I have the same problem with my K3 on AM and SSB.
Particularly on the initial transmission the power ramps up slowly, like

Jack,
Are you driving the K3 with enough audio? You should have the audio
input level set high enough to produce 5 to 7 bars indication on the ALC
meter.
If you do not drive the audio sufficiently, the behavior will be exactly
as you have said.
We usually encounter this situation in digital
In my opinion, wide-band receiver coverage and receiver performance are
often conflicting notions, so are you asking if the KX3-2m will have
wider receive frequency coverage than the FT-817 or better receiver
performance?

I have one suggestion: Add the option to assign macros (remote control

It would be really nice if there was an option to assign macros to the P3
function keys instead, programmable through the P3 utility.
Let's hope the Elecraft guys read this :)

Hi Wayne,
Can you guess as to whether the KX3's 2m module will perform better or worse
than an FT-817 on 2m in terms of sensitivity and selectivity?
The 817 out of band 2m receive is limited...

Yeah, but I don't want an external display or keyboard...
It appears to be a relatively simple thing to add the option to the P3
natively.
Or, as suggested, adding the possibility to send commands from the K3 on the
KAT interface.

Hi Kevin,
Sorry to hear of the crash. The document files in most of these programs like
Star Office are really zip files. If you change the suffix to .zip and then
open them, you can usually extract a set of other files. These are often XML
or such and can be parsed for content.

Tom,
You have the VFOs linked on 15 meters - it is a per band setting.
Hold the SUB button to link/unlink the VFOs.
Remember that a long hold (more than 2 seconds) will enter diversity mode.

I did exactly what you're thinking about doing. Instead of using the

Yes, it will work, but there's a far easier way. Simply make a cable

How about making a homebrew multiband vertical for $not very much at all,
one that will literally fit in your pocket?
Use a steel tape measure as the vertical radiator, with the body of the
measure lofted into the sky using a very low tech bit of string hanging
over the branch of a tree. Run
So Arno, if you know this delete and you're making plenty of contacts

At it's resonant frequency, the coupling from the coax to the big loop
is huge. Off its resonant frequency, it is nil. If you have an ATU in
