Hi Paul,
yes of course.
1. Remove all cables and use some ESD protection (at least discharge themself
to grounding point)
2. Unscrew four main thumb screw and open the KX3 carefully
3. In the middle you will find flat (like PC) flex cable (we say ribbon cable)

While tuning the KX3 through frequencies that other receivers are tuned to
in the shack, a tone similar to the kx3 sidetone is being picked up by those
receivers (ts480HX and an FT2000).

Just to close this out it turns out that the incorrect setting I had was
XV2(Adr) = trn1.
Per Elecraft support I should have selected XV2(Adr) = int.trn0
The correct settings (which are different than configuring a K3) are;
XV2 (on) = Yes
XV2 (RF) = 1296
XV2 (IF) = 50
XV2 (Pwr) = 3.0
XV2 (OFS)
Dave,
Try:
XV2 (on) = Yes
XV2 (RF) = 1296 1296 your transverter band RF freq.
XV2 (IF) = 5050 MHz for the KX3-2M option
XV2 (Pwr) = 3.0
XV2 (OFS) = 0
XV2 (Adr) = INT trn1 Selects INTERNAL transverter.
I would be interested to know how the above works for you.

Thanks but 144 does not show up as an option when I select XV2 IF. Options are

Paul,
You are telling the KX3 to use the 50 MHz output (on the BNC connector)

Change the XV2 IF parameter to 144.
The XV2 ADR parameter gives the band decode that will be sent when that
transverter is selected, and can be used to activate

Guys;
Realize that Mac versions of the utilities are important to us “insiders” also.
This is something that will be addressed in due time.

Yep. I still have vintage Thinkpads left over from my days in biz that
are running XP Pro; one of them runs my VNWA, and

Andy,
Maybe for some, but my eyes glaze over when you start talking about that stuff.
I've already experienced the sunk costs for the old hardware.

What a wonderful idea… I’m thinking about adding a Pi to my shack/field kit to
handle a number of chores without needing a larger computer.

Wes,
I wonder if a better answer would be to push for versions of the utilities that
compile on an ARM chip so that it could be run on a Raspberry Pi. Particularly
as it’s already been compiled for an X86 under Linux, so all the libraries
should be there. I don’t think many of us would worry
At least with Apps running in FORTH you could use something like SwiftForth and
keep running them under Windows or MacOS!

It’s kind of the way things go. I’d like to be able to run some 8-bit Z-80
apps I wrote in the 1970’s (in FORTH) without pulling my old Digital Group
system out of the attic, but I can’t.
Developers need to keep up. I imagine that the Elecraft macOS apps will show
up as 64-bit compatible at
You could always do what some of us Windows users do; keep an old computer
around with legacy OS. My two shack computers and my office desktop still run
Win 7 Pro. To run my N2PK VNA, I have a laptop with a parallel port running
WinXP and I think there is still a 386 laptop out in the garage
Apple plans to not support 32 bit applications with the next
major release of MacOS. This change will hit a number of ham
radio applications as well as the Elecraft utilities.

Since the memory manager seems to be tied to Windows, should we contribute to
Chirp support for Elecraft? It already supports some Kenwood rigs, so if the
Elecraft memory command set is similar to Kenwood, that might not be too hard.
The request has been on the Chirp board since 2012, so it
Excellent. I look forward to seeing new versions of the OSX Utilities for the
Elecraft line sometime soon then.
