I've had my SB3 for just over a week and a must say - GREATE. The
network was found very quikly and the SB3 was up and running within
minuets. My concerns wasn't the hardware but the a little bit boring
black looks compared to the fantastic sliver version!

Want to utilise the amp in my study from softsqeeze on my pc about 5
feet away. Sound card on pc has desktop speakers in it.

Well, if you don't want to use the desktop speakers any more its easy:
just get a 2m cable with a 3.5mm stereo jack at one end, and 2 phono
jacks at the other. Readily available at any audio cable webshop.
If you want the desktop speakers connected as well, you'd need some
kind of splitter.

its gonna go mad no matter what. But why would do you need a switch?
why would you have the amp on when you weren't intending on having loud
music playing?

still get the same problem. If I use the radio on the SB3 no problem,

Tried various different things but still can't get it to just stay on
24/7. It's fine when I'm actually playing music and swithcing between
albums etc, but if I leave it alone, whether in standby or playing on

Take a look at the wiki page quoted, the headphone out contains a
low-cost amplifier chip. If you amplify an already-amplified signal,

I'm very happy with my Harmony universal, but it was a lot more
expensive than the original. Plus side it replaced all my other
remotes, and is RF so I don't have to be in the same room to adjust the
volume.

I had the same speaker choice dilemma when I bought a SB3. I opted for
the AudioEngines which at GBP200 weren't the cheapest but in terms of
performance, aesthetics and WAF, they are probably the best electronic
thing I have bought. Ever.
Ended up with a very nice minimalist setup and I've got

I just migrated from PC to Mac and am no administering my SlimServer
from a Mac Mini running Leopard with the latest version of slimserver.
It all went pretty smoothly EXCEPT when i log on to the browser there

Sorry to hear about your frustration, but the fact is that SlimServer
has never been intended to organize your music. Indeed, the software
deliberately avoids modifying any music files at all on your disk, and
this has been a conscious design principle since version 1.0.
