At the same location you also find a version file it is that one that
tells LMS that's it time to update .
So just place the new fw file and version file in updates folder and
restart LMS .

Another use for EDO is USB only DAC's . They are quite common , the idea
behind them is to have good computer audio and USB is commonly found on
computers . Now you can utilise such a product on a Touch .

would start working properly .
But they rely on proper metadata in the files themself .

Your LMS is probably not communicating with mysqueezebox.com .
Did you enter your credentials in LMS ?
I would check the network settings especially DNS settings in the NAS .
What's in the log files ?
Reboot the NAS , does it work now ?

Why i wanted to pull the plug was to test if the root cause is that the

Syncing a real player with a random computer puts in a lot of unknowns

Cool speakers :) Then an unmodified Touch would do just fine , that's

SB3 supports 24/48khz so it's at least 24 bits .
A Touch or Transporter also have better spdif outputs with lower jitter
