Hi,
My K2 is fast approaching it's 5th birthday and soon after I built it I
expressed a wish that it would be nice if VFO's A B retained the mode
they were set for. ie so you could use CW on VFO A and SSB on VFO B
As the K2 was originally regarded as CW only by most,it probably didn't
What's the best way to get at the mic. AF line without going through the mic.
connector?
I want to use it for audio input from the soundcard for data modes.
Thanks and 73

I see that the advised maximum is 5 watts for RTTY. Is it possible to run up
to 10W for:
a) contest RTTY where the average QSO length is less than a minute?
b) lower duty modes eg PSK31, MFSK and Olivia?
What limits the power, anyway? Is it cooling or the rating of the output
transistors?

Bob,
You might want to take a look at my website http://w3fpr.qrpradio.com Switchbox
article for some ideas about how to accomplish the switching external to the
K2. The K2 Fixed Audio Output article may also be of interest to you - I no
longer have kits, but I do have boards available.
Phil,
I think you may be referring to my K2 Fixed Audio Output. See my website
http://w3fpr.qrpradio.com for details. I no longer have the kits, but I do
have boards available.
Not yet on the website yet, I have successfully mounted the board on the
back of the Control Board in a K2/100 and
If it would be possible to do that (retain mode per VFO) I would like that
very much.

Have ANT-1 and ANT-2 track with VFO-A and VFO-B.
I added a SPDT switch as per an Elecraft suggestion that directs both Ant-1
and Ant-2 to the Ant-1 jack. This gives me two separate

I agree in the case where I send you a personal email then block your

Don,
You may have missed the point. The original post was regarding someone
complaining about hitting a spam filter when respond to an inquiry made TO

idea who will respond.
Here's a suggestion for anyone who feels that

Well, I agree with those who think it is bizarre, as well as

The problem doesn't arise when only replying to the list.
The problem is that far too many list users don't bother to delete the

Invariably, if someone replies to my post, I get the reply to

My K2/100 will be bullt for me in the near future, and I remember
seeing a post or two in the last month or so about providing a high
level audio output (not controlled by the VOL control) for data or

One useful technique often employed here at the MJF Radio Labs to
remove solder from those pesky little holes is to snip off a chunk of
desoldering braid(6-10 mm or so) and position it on the hole with a pair
of tweezers, hemostats, etc. Then, using a hot

I am beginning to realize that I will never be able to exceed 20-25 wpm CW

Congrats, Fred, on your K2! You'll have a lot of fun building and
using it.
These mail lists are much, much faster and easier to use than any web
based forum or BB system. Have you tried using a news reader / mail
reader software such as free Forte Agent?
I had to replace mine once, it's not as bad as you might think if you
have a big iron. I cut the center conductor wire, then heated the body
of the connector with a large iron until the solder holding it in
place reflowed - at which point I turned the board upside down and the
connector fell right
