It all depends indeed on how the system will be used. But in any case,
for professional use I would tend to spread out the speaker system. It
means that you would have more speakers, but the result is that the
sound is more evenly spread all over the area.

No, BMF will display what you have on the disk, not what's in the DB.
Then how would one organize 6000 various titles.
There are apps out there which can reorganize your files according to
album/artist tags etc.

I recently shut down and unplugged by SBR when going away for the
weekend. Ever since I've been back, I haven't been able to get it to
work again. The SBR led was blue and the SBC did not list the SBR as
one of the available players (I also have a SB3 that is still working

i found some cheap stands on audioadvisor.com that fit my A5s perfectly
(bringing tweeters ~ ear level at typical listening position), and also
bought some rubber-feet for isolation. i painted the stands white. it
looks and sounds fantastic, no one would think it's a $1k setup. still

You can use MediaMonkey to fix this if you want and I would highly
recommend that you do fix it. Mediamonkey can organize your library

Since iPod Touch is $299 and Duet Controller is $299 it's tough choice.
I've used an iPhone and the screen is very good.
I realize the iPod Touch would not be as customized as a Duet
Controller but it would be very versatile.
Has anyone compared the pros and cons of each?

Well, IMO, the only shortcoming is you need two fingers to scroll down
page, hopefully with the upcoming software version 2.0, the problem
will be resolved.
