Ultimatic is an absolutely wonderful keying mode (and the only one I can
use with dual lever paddles). It gives priority to the last paddle closed.
In other words, close the dah lever, and you get dahs - but then close
the dot lever, and you then get dots even though both paddles are now
closed
Chuck,
Sounds great. Lots of functionality in your package.
You write "K3 keyer does not provide all of the functionality of the WinKey,
a case in point being the Ultimatic keying mode". What is this mode?
Your software runs for many contests. Can it be adapted to run in DX
pedition mode? Possib
While not one of the "Big Three", CQ/X - GPS Enabled Software for Mobile
Contesting (www.no5w.com) supports the use of KY keying, in addition to
WinKey keying.

It is found in the KX3 user manual on page 35 in the second paragraph. It
is under the "Menu Help Information" heading. I keep finding useful little
nuggets just by slowly going through the manual with the radio at hand.

This is neat and helpful. Thank you, Wayne.

As one who has been exploring caves for the last 40+ years, my
principle interest in the 630M band is its ability to
communicate thru solid rock. There is a long history of cave
radios operating on medium frequencies under part 15, most of
which use antennas consisting of a coil of wire. (One o
Both the K3 and KX3 provide help text for all menu entries. The
owner's manual provides a lot more information, of course, but the
built-in info display covers the basics, and that may be all you need.
Once you're in the menu, you can display information about the present
menu entry by doing
35-dB over noise for months with barely a couple dB variation
in strength. Terrific emcomm potential. Why the ships used it for
their emergency band when CW was still in use.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, Bill, but a couple of things

Wayne:
An Elecraft Transverter for below 510 kHz would be well received, world wide.
I guess the number of participants would be rather low to start with but
interest would increase with the availability of such an item. A poll of the
amateur market would give a good indication of interest.
