Some routers has a country setting or similar that turns on the channels above 11 or different firmware, my old netgear had a US and non US firmware. I think ch13 are illegal to use in US but it is not likely that a SWAT team will knock down your door for that. -- Mnyb

for both the torrents and the music, the speed is not as high as one thinks in practice. So an ethernet wire for the HTPC server will solve a lot problems for you. Or maybe you could put any old PC closer to the router and wire it and run a torrent client on that ? -- Mnyb

i to play an 24 bit 96kHz file this will also get transcoded. Or wma lossles or alac will be transcoded for all players. exception WAV is for example per default transcoded to flac to save wifi bandwidth, even if the player can handle it. (this can be turned of ). -- Mnyb

processor that does handle volume and room compensation and some actually useful DSP modes and sub woofer management in the digital domain, so letting it work with the highest possible resolution in the source material would probably make the DSP processes more accurate. -- Mnyb

for other reasons than the most obvious ones... Dito i can downsample one stream with my 1,2 ghz mini-itx so syncing my 3 players is not a problem, but listening to 2 different 24/96 files would make it drop the ball . -- Mnyb
