I don't know if it will help but try these two things. First of all, you should have at least 10% free space on any hard drive, optimally 15 - 20%. After freeing up some space I'd try defragmenting the drive. When a volume get's really full like that things can get pretty messy. But be sure

Well I did own a Neuston media box that does video quite well and MP3s very poorly. Not a bad box if you use it mostly for video, as a music box it is close to unusable for me in terms of ergonomics and sound quality. Not sure what the status of the company is.
