First, some clarifications:

Your SB3 is connected via LAN (wired) to a wireless bridge.
The bridge is a separate device, i.e. you do not use the bridge feature
of the SB3, right?

SqueezeConfig will never change the settings on its own.
If you select a player in SqueezeConfig, it will ask you if it should
use the Wifi values of your phone. If you select NO, you will see the
unaltered settings of your SB3. (At least, that's the expected
behaviour. If it behaves differently, it's a bug.)

Have you tried a factory reset of the SB3?
The SB3 can only be found by SqueezeConfig if it is in Setup mode, e.g.
after a factory reset.
Press-Hold the + button on the SB3 remote while plugging in the power
cable.
This should factory reset the SB3 and it should be found by
SqueezeConfig (the SB3 needs to be connected via LAN cable in this
case!).

But why exactly do you need to re-configure your SB3 every day?
Does it lose its connection to the server?

If yes:
At which point does it lose the connection?
After a server restart?

You may want to try to set a static IP for the SB3 (using
SqueezeConfig). This often helps a lot.

BTW: If the SB3 loses its connection to the server after a server
restart, it's often enough to *restart* the SB3 to reconnect.
In SqueezeConfig, you can long-press on a player and select Reset.
This will restart the SB3, but keep the current values.

If you are using SqueezeCommander, you can also reconnect an
unconnected SB3 from within SqueezeCommander, i.e. you do not need to
use SqueezeConfig in this case.
SqueezeConfig is only needed for the initial setup.

Hmm, ok, I'll try it as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, FB has killed my test account, so I need to create a new
one first... :-)

I know that the SB FB App caused some trouble in the past (not only on
SqueezeCommander, but on every remote, i.e. also on the SB Controller
or on a SB Touch...), but I'm not sure if it should work now.

Ok, I tried it now, but it worked fine with SBS 7.6.2, SBS 7.7.1 and
directly with MySB.com.

The only problem is that an empty page is opened when I tap on Post to
Facebook, but the same problem exists on e.g. a SB Touch...

Yes, I remember, I had that problem in an earlier version.

I think it was because the FB menu give 0 items and I did not check for
that...

Anyway, I've already fixed that some time ago... And it works fine

No, IMHO you need a remote to reset the SB3.

But you could try another remote.

If I remember correctly, JVC remotes (and maybe others) should be
compatible.

But what does the SB3 do if you restart it? (i.e. power cycling)

Please make sure that Sort Albums by Name is NOT enabled in
SqueezeCommander's Settings.

If it is not enabled, but the albums are still not sorted by year,
please drop me a line, because that would be a bug.

SongInfo plugin (if you are running a local SBS/LMS).

Hmm, sounds like a MySB problem (player registered by another user to
squeezebox.com).
All other problems are possibly related.

Are you sure that you've used the same MySB credentials on your SBS
(WebUI: Server Settings / mysqueezebox.com) and on your Touch (while
connected to MySB, navigate to Settings / Advanced Settings /
Squeezebox Information / mysqueezebox.com directöy on your Touch)?

Can you see your Touch when you login on http://www.mysqueezebox.com?

Well, making it appear on GoogleTV market is indeed very easy, but the
whole UI needs to be changed to actually have a *useful* App. :-)

the tablet version has a much higher priority...

As plugins do not work on the Touch, this will only work using a web
lookup at wikipedia, google and others.

Actually, this web lookup feature is on my TODO list, but I'm not sure
when I'll be able to implement it. (Ticket #229)

BTW: I just tried it here and for me, SqueezeCommander always shows the
Track Artist (but not the Album Artist) on the NowPlaying screen and in
the Album view.

Please try to uninstall/reinstall SqueezeCommander (maybe the
installation did not go through because of the crash) and
shutdown/reboot your phone afterwards.

Does that work?

If not: Can you reach mysqueezebox.com from a browser on your phone?

Sorry for the late reply, I was knocked out by some kind of influenza
in the last few days.

Is your server maybe available as remote *and* as local server?
(I.e. you've manually added the same server via DynDNS name?)

I've added a stupid bug in 0.9.6.3 that will cause such a problem in
this case.

A workaround for now is to Ignore the local server and use the remote
server only.
(Press the (  ) more button of the local server and select Ignore
Server.)

I'm working on an updated version at the moment and will release it
within the next few days. Probably later today or tomorrow.

I really do not like the Amazon App Store rules (i.e. you give them the

on most other tablets (e.g. the Nook), you should be able to install

stores.

Yeah, the Archos 101 is not really good.
I also have one (and a 2.8 Archos), but I virtually never use it,
because of the crap sreen and the very, very poor battery.

I really like my GalaxyTabs (7 and 10 ). They are a bit more
expensive but indefinitely better. :-)

The only feature that is affected by the UDP bug is the 'catch lost
players' that I've added in the newest version.
I.e. reconnect an ip3k player (SB3, Transporter, Receiver, Boom) that
has lost the connection to its server.

Everything else will work fine.

It does only require a wired LAN connection for the *initial* setup.

If you have an unconnected player (e.g. Receiver LED=blue), it should
also be found by SqueezeConfig via Wifi.

But if you already tried it, it will probably still not work with your
phone...

I haven't changed anything in the requirements/permissions since
0.9.6.2, so it should work.
It only needs a touchscreen, Wifi and Android 1.5+.
The Market developer console also lists the GT-I9000 as supported
device for SqueezeCommander...
Strange...

Have you tried to complete uninstall and reinstall SqueezeCommander?

Or you could try to contact Google Market support, maybe they can
help...

Do you have a HTC device?
The same restrictions apply as for SqueezeConfig, i.e. it will not run
on several HTC devices because of a bug in their firmware.
(They filter out UDP broadcasts, but these are needed for the discovery
packets...)

If SqueezeCommander finds an unconnected player, it will show a new
'fake server' called 'unconnected players' in the PlayerServerScreen.
You can longpress the unconnected player there and select 'reset' or
shortpress it and select a new server for it.

with my main server (7.6.2 with pw protection).

same, but the bug seems to be different.
I'm stuck in the user/password screen, if I enter my credentials, it
just reappears (with empty fields).

It includes a subset of the SqueezeConfig features (i.e. you cannot
setup a Receiver from scratch with SqueezeCommander, but if the
Receiver is unconnected (blue LED), you can move it to another server

The newest SqueezeConfig version will expire 2011-12-31, so just update
and it will work again.

Yeah, with every new SDK version, Google updates their (ant based)
build chain.
Too often, I need to manually update my build.xml afterwards...

In this case, the new Android tools do not automatically create .apks
from within Eclipse anymore.
This is not a problem for the ant build chain (that I'm using for
SqueezeCommander).
But for SqueezeConfig, I was still using a manually hacked ant script
that requires the actual .apk file to be built by Eclipse.
Well, I think it's time to update SqueezeConfig to an ant build as
well. :-)

(PS: I just tried to do that, but in the middle of creating the new
build.xml for SqueezeConfig, I had a power outage. Great fun! I spent
the last couple of minutes to run around and restart all servers/PCs...
Hopefully nothing severe happened to my data...)

MAJOR CHANGES:
- Completely reworked Sync behaviour (should work much better on slow
NAS)
- Catch lost/unconnected players
- Added a workaround to avoid false DB resyncs (SBS issue)
- Fixed a bug that caused the DB sync to stop sometimes
- Added root ('/') as Download Storage option
- Use AlbumArtist for Downloads
- SBS DB Rescan can now be initiated (try the more button right of a
server name)
- Server Settings Web page can be opened (also at the more button)
- Fixed some issues with the Spotify plugin
- HomeMenu is fully customizable now (try the EditMode button in the

Please try what toby told you in the other thread (create account on
MySB, factory reset Touch, enter MySB credentials in Touch setup and in
the SBS settings).

In SqueezeCommander, tap on the more (  ) button right of
MySqueezebox.com, select 'MySB registration' and enter the same
credentials here.

Just remember:
As long as your player is connected to MySB, you cannot play local
music from you SBS, you can only play Internet Radio or Music Services
in this case.

You do not have a WLAN at all?

In this case, you can control your players with SqueezeCommander via 3G
internet.

If you have a local SqueezeBoxServer, you need to open port 9000 TCP in
your router and add the server manually in SqueezeCommander. (Don't
forget to set a password!)
If you are using MySqueezeBox.com as server, it should work
out-of-the-box, no need to change anything on your router.

It depends.

I assume you do not have a local computer running the SqueezeBoxServer
software, right?
Have you attached a harddisk/SD card to the Touch?
Or are you not playing any local music files at all?
(I.e. you only access Internet Radio and/or Music Services like
Rhapsody, Spotify...)

A SqueezeBox is always connected to exactly one specific server.

This can either be

1.) A local computer running the SBS software
2.) The Tiny-SBS within the SB Touch (only if you connect a HDD via USB
or a SD card)
3.) MySqueezeBox.com

In case 1.) and 2.), you need to open port 9000 on the router and
manually point SqueezeCommander to your server.

In case 3.), you can control your SB Touch through the MySB website or
by using SqueezeCommander. (No other steps necessary.)

It will now use the last rescan time from the server and if that
differs, it will do a resync.

But you are right, the expiration is pretty inconvenient.
The current version works ok, and it will probably never leave the
current Beta state.
I thought about putting it in the Market, but the the are too many
prerequisites (no HTC phone, Receiver must be connected via LAN...),
i.e. it will not work for many people out-of-the-box.
Therefore, I would probably get a lot of support requests, and in the
end get a bad rating.
Anyway, I'll remove the expiration and the PW protection this evening.

That's the expected behavour.
Installed apps are now shown on the root level as well, but you can
remove all items that you do not want to show there.
(Either use the EditMode and unselect the menu entry, or longpress on
the entry and select 'remove from home menu'.)

PS: Yes, Beta stuff probably fits better in Trac than here in this
forum.
This thread is also SqueezeCommander's support thread and if we talk
about non-existent features, it may cause confusion...

1.) It depends a bit on the actual 7 device, but yes, SqueezeCommander
should run fine on it.
I'm using a Galaxy Tab 7 here and I can really recommend it.

2.) You can disable the Screen timeout within SqueezeCommander
(Settings/Keep Screen On).
Furthermore, most Android devices have an option to keep the screen on
while connected to the power supply.
I'm not sure if some kind of burn in is still an issue with modern
screens, but that may be a problem if you keep the screen running 24/7
for several months...

3.) You probably do not really need the Controller anymore. Only if you
have the SB Receiver as well, you may need it for re-running the setup
of the Receiver. (Depending on your Android device, you could replace
it with my SqueezeConfig App.)
And of course, you could use the Controller as a second mobile remote
control.

But to be useful, they need to be pretty big and that really looks
clunky... :-/
(If you are using the IR-Blaster plugin, the volume slider is already
replaced by Vol +/- buttons and well, they do not look good...)

BTW: You know that you can also use the hardware Vol+/- buttons of your
phone?

You are probably right that downgrading or altering the source code is
not easy for most people.

But regarding the higher price compared to iPeng: The problem is that
there are probably a lot less people installing and buying a SBS plugin

pay for a good piece of software...

 Well, I've just tried to use my long-standing, pre-existing installation
 of Multi-Library, which I was not aware of upgrading, and it's
 demanding the licensing plug in. That appears to be retrospective
 charging, in that it disables an existing service and then demands
 payment without notice, and would therefore appear to be illegal under
 EU law.
 

Have you maybe activated automatic plugin updates on the SBS?

BTW: Remember, Erland's plugins are open source!

I still do not understand your legal issues here.

IMHO it's pretty simple:

Erland's plugins are released under GPL license.
You can get the source for *all* plugins and *all* versions on his
google code page.

If you were using his plugins before he introduced the License check,
you can still use these versions for free. They do not include any
License check and will work without the need to pay Erland a single
dollar.

Only if you use the newer versions of his plugins (i.e. the versions
AFTER he implemented the License check) will not work without a
license.

If your SBS is set to Install plugin updates automatically, this may
of course cause the plugin to be updated even if you do not want it.

In this case, you can downgrade the plugin version by download an older
version from Erland's page.

Nothing is taken away from you. You can still use the old versions for
free.

PS: I hope that enough people will support Erland and buy a license.
I once was the main dev of an open-source application with a user base
of around 400k users and the development was pretty time-consuming.
I asked for some donations and of the 400k people, I think 5-10 people
have donated.
So, IMHO, donations are a great idea, but it does not really work,
because there are not enough people ready to donate.
(I donated to Erland before and also bought a license now, but most
people probably did not.)

That works fine.

Until a month ago, my SBS was running on a MacMini G4 1.3Ghz running
Debian Linux.

The speed was totally sufficient for SBS, I just had a HDD crash on the
MacMini and then switched to an Atom based Linux server, because I also
wanted to be able to decode Videos on this box (it's connected to my
TV).

Yes, that's the expected behaviour.

A folder is only treated as album if there are no subfolders.
If there are subfolders, the touch-to-{play,add,...} action is disabled
and a context menu will open with the available actions.

One reason for this is that Play other tracks should also work for
folders.
But this does NOT work for folders with subfolders, because
SqueezeCommander could start playing the whole folder, but is not able
to jump to the selected track afterwards...

Hmm, it should work over 3G.
In your case, the connection times out, i.e. the connection seems to be
too slow and the SBS does not answer in time.

BTW: I know, the Download feature could use some improvements.
I'll add some more management features (e.g. restart failed download)
in the future.

The PlayMode icon will only be shown on pages that have playable items,
i.e. on an album or a playlist (not on the current playlist, because
PlayMode does not make sense there).

Just go to

Home Menu / Albums / Album XYZ

and you'll see the PlayMode icon.

There is no party mode in SqueezeCommander yet.
It's on my TODO list, but there are other features with a higher
priority.

For now, you can only set the playmode to add to end and hope that
nobody changes this setting...

It's charged by your MySB.com identity (=MySB email address).

If you have several servers, all connected to the same MySB.com

*Therefore I need someone with a big library on a slow NAS who is
suffering from incomplete DB syncs.*
I.e. SqueezeCommander stops at 'DB sync (xxx items left)'.

I do not have this problem here, therefore it's difficult for me to
troubleshoot it...

That should work.

Have you tried the latest version (0.9.6.2)?

Older versions did not connect to private IPs unless you are connected
to Wifi.
(You could disable this by setting Settings / Wifi Settings / Ignore
Wifi Status.)
