I am now running 2187 on the remote and fw 23 on the SBC. I think I may
be on to something. I had previously been connecting the SBC to a
Linksys 8 port switch (model EZXS88W ver 3.1) and then on to my
Actiontec MI424-WR Rev C router. I connected the SBC directly to the
Actiontec router
The backlight is specced by its manufacturer for a minimum lifetime of
50,000 hours... but frankly I'd be quite pleased if _I_ ever manage to
outlive an LED.

I'd be interested to know this as I use mine to constantly show the
analogue clock (well, when it's not showing the firmware upgrade screen
anyway). I have begun to worry that I might be shortening the life of

Try not to write off the audioengine5's based on the 'boominess' reviews
here without listening to them first. I find that as long as you don't
place the speakers too close to the rear wall or room corners then they
deliver a tight and musical bass. I've listened to almost all of the

A contrarian view: Logitech r-20 is best value for money. Small
footprint. Nice sound, front on/off button, headphone socket volume
knob. Perfect for a bedside system.
The Audioengines are way overpriced. The A2 doesn't even have a front
volume control.

My receiver does the same thing. The light goes off when I first turn
the unit 'off' with the controller. A few minutes later the white light
comes back on (though not as bright as when the unit is in 'on' mode).
It seems like it should be one way or another. Either the light just

I used to connect my xbox360 via squeezebox 3 to my wireless, now I just
couldn't find this feature in my duet. Where
should it be enabled, or should I just hack it with 'brctl' from the
shell? It at least didn't work out-of-the-box.

Strangely I was in the process of removing the optical connection in
favour of analogue to see if that helped.

start up errors when slim server was running on boot up. I decided to
uninstall and install the latest version, and here is where I am
running into problems.
When I get to the config screen asking for my username and password,

I now experience exactly the same issue: some files with special
characters (eg. ü in Ouvertüre) do not play. I am using the iTunes
integration and all my files are in Apple Lossless format.

You might take a look at Media Jukebox (http://mediajukebox.com/)
It is a free, pared down version of J. River Media Center. Don't know
if it removes enough of the bloat to make a difference, but it is a
familiar interface and has the functions you want.

My memory is that bridging
In settings go to Players/Audio. There are a number of options there for
setting delays which are used during sync. I would start by adding small
amounts to Player Audio Delay for the _other_ players, e.g. the ones
which are not going through the soundbar. This will have the effect of
delaying

I had this on mine. Stop it running, do a search to find any config
files (both squeezecentre and slimserver) it has set up, delete them
and it should start up ok.

Still stutters. I have also turned off the cordless phone next to the

using an ethernet cable but all of this doesn't stop the stuttering. i

I also moved the receiver downstairs again next to the computer and the
music stops stuttering. So there is some interference somewhere but
even putting an airport next to the receiver doesn't help.

only happens in certain time of the day, like evenings, but not in the

I have had Netgear HDX101B powerline ethernet convertors connecting my
SB3 and QNAP101 since Oct 2006 and have had no problems. Initial
waking up of Slimserver etc takes approx 30seconds from pressing Start
and play from stopped position. Music on QNAP in mixed formats such as

should still be an enhancement request for this. No idea if or when it

Hmm. Well I'm glad it's not just me :)
It has to be something strange with their particular stream and
something in the SB3's ability to decode it correctly; I just went
into the SqueezeCenter prefs and turned on 'Proxied Streaming', and the
SB plays it fine now.

How many do you want? :) There's probably a point where it becomes
tricky from a network management point of view but I would think
anything up to 100 or so should be fine if you have the bandwidth. I've
had up to 3 on my network here.

I'd be a bit more conservative. But 20 or
20 or 100.It doesn't really matter. It is has to be a big house before
you need that many :)

Well, Sander, I've only had it three days, but the Squeezecenter
streaming is differnt from the widgets, which, as you point out, can
include something you didn't ask for. The music streaming is a
different application: all you have to do is put in your SC7 IP address
and it will stream whatever
Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but isn't one supposed to be able
to use Rhapsody over two synchronized devices? I have a Transporter and
a Squeezbox. If I have them both on and synchronzed, Rhapsody plays one
song and stops (I'm attempting to play any Rhapsody channel). If I only
have one
It doesn't matter if I turn it off via a web browser or my Controller -
same result. Not a huge deal to me but very strange.

It appears that you can no longer browse to All Songs and just start
playing all the tracks from the Songs directory from the Squeezebox
Interface.
I used to be able to do this when I wanted to just shuffle my entire

I did some extensive testing today and I hope I'm doing something wrong
but my finding is that my old Yamaha CDC-585 is significantly better
sounding :(
