Then get the 6.5.1 nightly (not 6.5.0) and install. Don't install any
plugins to start with.
Only when this works, go and get updated versions of any plugins you

If it does run into problems I won't be blaming Perl, which is plenty
fast in my experience, but the slimserver coders. The speed of software
is mainly impacted by poor design decisions.

I use my bedroom SB3 as an alarm clock, which usually works pretty well.
I use a Dutch public radio wma stream to wake me up with the news. This
morning slimserver was unable to connect to the wma stream. The alarm
didn't go off and I was late.
This was actually the second time it happened.
My request would be for slimserver to play an alert tone (or some
backup-mp3) if the alarm clock tune/stream cannot be played for some
reason.
Create a playlist with the stream at the top position. This will hopefully
play the second song if the station isn't available.

I've had the same happen to me. Luckily it was a weekend and I didn't
miss work.
I get around the problem by creating a play list with the radio station
first followed by a local song. That way when the radio fails to connect
the play list continues and plays the local file. :-)

OK - I uninstalled, deleted the directory, ran Registry Booster,
rebooted, deactivated McAfee virus, system guard, firewall and script
protections and finally reinstalled 6.5.1.
Result is exactly the same, I'm afraid. A web page full of (the same)

one thing i had to do recently was factory reset the SB.
unfortunately i forget how, i think u unplug it, plug it back in, and

Just bought a SB3 to stream music wirelessly around the house. I am
really pleased with the installation but the am surpised the sound is
so quiet. I really have to turn the amp up (12 O clock position ) to
get a reasonable volume, especially compared to my old CD player .

of support. Whenever I've needed to switch stereo to mono I've just
used a splitter cable. Hasn't ever caused a problem for me, but of

No RTSP entries means AlienBBC is not installed properly. I can't
explain the 6.5.0 but without RTSP in the filetypes - Slimserver will
not process the BBC urls correctly in particular the rpm file so my
guess is that something is being picked up wrongly - do you have 6.5.0
and 6.5.1 installed

There is a small bug in AlienBBC which affect the naming of RealAudio
playlists (.ram files) but it needs Alien 1.06 6.5.1.
The attached file will fix it - it goes in Plugins/Alien/Playlists.
Save original, then unzip and replace.
Some minor points re Cricket.
1. It's possible that BBC 5 Live internet commentary is UK only.
2. There is a bug in mplayer which means Radio4 LW doesn't work.

I don't have any antivirus on my slimserver (on WinXP, currently running
SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 10751 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252)... I get
occasional .MY* crashes nonetheles - and I don't have any plugins
installed, either.
I tend to only be running one player at once, 99% of the time
Mine has crashed twice in the last hour.
How can I get an older version to install?
Would a clean install be worth a try? What's the best way to do that?
