-5.0.0 worked

Can you/someone please fix the bootstrap issue?

Thanks!

Best,
Pedro

Backport these commits from trunk:

commit ca91c47212927702e72149e398fae850402fa54c
Author: Damjan Jovanovic
Date: Thu Oct 19 16:35:49 2017 +

GnomeVFS was deprecated 9 years ago. Make GIO, its replacement,
the default searched by configure.ac instead.

commit 6b1c0a07ced87c91d0adf8f59096a87e364647c0
Author: Damjan Jovanovic
Date: Sat Oct 21 06:15:07 2017 +

Don't require ORbit to compile. We never really needed it:
GConf makes its own CORBA connection if it needs to, and
the only reason we included orbit.h is to check whether
the problematic version < 2.8 was present, as it deadlocks
the GTK VCL plugin.

But ORbit 2.8 was released in 2003, and GConf doesn't
even use CORBA connections any more. So drop the check
and stop needing ORBit altogether.

What do you think Peter, should I do that at this point in time?

OK, the extension works, but it's only a prototype at the moment and above all
we had thought about releasing more language localizations.

The Answer was:

I wanted to leave positive feedback for the extension, but I didn't see
anywhere to do so.

:) Sometimes small features make a difference.

So if you have time please release it on extensions, so she can rate it.
If you are happy with the version of course.

In this thread
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20=99632

Hubert Lambert in the second last post gives some BASIC code to modify the item
name in the menu bar. This would surely allow you replace the item name with
"Item Name "

It is de ID of the variable and should not be changed.
If you do you also have to look for the places the variable is used and change
it there too.
I don't think it's worth it, whether the variable is called

makes no different to me. If only it is unique matters.

Re: Minor amendment to F1 help or formatting windows

2021-03-14 Thread Dean . Webber
My bad, am using Apache OpenOffice 4.5.0 (AOO450m1 Build:9900 Rev:facded3995)
it an ASF Buildbot realease, Linux.

I am planning to purchase additional hardware in the future, and will be using
the 4.1.9 or 4.2.0 builds on those machines for testing purposes. This should
align better with the same release you are all using, but for now this 'daily
driver' machine is using 4.5.0.

Re: Minor amendment to F1 help or formatting windows

2021-03-14 Thread Dean . Webber
Good day all,

When someone has a spare moment could these minor amendments be published into
the help for Writer, or could the "Area" tabs be renamed to "Background".

Details;

Index - Watermarks

Defining Graphics or Colors in the Background of Pages (Watermark)
1. Choose Format - Page.
2. On the Background tab page, select a background color or a background
graphic.

- This should read, on the "Area" tab page, or the area tab should be renamed
"Background"

Index - Background

Background
Set the background color or graphic.
You can specify the background for paragraphs, pages, headers, footers, text
frames, tables, table cells, sections, and indexes.

To access this command...
Choose Format - Paragraph - Background tab
- This should read, on the "Area" tab, or the area tab should be renamed
"Background"
Choose Format - Character - Background tab
- This is correct as displayed
Choose Format - Picture - Background tab
- This should read, on the "Area" tab, or the area tab should be renamed
"Background"
Choose Format - Frame/Object - Background tab
- This should read, on the "Area" tab, or the area tab should be renamed
"Background"
Choose Format - Page - Background tab
- This should read, on the "Area" tab, or the area tab should be renamed
"Background"
Choose Format - Page - Header - More button
- This should read, on the "Format - Page - Header - More button - Area" tab,
or the area tab should be renamed "Background"
Choose Format - Page - Footer - More button
- This should read, on the "Format - Page - Header - More button - Area" tab,
or the area tab should be renamed "Background"
Choose Format - Styles and Formatting - open context menu of an entry and
choose Modify/New - Background tab
- This should read, on the "Area" tab, or the area tab should be renamed
"Background"
Choose Insert/Edit - Section - Background tab
- This is correct as displayed

Same Modification in the various other background help pages. Probably easier
for someone to do the editing rather than me list all the known occurrences? If
someone has knowledge of how to edit, I am happy to communicate with them and
find as many occurrences of Background instead of Area as I can :)

** Perhaps it would be easier to modify the naming convention for the tab from
Area to Background, and more obvious to users...

I found this when attempting to apply a "Watermark" to the draft document via
OpenOffice. At current there seems to be no feature for this, but have instead
used a graphic available from the forum, and applied as a background graphic.
Watermarks would be a nice feature to have in a future release of AOO, but am
content for now 

Have a nice day all,
Dean

And for the word "funky". I was looking for something "eye-catching" to be

That’s really funky. Pages in those iframes need to be moved from the content
tree to the assets tree. I missed that in the site migration.

content/documentation/online_help/helpauthoring/HelpAuthoring_ind-passthru.html
To
assets/documentation/online_help/helpauthoring/HelpAuthoring_ind-passthru.html

content/documentation/online_help/helpauthoring/HelpAuthorings-passthru.html
To
assets/documentation/online_help/helpauthoring/HelpAuthorings-passthru.html

Any committer can do this.

https://github.com/apache/openoffice-org/tree/main/content/documentation/online_help/helpauthoring

The Jenkins build jobs have been restored.

Sorry this is a proposal without a known solution (on my part) but I
suspect a ticket to infra may be involved which I could create.

I'm pretty sure only Infra can help as I think it's handled in the

I thought it cannot be true that there is no respective footer in

Help with GIT. PR #74 Removed whitespace from files Helpcontent2

2020-12-18 Thread Dick Groskamp
Back in February I started working on removing superfluous whitespace between
tags in files in the folder Helpcontent2.
These files contain the content for the Help files in AOo. In the very past
superfluous whitespace was introduced by former participants, probably to make
the code in the files more readable.

However, in the application POOTLE, which we use for translating the Help
files, these whitespace needlessly shows up in the segments to translate. This
creates confusion for the translators whether they should remove the whitespace
or not. Removing it will instantiate errors in POOTLE.

Removing these whitespaces would bring the original segments in sync with
translated ones in terms of formatting. It should also removed unneccessary
warnings/errors in Pootle. The changes I made are only to text, no coding,
also some typo's corrected if I can across them.

Starting this was also my first attempt to try using GIT. Obviously I made some
mistakes, for instance by not incorporating all changes in one commit but
acrosse several, but I had no idea how many changes GIT could handle in one
time. Now I'm ended up with four outstanding PR's which should contain my
changes and are waiting to be incorporated.

Today I had another look at the changes for PR 74 by fetching upstream trunk to
my local fork.
Then I merged upstream trunk to my local fork.
Checked out to branch Latest and rebased that.

Now I need help to continue.
How can I integrate my changes in upstream trunk/main/source/helpcontent2
Can I do that myself or does someone has to approve my PR and have a look at it.

Or would it be more simple to start over en delte the old PR's ?

Greetings,
Dick

I've checked and the last Devm2 build didn't have this issue... the main diffs
are the upgrade to APR and, interestingly, a patch file added to the serf
build... I'm pulling out the NULL patch from serf to see if that may be a

That's in main/soltools.

Try isolate the exact command used, and try run that problematic
makedeepend binary in a debugger with the same args. 4 = SIGILL, a bad
sign, possibly a buffer overflow because the absolute filesystem path to
AOO is too long, or other such.

I don't think I've used it recently, but it has worked in the past on
linux and FreeBSD.

Building --enable-debug is causing a weird issue...

../unxmaccx.pro/bin/makedepend: error: got signal 4
dmake: Error code 1, while making '../unxmaccx.pro/obj/checkdll.obj'
dmake: '../unxmaccx.pro/obj/checkdll.obj' removed.

I'm not sure if this is macOS specific or whether or not doing so breaks on
other platforms as well... anyone know before I spin up another VM and test?

Looks like the update dialog contains a "treelistbox" which attempts to
initialize drag-and-drop, and DragSource::initialize() in frame 1 then does
something to cause the crash.

Can you drag-and-drop within AOO generally, eg. drag a file from your file
manager into Writer?

The code seems to be in
http://opengrok.openoffice.org/xref/trunk/main/vcl/aqua/source/dtrans/DragSource.cxx?r=9f62ea84#183

Make a debug build (which should have line numbers), and show us the stack
trace from that?

Alternatively, if you know a recent version in which the update dialog
didn't crash, "git bisect" to find the offending commit.

So I've been working on some of the macOS bugz and am looking at the UNO bridge
as a likely subject, hence the various changes to the macOS code there. I'm
hoping someone can help me with this crash.

I open up Extension Manager, hit check for updates and AOO immediately dies,
with the following bt. Any ideas?

Re: help needed building AOO for the first time

Are you following one of these guides :

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO/Step_by_step#Windows_7.2C_Windows_8.1.2C_Windows_10

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO/Building_on_Windows

I confess I haven't done a build for a year or two now, but when I did a
successful build I contributed to the page in the first link to document
the process, and others have contributed in the meantime to make it
possible to build with 64bit cygwin.
Now that Windows 10 has WSL2 it might be interesting to try a build that
way instead of using cygwin, but for a first successful build I would
suggest following the above guides step by step.

I think we need more details...

What prerequisites have you installed?
Which branch of AOO do you want to build?
Which version if Cygwin do you use (type "uname -a" in cygwin)?

I don't even know what --build=BUILD should do, is this your complete
./configure?
If yes, you will get a lot more errors later...

But let's begin with the basic questions above, then we can surely find
a way...

What does

    --with-package-format="installed"

actually do?

You could spare some time with the packaging process, but since you are
only building en-US that is only a fraction of the time needed for a
full build.

With which command do you start you builds?
You can try to go into Comphelp and execute a clean command there.
Make clean or dmake clean.

Confirmed! Has always been that way for me (on Windows).

Trunk/42X works without cleaning but often gives unreliable results. So
to be sure I always do a clean build in the end.

Request for build help

2020-06-08 Thread Patricia Shanahan

I am having persistent problems building 4.1.7. The problems also apply
to 4.1.3.

A complete build from clean works, but takes many hours. A build without
cleaning always fails in comphelper.

I have uploaded a typical log file to
http://www.patriciashanahan.com/apache/log3.txt. My configure parameters
are attached.

Any suggestions?

PKG_CHECK_MODULES is a macro that is part of autoconf (autotools)
