Hi Marco,

in the download section of the oxidforge.org (sorry no link, I am offline
right now) we provide a lean and lenk Vmware appliance as a webserver for a
 development environment (500MB).

After we updated the tool with a samba server, you will find a perfect
 environment for development there.

I'll mention this. When will it be updated?

For gathering feature requests, we set up an appropriate web-based tool which

Re: [oxid-dev-general] Deleting unregistered user accounts [T-3CKCXFBU7D-56]

2009-11-12 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hi Andreas,

first of all: it had been a very bad idea to make such an essential
change without discussing or at least without informing before ...!
The OXID has always been a fixed value and all connections to other
 tables do use this.

We have already been talking about this face-to-face. Thanks again for
that very valuable input.
OXID is still in a period of transition and learning of how to
communicate important changes like this _before_ the official release
notes. Hope you recognized the wind of change of the past
months/weeks. :-)

To come to the gist of the matter:
AFAIK, presently, user data are stored in oxuser as well as in oxorder
table independently from the users' choice (registered or
unregistered).
From a legal point of view - and this should be the only and lonely
criterion - I would propose that so called unregistered users shall
only appear in oxorder regarding their single order. This data could be
kept according the shopowners' obligation to keep business issues for
years. They shall not appear in oxuser at all.
- oxremarks would appear in oxorder as well
- as there would not be any oxuser entry, the unregistered user cannot
have a history or related stuff

In my opinion, this is not just a dirty workaround but a legal
requirement. If we consequently implemented it like proposed, of course,
a couple of problems would come up, especially for existing interfaces
that used oxuser instead of oxorder for gathering data before.

Let me know about your thoughts.

[oxid-dev-general] reactions to dev.oxidforge.org

2009-12-02 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hello everybody,

I don't want to keep you back from some reactions on dev.oxidforge.org.

I got a lot proposals for naming the baby:

Stew (via Facebook):
• Oxid tool box,
• Oxid sand box,
• Oxid playground,
• Oxid expansion net.
• OXID Anvil. Swiss Army Knife seems too long

Marco:
• OXID swiss knife (via AW Facebook)
• OXID dev channel

Tomas (via Skype):
• OXID developer network (ODN)

Sascha J. Hauf (via mailing list)
• OxidColpa

Sascha Schilling (via facebook)
• Oxid Action

Pratyush Kumar (via LinkedIn)
• Oxorate

Any more ideas from your site? I would like to setup a poll, either on
OXIDforge or in forums.

Furthermore, the post to twitter co. returned 42 clicks. 3 users are
already logged on.

Björn Schotte recognized it very early and claimed about a display error
that is fixed now.

Best of all: Thomas Wiesseckel (PHP User) :-)
... start of commits will take a while but our readers like to see
OXID ... with that service, you are far ahead. I'll keep the fingers
crossed that it will cause a furor ...

Finally, he asked me if I wanted to write a print article for PHP User
about Community Building. Of course I want to :-) Will get back to this
list for proof reading. The deadline is Jan 5th.

Hi

I just had the idea that removing the backward compatibility is not just a
topic of tamplats, but also of modules. If you for example remove most of the
__get method in oxarticle or the _setDeprecatedValues in oxbasket you could
also break modules. It could be possible that these public properties have benn
used in 4.X modules as well, so removing them will force a module update as
well.
Don't get me wrong. I want this stuff to be removed, I just want to point out
that there is more then just 2 year old templates to keep in mind.

@Andreas: Everyone writing one module is a good idea. I like crowd sourcing :)

 Hi all,

as I said: I'd like to have that stuff removed soon. In many places
it's eating up performance unnecessarily. And a 15 months period of
having those deprecated values is enough. (They had been marked as
deprecated from the very beginning ...)

@Sven: Did you really check the amount of time you would need to
update those old templates? Actually I cannot really understand why
you took this way .. - cause in the very beginning of OXID 4 we tried
to take the old templates twice ... - seeing that it did not work to
just adopt the old ones but much work had to be done to make for
example the order process work. So we decided never to take the old
tmeplates cause the effort to switch to the new style was not much
bigger as to fix the old templates.

The idea to prepare some modules for keeping the old stuff is a good
 one, I think.
@Erik: As you want to remove the old stuff you should know what
exactly would have to be removed. So could you perhaps give us a list
of files and functions which would be changed due to that? This would
make it possible to a. check if all that stuff could be managed by
some modules b. devide the task between some more developers and
perhaps everybody of this list could contribute ONE module - and we
would be done very quickly. :-)

 Regards!
 Andreas

 Task: T-0E90ZOGEP6-43

 Hi Sven,

It's exactly why we asked this in this mailing list. We want
feedback. We want the dialog. This is not an decision to be taken
 lightly.

Yes, OXID wants to get rid of this support as its time consuming in
maintaining. Maybe we should view this in context of years. The 4.0
was released in October 2008. It's now 2010. We are not talking about
removing it next week :) How long do you think is an appropriate time
for support? 2011 ? And when will it be acceptable for the client
that it's no longer supported ? Did you investigated how much work it
is to convert these templates into the new standard? I guess it's
costing OXID way more effort in keeping this feature than for this
customer in porting the templates. To be honest, I don't think it's
fair either to expect indefinite support so that I as customer never
need to change anything, waiting until there is a business need like
a need the look feel of the shop.
The question is: what's a reasonable timeframe for supporting it,
reasonable for the whole community. Remember that every time spend in
supporting old stuff, is reducing the time to make new cool features.
What do you rather have ? I agree, you can't leave clients out in the
rain. But if most are already ported, how long do we keep supporting
this? indirectly on costs of other clients ... They get a tiny bit of
less features .. What is the good timing for stopping support for an
old feature? Not an easy answer...

BTW Your example scenario EE vs CE is skewed. You still need to
update every CE for bugfixes / security fixes reasons. And if that
newer version doesn't support the old templates you have the same
problem again. So what's the point in this scenario? It doesn't solve
your problem. Or do you want to say that this customer is willing to
forgo on bug / security fixes just to save template issues ? Now
that's a scary thought. Maybe he does have a budget for that ?

The idea of an old templating system as a module is very interesting.
If we make one, are you willing to maintain it ? This is actually an
 serious question

This allows to add parameters to the selflink not only in templates, but also

To save space on product list, the
suggestion was to show it instead of article number.

The product list should be unified and consistent for the customer.
So, if you decide to show an article number in the product list, you have to
show _always_ a product number. You cannot hide it just because you are obliged
by somebody to show a product weight.

If there is no place in the current demo layout do display both data fields,
you have to change the layout.

BTW The redesign of the demo layout should be done anyway. IMO the demo layout
is long overdue for a redesign. It nearly looks like Oxid
5 years ago. Horrible. I hope this work is in progress...

Thorsten

 Hi,

yes, It is because of the Trusted Shops.
There is possibility to calculate shipping costs according to product
weight. So if weight is entered, we must display it by product
description (price). To save space on product list, the suggestion was
to show it instead of article number.

 Vilma

Re: [oxid-dev-general] System requirements for file rights shouldbe mandatory?

2010-08-04 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hi everybody,

imagine John Doe has downloaded OXID eShop as a zip file. John unpacks it to
his Windows OS and uploads it using a regular FTP client. John Doe of course
has no idea of SSH, wget, unzip or svn checkout.

I am talking about a regularily and well-configured Debian(ish) system on the
server now. Of course, there might be differences on other OSses. On the
server, the files are usually saved with chmod 0644 and the user group
FTP-user, right? Now, the installation routine which is run in user group
www-data is trying to write to the config.inc.php file and fails because it has
no permission to do so. On restrictive systems like Debian, it is not even
possible to change this permission with a PHP routine.
The proper way now would be to $ chown www-data config.inc.php and back to
FTP-user after the installation BUT you cannot do so when you don't have SSH ;)
That's why there is a workaround to check if config.inc.php is writable before
installation. If not - permissions have to be set manually to 0777 and back to
0644 again after finishing the installation.

I don't see the need to check all files for their permission. Everybody is free
to even set it to 0777 for the complete system - it is just own risk, isn't it?

Why red?
If John now opens up the installation routine, he would not even recognize
yellow. He would immediately stumble through the rest of the installation and
will definately fail in the last step. Failing again and again, he will either
ditch the installation or - best case - request in the forums.
Of course, the error message ... doesn't fit the system requirements ... is
not correct in that manner but man, I can really live with it under the above
named circumstances.

Let me sum:
We knowingly decided for this workaround and the red button to
- decrease barriers of entry for new users and thus enlarge the community
- avoid from redundant support requests.

BTW: Before that decision I checked it in several other similar systems like
OSC, zencart, joomla, phproject etc. and found out that they use exactly this
workaround. Obviously best practice :-)

Due to the above named, I don't really see a reason to change that behaviour.
Maybe we can change the error message for the file permission check one day...

Do you see my point? ACK?

Regards
Marco

2010-08-04 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hi,

I don't understand why this bug has triggered a discussion about the
mandatority of file rights check, they are mandatory, just the message is
wrong if config.inc.php is not 444.

Because it was misunderstood. And discussions are fun, aren't they :-)))

Alright, got your point now.

$ chmod 777 config.inc.php brings

Information:
Your system doesn't fit the system requirements. More information can be found
in the system requirements check.
Please delete directory: setup!
Due to security reasons put your config.inc.php file to read-only mode!

chmod 644 config.inc.php (on my system) brings

Information:
Please delete directory: setup!

In case $ chmod 777 config.inc.php the first message Your system doesn't fit
the system requirements... shall be ditched.

Hi Marco,

i don't speak about the installation. I'm talking about the admin area of an
already installed shop. If you have config.inc.php any more permissive than
444, the admin area says The shop doesn't meet the system requirements. And
this is fatally wrong. The shop meets the system requirements, but
config.inc.php is not 444. This message is new, it wasn't there in earlier
versions. The security of confic.inc.php has nothing to do with the
functionality of the shop, only with the security.

Thats my point.

I don't understand why this bug has triggered a discussion about the

[oxid-dev-general] Where to store your good suggestions?

2010-10-20 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hi everybody,

on this list, during the last few weeks and months there were discussed
and just suggested a couple of very good ideas concerning the
improvement of the code.

Now, we have got an organizational flaw and I wanted to request your
ideas about it:
As you know, there is a bugtracker that contains clear bugs and a
feature request list where we tell people to store features. But between
bugs and features there is a wide gray area of (code) improvements,
maintenance, and however you would call it. Where especially to store
the code improvements?
- As the bugtracker shall be reserved for bugs only, we unlikely want to
use it for such ideas: It could easily happen that the bugtracker will
be flooded and will become confusing. Also, we cannot get out real
metrics for our QA.
- We dont want to introduce a third tool besides bugtracker and feature
request list for it to keep the structures clear.

Would you have any objections if we would store such things including
maybe code examples in the feature request list - after we discussed it
on dev-general?

Re: [oxid-dev-general] Where to store your good suggestions?

2010-10-21 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hi Chris and Markus,

Thanks for your suggestions!

Chris said:

I think this is a good idea but if you want to use oxid.uservoice.com
feature
request list, you need to make the status of items on this list clear.

For the user invented feature requests, it is mostly clear: The more
voices, the higher is the possibility to get it implemented. The status
of code improvements could be sorted out already over the mailing list.
E.g. if something is simply not doable - we could say it already here. A
good idea that sounds practical, shall go to uservoice.

Also, we could agree about something like a prefix, let's say code
improvement: . With this string, it should easily be possible to find
these items again. I think it makes sense to getting things done
blockwise, for example all features requested for vouchers or all
code improvements: so we can easily find the recorded entries.

As you suggest, dev-general is a good way to check if an item makes
sense to the
internal and external development community, but what should happen
after that,
when items are added to oxid.uservoice.com ?

Even if something isn't touched for a long time it doesn't mean it will
not be done at all :-) As I mentioned, there are a lot of requests (not
only from the existing community) a Product Manager has to consider.
The first step is about _recording_ the ideas so they will not be
forgotten

For example, it seems like the most popular item (B2B) has been there
for a long
time without really moving forward. I can fully understand that items
like this
are not easy or maybe even possible for OXID to implement, but items
need either
to move forward or should be killed.

B2B (catalog without tax) is essential, especially for
internationalization, and will be done at all hazards.
But the task is tricky: We probably have to change the calculation basis
which is a really huge task. It is still in conception on Ralf's desk.

My suggestion would be for OXID to add a note to all
oxid.uservoice.com items
that say something like:

That's actually what we do but not for all items. Some items need some
time to develop in a manner of getting a buzz and being emphasised by
the voices. Remember the image upload thing: I personally never never
ever expected this feature request to get such a big huge support.

Markus said:

I prefere the bugtracker. Just make a new category(s) for these
things.

Yes, actually me personally either, especially from handling etc. But as
I mentioned, there are some certain reasons against it :-(

The feature-request tool is for me more for users, not developers.

Right. Let's just make the best out of it ;) I really don't like the
idea of having yet another tool...

Anyway, a good idea and for me its not so importend, what interface I
use. The only, what I wanna is a nice view for code examples.

Good point! How about (mis-)using the wiki for code examples? It is big
enough, supports code highlighting, we could define a special area or
category for it and we could link from the certain uservoice entry to
the code in the wiki.

Hi everybody,

a while ago, I recorded this bug entry:
https://bugs.oxid-esales.com/view.php?id=2164 (URL link for DPD tracking hard
coded in tpl)

This issue is doubtless dirty, but trying to fix it, it will become a feature
request: Allow to enter tracking URL via admin panel or, alternatively, add
an appropriate config value. Moreover, only DPD as the only possible carrier
will be supported.

All of his is half hearted.

I suggested the following:
- ditch the DPD tracking completely
- use this module instead which is probably doing a better job:
https://projects.oxidforge.org/projects/carriertracking/

Let us know what you think about it. Can we really completely ditch the

Actually since these events are regional and distributed, IMHO it will be OK to
have the Stammtisches close in date to each other. What do you think?

Hi Ashant,

thanks for your feed back.
Actually, it is just a bit of organization. All we need is a reservation at a
big enough (round) table in a quite pub and a wiki page for ideas and
registration:

When would be a good time for this?
Let's see - we have this meet-up in Leipzig in March, the unconference in

Hi,

as far as I can see the new 4.5 is not put in the partner SVN yet - at least
not in the usual location /svnee/trunk/InstallationPackages.
Instead of that there is a new branch called features and in there one can
find the /svnee/branches/features/InstallationPackages/4.5.0.

Same thing with the PE version.

Will this structure stay in that way? Why was it changed?

No online shop I know uses a credit card surcharge and if you forget to check

Should I report this as a bug, or is there a reason for this cost, so that it

Re: [oxid-dev-general] Smarty Caching deactivated

Hi,

Anybody have a response to Leonard's original question regarding the
DOGER #655 comment in code? I'd also be interested in knowing why
smarty caching was switched off.

Sorry, can't tell you about the purpose of this comment but I know that @dodger
was one of the first developers ever for OXID eShop.
#655 probably refers to the old (closed) bugtracker we had.

I guess, this comment could be marked as deprecated or ancient if this is
possible :D

One of the main tasks of the upcoming maintenance panel will be the cache
handling. Could imagine that we will overwork this part of the code (and
comments :-)). Thanks for the hint so far.

Thanks for the replies. In my case much dynamic content is disabled

Sounds like I would benefit from just re-enabling caching and manually
deleting cached files when required. I'll try out the D3 module as
well.

Hi Norman,

don’t add these columns manually. The mentioned table is just a view and the
columns will be added automatically.
You just have to update the views in your shopadmin to get these columns added
to your view-table.

Stammdaten - Grundeinstellungen - Mall - Update Views

Maybe this function is moved to another place in the newest oxid-version, then
you have to check the manual.

Hope this answer helps you.

hi!

i just updated from 4.2.0._23610 to 4.4.8_34028 using the package
UPDATE_OXID_ESHOP_EE_V.4.2.0_23610_TO_V.4.4.8_34028 and following the
instructions at
http://www.oxid-esales.com/en/resources/help-faq/eshop-manual/update-one-release-another
 .

After successful installation i noticed mysql exceptions like this:

Exception 'ADODB_Exception' with message 'mysql error: [1054: Unknown column
'oxv_oxarticles_1.oxmpn' in 'field list'] in EXECUTE(select
oxv_oxarticles_1.oxid, oxv_oxarticles_
 [...] where 1 and oxv_oxarticles_1.oxparentid = '' LIMIT 0, 10)

As mentioned in the exception, the field (and several others) oxmpn from view
oxv_oxarticles_1 was missing. Trying to add these fields i ended up with the
following modifiation
of the view oxv_oxarticles_1 to solve my problems:

SELECT

  *

FROM `oxarticles`

WHERE (((`oxarticles`.`OXSHOPINCL` 1) 0)

i would like to know if my modification is right and if there might be some
other statements missing in the update-package mentioned above...

Re: [oxid-dev-general] New blog post: Language Translation Files Moved to OXIDprojects

2011-06-21 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hello Marc,

you're right. OXID projects is not a perfect solution for translations. But
before, we basically had two or more places were language translations went:
OXID projects SVN and OXIDforge wiki were you had to copy - paste entire
files... The less technical people didn't even know how to handle the wiki and
gave up translating, copy - pasted in a wrong encoding or simply uploaded files
to the forums. Also, most of the translators so far had a technical background.
The others mostly posted via the forums that they don't know where to upload
their files...

Despite this, I reckon the translation will become more complex in the future
thinking of the setup routine, demo data for products or the CMS data, where
you would need sql files as well.

Of course, I'd really like to have an inline translation tool, gettext or
similar support. If somebody of you guys had a great idea - your help is
appreciated!

Marco

Hi Marco

Thanks for informing us about this.

Though I am personally a big fan of law (rules) and order (structures) within a
FOSS project I fear that the use of a SVN repository as the place to store and
get language files from might hinder or at least introduce some insecurity to
the less technically adepted people.

And about the alternative of sending the translations to your email isn't the
ideal solution.

Let's assume a total new member of our fine community wants to do a translation
which he wants to share with us afterwards.

What are the steps or better said where and how do you lead this member?

I ask this question because the commitment of such people can rise or fall with
the leadership, starting with such simple tasks.

Hi everybody,

I'd like to draw your attention to this bug entry:
https://bugs.oxid-esales.com/view.php?id=3128

Warnings are shown in fresh installations of OXID eShop version 4.5.1 or
updated shops to v4.5.1 due to a bug in PHP on some file systems. The file
attached to the bug tracker is a workaround to fix this behaviour in
Community Edition. You will get similar files with this workaround for
Professional and Enterprise Edition from Partner SVN or by contacting our
support team.

The workaround will be implemented in v4.5.2.

BTW: Thanks to the community, this behaviour was quickly recognized in our

Subject: [oxid-dev-general] Voucherhandling

Hi,

@oxid-dev-team: I would like to hear your opinion about this:

When you limit the voucher-series a user-group, for example to
national-customers and the user isn’t logged in when he tries to use the
voucher, he gets an error because he isn’t in that group.
For the case he is logged in and matches the group the voucher is accepted…
but when user changes his address-information in Step 2 (user) the voucher
might be removed, because user isn’t in group any more.
I think the usability isn’t really good…

What about removing the voucher-box from order-step 1 (basket) and including it
in step 3 (payment)? Here you already have all
information about customer… Maybe there should also be added information like
Product-Sum-Price, Delivery-Costs, Voucher-Discounts, Payment-Cost,
Total-Order-Cost
to give the user an overview, because now we have the information about used
payment, shipping and vouchers.

By those changes vouchers could be extended in the future without taking a loss
in usability.
For example “Shipping-Free-Voucher for Users with National-Delivery-Address” or
something like that.

Hi,

Absolutely! Please consider that there are Non-Germans on this list, including

But yes, french translation would be great!

Can't tell you an exact date yet but I know that it cannot take too long as
Vikapera apparently is still working on it.

[oxid-dev-general] Manufacturer EAN?

2012-01-19 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hi everybody,

I was just pointed on the fact that we have a field in product items for
providing a so called Manufacturer EAN besides an EAN and a manufacturer
product number (MPN).

AFAIK, we have an EAN as a unique article number no matter who manufactured it.
Also I know that manufacturers often use their own product numbers in their
ERPs that is sometimes taken over by vendors and merchants.
I have never ever heard about a Manufacturer EAN.

Nonetheless: Is that field used for any other purpose in your projects?

Thanks and regards

Re: [oxid-dev-general] Bugs aka Feature Requests

2012-01-30 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hi,

I thought about it over the entire weekend as well, think Marc's thoughts are
right. Actually we introduced this tool to replace excel files that couldn't be
spread... If somebody has a better idea - tell it :-)

Also, uservoice is tended to just collect all feature requests. There are some
that have to be declined, some are not clear enough, some very project related
and do not fit a standard software. Also there is a bunch of already done
feature requests.
Please also notice, that this feature requests are only requests from the
existing community. While planning new versions we also have to consider other
stuff as well as you can imagine. Hence, we cannot guarantee that we will build
in all features, when we build them in nor can we promise any order.
Before touching a topic for a new release of course we check uservoice for
keywords to make sure we considered everything for the new version. Also, we do
read new entries (as we'll be informed by email).

Hope I could give an idea how it works... and BTW @Tobias - of course we highly
appreciate your bug reports.

Regards
Marco

Hi Tobias

The whole idea of this voting system is nice but when not handled correctly
it’s a major fail.
It shouldn’t surprise anybody why some ideas are ranked high and some haven’t a
single vote…
It’s always the same with a system where you can see the current result of the
voting before you read through and decide what to vote for.
Like that you get a monolithic voting graph every time you approach that idea…

I don’t say I have a better solution but why not take the current result, stop
the voting, reset all proposals (either just their votes, some bad/non
practical proposals or even all).
Then restart the voting while you make the best of the result of the last
“round” (whatever this could mean).
Like that you give those dead end proposals at least a slight chance to get
some votes.

Thanks

Hi folks,

in the past I reported bugs, that were moved to the feature request list.
One of those is this: https://bugs.oxid-esales.com/view.php?id=2598

It’s not, that I don’t agree – that could be seen as a feature request
(although I see it as a major bug, not to store if a newsletter-subscriber
wants the English or the German newsletter).

However, what really concerns me is that dead-end-feature-list.
I mean, this is a good idea (at least), as dainius bigelis stated, and it was
moved to the list nearly a year ago. Still, it has not a single vote. It lays
there between hundreds of zero-vote-ideas, not looked at from anybody.

This isn’t a call for votes, either.
I just annoys me that maybe hundreds of good ideas are in that unordered,
unusable feature request list, and the only way to get attention (and votes),
is to beg for them in forums, blogs, etc.

Thanks for thinking about it.

2012-02-14 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hi Marc,

in general, this is not that easy especially when features become complex.
Presently, I am looking for a doable way for getting user stories discussed
with the community and finally written down as a working plan for the
developers. Help appreciated :-)

Cheers

Hi Marco

I think these votings are a nice idea to let the Community interact more
directly with decisions of OXID and its development process.
Why not take some other interesting topics and possible decision making from
within OXID into the Community or may be also only into the dev list?

I’m thinking about a moderated way of talking about possible implementations of
features or how features are implemented.
It could be a valuable way of getting more, clear and specific feedback from
the Community on various topics, because I think if you don’t ask the questions
you will very rarely get an answer for various reasons.

By this you would give the community not only another way to contribute but you
also show them that you value their opinion…

Hi,
since 10th of february three versions of the 4.6 beta2 were checked into the
trunk of the CSV.
Why isn’t the features branch used for the beta updates?

Or is this a problem on my side? All three commits have a “(features branch)”
in their note, but I get them when updating the trunk.

the same problem every time ;)

@Oxid Team
Since Oxid is AFAIK the only shopping system which does not ship with a paypal
module you should consider to remove it from efire and publish a (open source)
module instead. Have you ever had a look at your efire accounts? How many of
them only use paypal and you never earned any money from them? I believe paypal
in efire just produces expenses for traffic and support and IMHO it doesn't
make any sense to pipe paypal payments through efire at all.

Thanks

Honestly (joking apart) – it would be helpful enough to provide the
portlet-modules inside eFire, maybe in an extra section and of course in both
php versions. There is no way to use them without an account for eFire, so you
are not going to lose anything.

Hi guys,

i don't know, if this is the right place to ask but i don't know a better one:

Could anyone explain to me, why the eFire Portlets are not available in the
eXchange?
It's so anoying! Each time we are in trouble with that, we had to write emails,
wait for the support to be online etc. pp.

Please guys - find a solution for that! You have the tools, you have the code
and you definitvely have not enough time to do the same things again and again
and again - like sending out modules via mail.

We just want to switch the PHP Version...

2012-04-16 Thread Marco Steinhaeuser
Hello Adrian,

do you know the word You can't catch two birds with one stone? :-))

Basically, OXID projects is a totally different topic to moving the core to
GitHub. Anyway, we already have that in our back heads. Maybe a good first step
would be to use GitHub as a mirror instead of the public SVN where we mirror
the development SVN now on a nightly basis:
http://svn.oxid-esales.com/

But also this step needs evaluation, thinking about the processes and some
effort within the infrastructure. That's why I can't promise any time frame for
that.

Thanks for your idea anyway :-)

marco.steinhaeu...@oxid-esales.commailto:marco.steinhaeu...@oxid-esales.com
Hello everybody,

OXID projects was set up nearly three years before under this location:
http://projects.oxidforge.org/

Originally, we wanted to use Canonical's Launchpad which was open sourced
around this time but we had to recognize that we couldn't even get it working
in a Ubuntu environment :D That's why we had to decide for FusionForge as a
technical basis for OXID projects.

In the mean time, we have nearly 50 projects and 110 registered users on this
system. That's actually not bad but let's face it - at the end of the day we
have to admit that OXID projects as it exist now, is not nice to handle -
probably clumsy would be the right word for it. And this is probably the most
certain reason why we are not working actively with it, right?

In the last few months I had a closer look at other systems and found out that
GitHub is probably the most interesting alternative:
- I installed an organization https://github.com/OXIDprojects/ so we can
still have all OXID related projects on one place.
- Git is a very modern and sophisticated VCS technology (in my eyes)
- GitHub has a very nice front end for git and is free in the basic version
- For me, the social components are very interesting, a lot of developers using
it and follow each other.
- forking possibilities with push and pull requests - one can have his own
repository or work together with others although you don't join the project.
- good possibilities for contributions... etc.
- each project comes with a wiki (which is very basic but is usable)
- each project comes with an issue tracker
- and last not least: I know that devs usually are a bit lazy concerning
writing texts etc. On GitHub, it is enough to leave a good description in the
README of your project. No hassle with mandatory forms, assignments etc...

Let me know what you think about it. Any objections?

Thanks and regards

Hallo,

$sCatID = $myConfig-getConfigParam('sBaumusterCatId');

Hauptkategorie (sBaumusterCatId)
- Unter 1
-- Unterunter 1

- Unter 2
- Unter 3

Das soll auch im Template verfügbar sein über [{assign var=obm
