I always recommend trying both the K7QO course that Ian mentions and
the G4FON CW Trainer (www.g4fon.net). They use different techniques,
and some people prefer one and some prefer the other. It depends on a
person's learning style.

I always recommend the Bencher BY-1 as a first paddle. You can find
them at hamfests and on EBay for $60 or less.
If you can afford $150 - $200, then go for the Begali Simplex, as
N6GQ recommended. It's a wonderful paddle.

I recently had OfficeMax print 15 copies of a 100-page document from
a PDF file I supplied on a CD-ROM. They printed double-sided, in
black and white, and the total cost per copy was less than $10 each.

The answer to that is NO.
While there may be some FISTS members that want to only exchange
numbers, the vast majority of them are ready and willing to ragchew.
In fact, I'd bet most of them would rather make a contact, then to
continually be calling CQ FISTS.

Oh, come on. You're really making a mountain out of a molehill here.
If you don't feel comfortable replying to a CQ FISTS call, Keith,
then don't do it. The rest of you please feel free to do so, even if
you're not part of that august group.

If you ever hear me calling CQ FISTS please feel free to call me. I
think the majority of FISTS members would feel the same. In fact, it
would be definitely NOT in accordance with FISTS principles not to
have a contact with you. :)

it boils down for me: Try iambic keying, and if you like

Some time ago, I built the opto-isolator circuit found on http://
