Multiroom is working pretty well with CCA, but it's currently not
working for everyone for strange reasons. I'm sure it's just a WIP
issue. But the CC Standard itself seems to be developing nicely. App
support is growing steadily, so I guess it's here to stay. I certainly

dev work is required, since that is what the CC was built for. So,

One HUGE plus for Chromecast Audio: Google Play Music support. I really

really love Qobuz for their wonderful, lossless audio quality, but Play

I can't answer this fully, since I have only one "real" SB devices, and
that's a SB Radio (no great sound there...) but the HifiBerry devices
are pretty good, I have them all (DAC/Digi/Amp) and you can always look
at one of the alternatives, like the IQAudio addon boards.

The Digi is completely unproblematic since it merely passes the digital
data through to an external DAC. My only problem with RPi and Dac/Digi
is the fact that it's one more device with it's own cables and

Chromecast, but to teach LMS (or rather a LMS Plugin) the Cast Protocol.

I really hope you succeed! If you can bring the popular streaming

Well, there is no question that Logitech could return to this market,

Luckily we have the Odroid U3 as a Server device (Max2Play Image) and
the PiCorePlayer for Raspberry Pi with the Hifiberry DAC, Digi and Amp,
so we have everything Sonos offers and more. Of course it's not quite as

While this sounds interesing, it does not (IMHO) fix the real problem,
which occurs during recording. So much music, especially classical
music, is already crippled with auto-gain, bad mic placement (too close,
too far, too many, too few) and similar issues.

from the incomplete FLAC selection and the can't skip inside tracks

Albums that were mp3 back in January, and they still are mp3...they
claim their whole catalogue is FLAC, but that's sadly far from the

That is actually very true. The first recording in the Wimp HiFi test
sounded better to my ears in the lossy version, because it was less
noisy. I would have taken that noise as compression artefacts, but it
was most likely part of the original recording.

Since I currently can't test Wimp myself (just expired): what are the
changes over the MySqueezebox Plugin? Is the skipping within Flac files
working? Does Wimp finally have some kind of radio mode? Are the longish
delays for starting tracks gone? Any other changes?

If I take two CDs with the same name, cover, production year, tracks
and everything and put them in the same player, then I expect them to
sound the same. If they don't, I'll buy the one that sounds better to my
ears.
Actually, what I really wanted was for somebody to verify the audible
difference with this particular track. This is not about the service as
a whole. Professional magazines already did that and found that both
have their better and worse sounding tracks with Qobuz having a slight
advantage.

They advertise that their entire catalogue is FLAC, but their CS is
aware of the large gaps. The stupid thing is, they are not fixing it. I
reported a couple of Albums that are only mp3 at the beginning of this
year, and they're still mp3...
