I remember when this was the talk regarding Gen-Xer's (only because
that's my generation). I'm sure the baby boomers and others before
me heard about how their generation was worse than their parents.
I think it's just to get ratings. Next decade another story will
emerge.
Personally, I
A lot of great responses regarding how to make this interface better.
I agree with making it multi-step via wizard.
Honestly, I was so focused on the disappearing check boxes that I
didn't even read the div that appeared below the checked box. I
wanted to first figure out what happened to my
It all sounds so fascinating, but I'll have to meet you all in 2009
for the next conference. Funds won't allow two trips for 2008.
Anyway, I would love to hear all about it and I hope the speakers
will post their presentations.

Oleh, I'm sure Nielsen is flattered for your concern. :)
I think what you mention will be used in conjunction to usability
testing. But in order to collect analytics, you are assuming a live
site or at least a beta with lots of traffic. For new interfaces or
testing out a design prototype
Aren't solutions such as the airport security measures just another
way of designing for the user experience? Rather than tell the
consumer that the chances of 9-11 occuring again are slim, isn't it
easier to just put on a show and make people feel safe again?
Or perhaps TSA and their measures
I agree with educating people more. I found in user testing how much
people put themselves down when they are having a hard time with the
task. I tell them they are doing fine and if they can't find it, it
means it's not there. Figuratively speaking in most cases as it is
there, the design has
I think Murli said it all.
I am reminded of a story I read on another list regarding MB. The
poster told of the story of her company sponsoring an employee event
where they took the MB and discussed it as a team. They than lined
up the people according to their 4-letter designation. On one
My first reaction when I first heard of this method, oh, maybe a week
ago was I didn't like it - in fact, I would go so far to say, I
hated it. Than I saw this post and checked out the link and again, I
was thinking how frustrating it was.
But than Meredith mentions Google Reader uses this
How to prepare...
How can I practice UX research on my own? I've done plenty in
course projects, but from my experience, that's usually not enough
for employers. They want to see somebody who's taken the initiative
to apply their skills beyond what's been required. For IxD, the
obvious choice is
I'm a bit confused. You reference the fact that the form takes more
time and effort as meaning it's unusable.Efficiency (which is
what I assume you are referring to) doesn't just mean faster, it
means less wasted time. If the goal if the form was to be more
secure and adding more questions
I like Cindy's solution.
I would also like to share how this was handled on a board I
frequented. New people are encouraged to make themselves known to
others (via a post). A moderator would send them a welcome with
links to some old postings that had great information they may be
here seeking.
I am not familiar with Axure so am not sure if this answers your
question or not. You can make Visio clickable for some
interactivity.
In your Visio file, select the button/shape

GD may have profitability but do they have sustainability.
