I agree with Lee. Worked the DX contest with the C-Line and L4B last
weekend. Worked everything I could hear (even the 100 watt "weak
ones"),1st or 2nd call. Lots of smiles. The band-pass and notch are
a superb contest combo. What more could you want?
The R4C beats my Icom every time.

What kind of "Y" connector are you using at the jack on the R4C?
I've found the common 3 inch pig-tail Y adapter loads down the PTO on
10 and 15, giving odd readings.
Try using a compact one piece unit (a tight fit), but should solve
the problem. Also make sure the contacts on the
eiver off for a minute or two will light the lamp but
does not actually fix the problem.

mud (carbon composition) resistor would probably have gone
up in value but a film resistor could take it and stay
stable. Nonetheless, I think I would replace it with a good
film resistor of the specified power capacity.

I use a DFD103 on my C line. Not a very "large" display, but nicely
backlit, works well and easy to read. Just use a good quality double
female to single male RCA adapter when you plug the display into the
R4C. The display will read either VFO your using. Also, don't use a
"Y"
I also agree with Ron on this one. The 3-500's work best with 100
watts of drive. Less won't make them last any longer even though it
seems counterintuitive. Try and find a way to get 220 in to the
shack. Do it when the wife is out of town because it may involve
drilling some holes. You

I have a MN2700 that is no longer reading correct forward or reflected
power. It also is not reflecting the correct output power.
These tests have been done using a DL300 dummy load and a TR7.
I've tested using another trusted device, a MN-2000, which shows correct
readings for SWR and out

sometimes the lead from the tube breaks off and you are
cooked. I think all the solder joints around the plate cap
are subject to enough heat from the tubes to be affected
over a long period of time and, after all, these
transmitters are getting old.

My T4XC began providing full output on cw regardless of where the drive control
was set--even all the way CCW. Normally on CW you have to advance it beyond 12
o'clock for full output.

e transmitter but did when put on either a
socket extender or tube tester. _That_ turned out to be the
tube pins and working them over with a wire brush cured the
problem.
