project, if anyone had the necessary skills etc. Must be possible given
the success of Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Kickstarter, 'maker' culture etc -
'print' your own Squeezebox at home even? ;) It would also bring it full
circle,

a refreshed line-up, or something.

that it's probably -accurate-. It was more that this is
something that could be presented in a positive way ('excellent sound
quality') rather than a negative way ('very low distortion').
Similar to how a food item will be advertised as '95% fat free' rather
than '5% fat' ;)

I used to run Slimserver on XP but moved to Ubuntu, and am very happy
with that decision. Faster player response times and fewer 'quirky'
episodes, ie just more rock solid generally ;)

experience, unfortunately. Earlier in the year I spotted
Squeezeboxen at a couple of John Lewis's, and also once at a PC World.
Now they all seem to have vanished. No longer appears on
www.johnlewis.com either, not even as an out of stock item :(

an SB3 which now sits on
top of a Tivoli Model 1, and if I want to listen to AM, I have to move
the SB3 elsewhere (or simply remove the power lead, which is easier).
Otherwise the interference is too great.

- still haven't really decided whether that's justified overall,
but with that too, the SBs are now pretty much rock solid. As long as I
don't dabble with internet radio, which tends to cause 'interesting'
things to happen.
