includes a Redwood, look at what I do at the bottom of my QRZ page. I
got the idea from a QST article a few years ago and then built on the
idea.
It will make the setup much faster than you could

ability to cancel out almost all background noise at the flip of a

That is true. My K3 I assembled in 08 was brought up to today's K3
standards when it was cared for by Elecraft 2 months ago. I asked for
and had all the upgrades/updates done to it and it was very
reasonable and yes, I definitely hear a difference in cw reception
thanks to these changes.
FWIW,
When I was choosing which rig to get, to upgrade from my TenTec Omni
V, I wanted a radio that was going to be on the top of its game as
long as there were parts available for it. I considered all the rigs
available at the time and it was a close draw between the Orion the
K3. I

to extend below the signal line into the waterfall; it would help

cancelling headsets from the common passive variety with excellent
sound-proofing to several with the electronic noise removal. Without
a doubt the most comfortable and most effective headsets I compared
were the Bose QC-2. That

I'm guessing the impedance is wrong between my Bose QC-15 and the K3,
I can't use more than 15 degrees of AF rotation or it blasts my ears
unsafely. Any suggestion of a nice plug in stereo attenuator? I use a
stereo adapter to run from the Bose stereo mini plug into the K#'s
1/4 stereo plug.
Thanks for the reminder! The in-line resistor in the headset was the

an unknown reason the K3 began communicating again with the computer
and I had made no changes. Restarting the computer 4-5 times and
re-trying to communicate did not work. Everything else seemed to work
with the computer and
I just went to run my K3 and discovered it wasn't communicating with
the logging program. I shut off the logging program and started the
K3 Utility and refreshing the port list only gives me ports 1 3.
Neither of these ports are communicating with the K3. I've restarted

I am working the Stew Perry test and noticed my indicator for SWR S
meter stopped not working and that is the same on all bands. If I
adjust the RF control I can see the level indicated but there is no
sign of Rf life. I turned off the radio back on but this persists.
