range. I opted for the one to provide
the widest band coverage. I did change the encoder to a better one as
the one provided with early K1s was a bit noisy mechanically. Also I
carried out the mod to provide a back lit display which was not standard
at the time.
Have fun!

is SSTV ? This would be particularly useful now
we can use the P3 on a big SVGA screen.

I wouldn't replace your K2 with an FT-817ND or an FT-897 Jim. Now if you
were to replace it with an Elecraft K3 that would be another matter.

Hello Peter - I don't have a KX3 as I am not a backpacker, but if it's
the K3 you are referring to, press in the knob to the lower, left of the
main tuning knob to enable the monitor control. Turn it down
accordingly.

The XV144 works very well with the K3, Dave, and you don't need anything
else, not even the KXV3A which is necessary for the internal K44XV
transverter. The K3 with its stock 2.7 kHz filter is fine unless you
wish to use FM in which case you would need the KFL3B-FM 13 kHz filter.
I do not know

I know that most applications will run just fine on a 64-bit machine. I
was worried about applications, e.g. add-in cards, that require separate
drivers. Some that I have seen are marked that the driver is 32-bit only
and that it won't
It has happened to me a few times, Mike. What is frustrating is that
after power up, the K3 goes back to a previous setting. You then have to
try and remember what frequency you were on before the power off.

Yes again, Simon, there are two XV setting options on the far clockwise
positions of the P3 menu. One of these is 'XV Gain' and is provided for
precisely the reason you describe. (My firmware version is 1.19 beta)
