Hi,
I heard someone call in but I could not make out the callsign, neither could
anyone else unfortunately. I did try a couple of times after that to listen
for you but nothing was heard. As for the CW, all I heard was a G and the same
goes for the rest of the guys on the net. We had no idea
Since the send can be read on the K3 display, is it not possible to pick
it up on the K3 Utility cw terminal, which would be a fantastic learning
aid in sending, with accuracy and spacing?
Also after using qsk (Just fitted an ag6k kit to the sb220), I note the
clarity in the monitor sidetone

CW is an ideal fallback when conditions are such that wide bandwidth
modes are difficult.
Matt,
You are correct, there is a resettable fuse for the non-KPA3 power. And
those resettable fuses operate quickly. Still a fuse near the power
supply is a good idea to protect the wire - but if the power supply has
current limiting, and that current limit is reasonable for the wire
Hello Group,
I have a heil sound PR780 and a Traveler dual side. Could any of you advise
which connection cables should I order from Heil sound so that these mic can be

BTW, will Heil sound usually offer special discount during Dayton Hamvention?
Thanks in advance!

It is off-topic.

Johnny, if the weather is nice, you get to see a lot by taking the Circle

I have noticed that too, but I find it improves if you increase the monitor

If you wish to use the K3 front panel 8-pin Foster connector with a Heil
headset you'll generally want Heil's AD-1K adapter (the red Kenwood
adapter), which also has a pigtail 1/4 phone jack intended for a
footswitch.
If the headset microphone connector has a 3.5mm TS or TRS plug (mono or

Is there an accurate way to utilize a W2 with the K3/ATU combo? Seems that
with the W2 between the output of the K3 and the Antenna, the peak reading
would not be accurate. Especially at QRO power settings. I don't remember
seeing anything in either of the menus that would assist with that.

It's not the most convenient location, but I liked the Jane Hotel, which
wasn't expensive. And if you're willing to share, the Hosteling

For what you pay for a Heil headset the audio quality is lacking somewhat.
Yamaha CM500 is a lot less expensive and gives superb audio quality.
As do other headsets IMHO

The net got off to a slow start due to the terrible QRM from 14.313 and the

Because of my antenna setup, I would like to use the 2nd receiver IF out

Hi All,
I have a partially built K2 circa serial number 5000 and have completed
Assembly Stage II of the RF Board. All of the resistance numbers are fine
with the exception of U6 Pin 8 which reads 42.5 ohms and should be greater
than 100 ohms. I have checked everything on the board visually
I gotta say, the K3 has made a contester out of me. I've been a ham since '78
and avoided contests like the plague for over 3 decades - too much
mush...inseparable stations, endless noise, etc - who needs the fatigue?!
But November's CQWW and this weekend's ARRL DX contests have been pure fun
Once additional connections and coax length is introduced into a load that

Al,
The first thing to try is reversing your meter leads. Often ohmmeters
use a higher voltage which can make some solid state devices conduct.
Is the Control Board plugged into the RF Board? If so, remove it and
remeasure.
Is U8 oriented correctly? How about Q18 and Q19?
Check the
Al, first check the resistance with your DMM leads reversed. Some DMMs apply
enough voltage that gates in the i.c.s start to conduct, giving you an
abnormally low reading.
I trust you are using a DMM and not a VOM (like the old Simpsons, etc. -
just about anything with a wiggly needle meter ;-)

hook
the computer to the k3? In the manual I find a microphone in plug which would

Any help would be appreciated, even if it is to say,
They will never be equal for two reasons:
1) The K3 measures SWR between the final amplifier output and the KAT3 input
inside the K3. The function of the KAT3 is to provide a load very close to
50 ohms to the final amplifier, regardless of the impedance present at the
rear-panel antenna jack and
John you can add a QSK-5 from Ameritron to your existing amp. Works great

Which vintage of the Mac mini?
The Griffin iMic is a USB audio device. It has mic/line in and line out and
works quite nicely with Mac OSX. That will take care of the issue and also
isolate you from the system sounds.

Hello,
I don't know if this subject has been briught up, if it has please excuse my
not seeing it.
The DVR for my K3 put in place today has an anomoly. It makes recordings
for on the air transmissions fine. But it seems to have what sounds like a
popping or staticy presence to the audio.
It's in field test, John. I used it during the ARRL DX and it was awesome. I
wish I had had more time to operate, but in the 6 hours I had available the
KPA-500 made nary a hiccup. Perfect QSK, instant band changing, instant-on.
It was as if the K3 suddenly became a 500+ watt xcvr.
