You could probably pick up a Logitech Harmony 550 remote fairly cheap on
eBay. It isn't that difficult to program, and all the IR codes for the
SB Classic and SB Touch are already in the database. I have a Harmony
One, a Harmony 880, and a Harmony 550, so I'm not talking out of my
butt here... :)

No, it doesn't. The only way it can affect 'sound quality' is if it's so
slow or overloaded with other tasks that it can't keep the audio buffer
sufficiently filled on the Squeezebox and you experience dropouts.
Otherwise, it just needs to keep feeding data across the network, which
is trivial

I've been having problems since 7.5.3.
I've reverted to 7.5.2 and now to 7.5.0 without success.
I believe at least one other user was still having problems even after
reverting to an earlier version.

Try 7.5.4. It has worked for me. The sync problems and the problem with
my SB3 loosing its connection has all gone away.

Since a few days I'm having trouble when playing squeezebox (Touch).
Don't know what's up since it has played without problems for years.
The symptoms: when Squeezebox (Touch) plays, the server computer starts
to lag up to the point that it can hardly be used anymore. Mouse trail
is very slow,

I'm a touch and radio user and knows nothing about a reciver without an
controller.
To me it looks that you have some sort of connection problem to
mysb.com, is your preferenses set up OK?

I have used mine on static ip since 2006 ? But ocasional xilink and
factory resets have been done.
But i have also runned 7.5 beta before 7.6 so it just works ?

Hmmm if going back to 7.5.2 didn't help and before you upgraded to 7.5.3
you didn't have any problems, then this must be something from outside.
Either that or the installation of 7.5.3 upgraded something 7.5.2 can't
downgrade.

Ogg especially with low bitrates is problematic for the SB2/3/reciever,
I think it's somewhat cpu demanding for the player. So SB2's ogg
abilities does not cover all ogg compression rates + some other

I can't find Setting menu of the SqueezePlay program
It should be there under Audio Settings. Are you successfully
connected to your local Squeezebox Server ? The Choose Player option
won't appear until you are.
